This is one of the few games where I would genuinely say that you could do side stuff every video. That is due to the fact that even the side quests in this game are incredibly written, and environmental storytelling even in zones without explicit quests is also phenomenal.

I would say, my biggest relief when playing was that I DIDN'T accept Emhyr's offer of payment, and took the "doing it for Ciri" option... ...my only gripe with unfairness, is that this was an early decision that can help ruin an entire playthrough / good ending! :(

Sidequests in this game genuinely have better story and content than most main campaigns do these days so don't be afraid to commit to them, this is not a Ubisoft game. And don't worry about being underleveled right now because the script flips upside down really quick. If you commit to sidequesting and contracts you end up overleveling the main questline by a ton.

This is good to hear. Often, my favorite games are ones with incredibly memorable sidequests. Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy 14, Majora's Mask, all of the Trails games. It's still uncommon, so gems like these games, and The Witcher 3 should treasured!

    • @dacsus
      @dacsus Месяц назад

@@becauseimbatman1391 it's the other way around - you can't talk normally to people who are woke:
The term 'woke' is best defined as an intolerant and moralizing ideology. Like its cousin 'canceled' the phrase bespeaks 'political correctness' gone awry. Though "woke" has its roots in anti-racism, it was mis-used so often that it lost any and all remnants of its original meaning. To be clear, we are very much against racism however the 'woke' term no longer is associated with it.
It was the word's constant mis-use which ultimately caused it to represent all the problematic attempts to redefine society to conform to a very small minority's understanding of how the world should operate. Those that promote woke culture as an expression of virtue are typically oblivious to the rot they impose on society. Some are even aware of that rot and still choose to promote it.

Don't ignore NPC's that have full on conversations or long lines. They are not random. Even if there is no small quest, there is always a story. You can track how they live, what they do. It truly goes deep. When NPCs talk about "Oh, me and my mates are going fishing", they WILL go fishing.

@@KingdomAceI think a good mix would probably be 2-3 side quests in between each main quest you do, depending on how long the side quests are. You might still have some left over by the end of the main story, but that's not the end of the game. Once you complete the main story you can still explore the rest of the game, and you can then do DLCs as well.
The order to do the DLCs in is the Hearts of Stone DLC first, and then the Blood and Wine DLC second/last. This isn't my personal preference or something, the Blood and Wine DLC is kind of a send off for Geralt, so doing that first might feel a little weird once you finish it. Plus they were released in that order anyway.

I am addicted to your Witcher videos! Just two suggestions. You can not battle monsters underwater, but you can use your crossbow and usually one-shot everything that way. Another one of which will let the game be more immersive. Every time you see a dialogue, there are usually saturated yellow options and desaturated yellow (lighter yellow) options. The latter, often off topic, you can freely select for more background, more details, (they are very often humorous!) it will still let you select the dark yellow ones once you go through the light yellow dialogue, so no fear of not being able to go back to ask about the "important stuff" ^^, Loving the playthrough!

    TIPS WITHOUT SPOILING
You already have a very good healing potion, equip it: Swalow.
Read the contracts, only then will they be cataloged in the missions tab, if you just get the papers, nothing changes! As long as they have an exclamation mark (!), the game understands that you didn't read it.
Every time you meditate, your potions are refilled.
When using IGNI (fire), if the enemy starts to burn, do not hit him , or the fire will go out.
While you are immersed in the water, use the crossbow to kill the drowners, it is extremely useful.
Use Witcher Senses whenever you are farming items, or in new locations, it is ALWAYS useful
Use oils on swords, you can create a very good one, for necrophages and in this case, drowners take more damage. The oils have charges of 50 hits, after that you must use them again.
Sometimes it is much better to disassemble items with the blacksmith than to sell them, this gives you a lot of parts/ingredients to make weapons, armor or potions.

  • @TheBookworm23
    @TheBookworm23 6 месяцев назад +9

Oils are your friend in this game, as well as potions. Necrophage Oil is for the undead type of monsters, which includes the Drowners. The oils help to damage the enemy over time. There's also an added instant apply for the oil in the options settings that is a godsend after having to do it manually when the game first came out. Hope you continue to enjoy the game!

42:05 when you eat a food you can see "buff healing" that healing process does not get multiplied if you eat again, its just the same but just starting from 0 again when you eat aginb, if you want extra healing you must get a second different type of healing (the swallows potion for instance), and if you were in keyboard you would be able to have access to food, swallow potion and the green potion at the same time (even a fourth slot) whereas with controller you only see 2 at once.

witcher 3 side quests go from small ones that you can do more or less fast. And the bigger ones that will take time also will have a great story behind them.
So, its mostly very much fine to do them as a creator. They are either fast enough or quality enough that its great to watch.
Imagine like the girl in White Orchard who had turned into a wraith. That was a cool story and experience. That´s going to be a small faster side quests. The big ones are going to have more and better story / decisions behind them.

Notice boards: Not all of the notices are quests and some boards (like the one at the start of this video) yield none at all. They are often worldbuilding pieces, or hints to treasure/monster lairs/interesting locations. When you picked them up, it said 'New Undiscovered Location' and marked it on your map, effectively letting you know of a new point of interest for you to go to. You should still take them all anyway, and I think...(?) that the ones that do give quests have like some red wax seal or some other identifying marker before you pick them up.

Great stuff! - I love the music in the section of the game you're about to get into!
One tip - even if you don't want to do a quest *yet*, you can always accept it, and then switch from it, to mark it in your journal / map - I too, worried that I'd have to do one as soon as I agreed, but it's pretty relaxed about tackling them, 99% of the time! (then you don't have to lose track of where the questgiver was!)...
Another tip - definitely create potions / decoctions and bombs as soon as you can - they're permanent (!), but it's not clearly mentioned - so if you create one, and have the right ingredients (for decoctions, it's mainly spirits plus whatever ingredients - that is, the drinking kind!), then each time you meditate, any that you've ever first made, will replenish! - I didn't realise this until later in my playthrough, and they make life so much easier - in fact, some battles, they're pretty much essential, to stand a chance... ...one in particular, argh!...
You're doing the right thing though! - Reading up on them - the bestiary is required reading for a lot of the creatures - makes an impossible battle WAY easier, in most cases... (like Yrden, as you found, with the wraiths, and for later creatures, it's a huge difference)...
Glad you're enjoying it so far though!

Hey, I like your witcher playthrough! I've been playing this game like 6 times or so and if you don't mind, I would like to give you a few soft tips.
    1. Don't listen to anybody's builds and skills advices. Even on the hardest diff any build that you will come up by yourself will be viable. If you will spend a bit more time analyzing and reading through skills, you will figure out what works better than the rest. (+ ads up to authenticity)
    2. If you have 10 minutes, you can go back to "white orchard" and swim down the river from nilfgard castle to the midpoint of the village searching through the bottom with "witcher senses ", you will find a dozen chests with loot and valuable blueprints for alchemy. (Alchemy meters).
    3. When you will get to "crow's perch" early on in the game (main storyline). Do the same, search all possible rooms and buildings ( especially higher up on the hill where the castle is located) as well as rooftops (it might be not obvious how to climb there but you will figure that), there will be a couple of hidden chests as well.
P.S.: Respect for replaying convo that simulates decisions made in witcher 2. Not very authentic but saves you a good questline. Cheers!

Witcher Gear has advantages over regular swords/armor, especially if you're wearing all the pieces at once (boots, gauntlets, chest, trousers and swords). The buffs change depending on which Witcher School stuff you craft (Griffin, Wolf, Bear, etc). You can also upgrade it 4-5 times, which will add Rune/Glyph slots to the gear, increase its offense/defense abilities and each higher version looks much cooler. :)

Bro just do the videos full of side quests you will not get bored while doing them and it will be just more content for you and for us, the side quests and optional things to explore on the map are not boring in this game, the lore, monster hunts and seeing abandoned locations is really fun in there, just explore, do side stuff and then move on with the story when you will be done with everything else on one map, believe me that is the best way to expiriance this game, especially cuz it is your first time with Witcher series and you know nothing about it (and sorry but it shows a lot XD) so basically side stuff with lore will help you A LOT in this game. Also just a tip, do use bestiary and read it before going into fight blindly. Some pointers:
The posters on the notice boards are not all quests. Some are just notices put up by the villagers of that same village. They give insight about the happenings or some are just funny to read.
When selling stuff its better to sell weapons at a blacksmith and armour at armorer for better rates. Same goes for food and drinks at innkeeps. Also when you run into a beehive use igni to burn the hive down, youll be able to loot honey comb.
Swallow and Thunderbolt should be your main potions. Swallow will regen health much much more efficiently than consuming food. Health regen from food do not stack stats wise, thats why swallow is much better. Thunderbolt will buff your damage significantly.
You can also meditate to replenish your potions so dont worry about running out.
Dont worry too much about being underleveled. Youll become too powerful lmao.
Try using your signs more often. Especially igni: it'll help bridge some distance between your opponents. Also when your opponent is on fire from igni let the burning effect play out before your hit them again. Igni is very useful for groups of enemies.
May not always be the case but enemies covered in fur, lives around water/swamp or humans; igni is very effective.
Just an immersion tip but the dialogues from the random villager NPCs can be funny, insightful or just add to the atmosphere.
Another tip. The game doesn't care if you loot villager home etc. only if there's guards around. So happy looting, feel free to rob everyone's home ☠️

When picking up stuff to read, make sure you at least open them all to get quests and potion formulae from them. So you don't have to read them yourself, but opening them will make Geralt read them. When you find a new thing to read, like a letter or a book, you can open it and then press probably either right arrow or RT or RB to swap to older quest stuff you didn't read before, and that's how you actually get quests. You missed a whole bunch of them.
Also during conversations, white options won't advance the conversation, but will give you more insight. Only yellow options advance the conversation. So select white options before yellow ones.

The big papers on the notice boards are quests, the smaller ones are usually lore and places of interest that appear on your map. Also, you don't heal any more or any faster using multiple food items. Under your health bar when you eat that buff will show you when you have the regen active, depending on the food and drink it will be either 10 or 15hp per second, except for small windows immediately after you take damage. With gourmet you only need to hit a food item once ever 20 real world minutes, or after you meditate.

Hi man, want to say congrats on the content, I for one can't get enough of The Witcher content.
    Some tips:
    1. try and start using oils, they are amazing and will make your life much easier.
    2. clear the filters from your map so you can see everything (right now you can't see monster nests), you don't get that much XP from killing monsters, but you will get good XP from clearing areas from monsters (usually you would also need a grapeshot bomb to destroy nests).
Easter Egg: remember when you met that hunter (in the Griffin quest) and he said that he was gay and that him and his partner were caught and he was "evicted" from the village and his partner killed himself? You already knew that from when you did the "Devil by the Well" quest, when you have read the Woman's Diary in it was a sentence of something like "the lord is not so quick to anger since his son died". His son was the hunters partner, the guy that killed himself.

The "questioning" scene was a clever way for the game to simulate what you could have done in Witcher 2
If you had played Witcher 2, and loaded the final save into Witcher 3 - you would not have been questioned - your choices in Witcher 2 (which is what all the questions are based from) would have been carried over instead
In Witcher 2, you can choose to kill Letho at the end .... which is what you chose (oops!) ... I can see why people were disappointed, because he's a very entertaining character and you apparently killed him off!
I wouldn't have minded - you'll make loads of poor choices in this game - it goes with the territory ...

You also pick up a lot of trash so you should go to a smith and deconstruct some items. You can also take off the runes on you sword there too. Since you can’t use the DLC stuff, you should put them in your chest, which you can see on the map as a green chest it’s just dead weight till you are high enough level.

Yeah, so the problem with choosing to simulate Witcher 2 save if you haven't played or don't know the story, the choices are pretty much without context. I prefer how Dragon Age did this with Dragon's Keep where you get a summary of the entire story based on the world state you build. This issue with that was it is only available on the website and only applies to DA3.

Main Story missions are the fastest and way to level up. Some of the time you don’t even have to battle, some are just dialogue or get my package or stuff like that. It seems kinda slow when you take in the scenery or battle every enemy on the way but just doing the objective as fast as you can. Ps left trigger to block/parry lol. Hammer dudes you can’t parry and to block arrows you need the ability.

Feel free to do the sidequests, even those have great writing. Also, unless you like save scumming every story beat you don't like, I recommend picking your chat options based on what you can infer, and not what your chat/comments tells you. Some players might want you to get a certain ending to a chars storyline, you should just experience it without looking into the future. Every aspect of the game is pretty well written, even if you get the less than desirable outcome, the story will always be very good.

Gourmet is really good for early game before you get really powerful, on Blood and Bones and Death March, because at lower difficulties, meditating will restore your HP, but at this difficulty it won't. Eventually there will be a way to re-spec and you shouldn't need it. But it's a good way to generate health for the early game. You can also abuse it and equip it out of combat and unequip it when you heal up to make sure you can use your other abilities in combat, although some people might find that to be cheating. I'm in the camp that the game is 9 years old and has been rebalanced so many times, if it's possible and helps you, just use it.

Hello. In fact, all of gaps with understanding the plot comes with that this game series is based on very popular fantasy books in Poland, written by Andrzej Sapkowski (The Witcher). Authors of the game have tried to explain everything using ingame books and notes, however relationships between characters were already built in another medium. For sure, playing previous games from series may help a little but no so much. Have a fun with The Witcher! :)

All I can say is that you're in the newcomers area of the game. It hasn't really started yet. If you stick around, you're in for probably the greatest game you ever played. That said, you can't ignore the writing or dialogue spoken. That is what sets it apart from all the rest. If you truly listen to every conversation, you'll never be able to play another RPG and not compare the writing/dialogue to this. I'll tell you, I haven't found any other to this day that can compare.

I know it's gonna take a time, but if you will read, at least some shortcuts about what happens in a books, you will understand more in the game - who is who etc.
I read all books at least 10 times, and for me all Witcher games are "non official" books continuation - and thats amazing imo.
W3 I've played something around 15 times, and for sure Im gonna play few more times.
ps. queen and igni (imo) are most powerfull sings to use, but probably some ppl already wrote about it.
ps2 if you will learn "monsters movement" - fights will be much easier for you. Just look how they are attacking, step left or right and atk. Usually after your 2 or 3 of your attacks you need to step back, left or right.
ps3 jack mentioned about it too, but use your witcher senses more often - you're gonna find everything much faster

My stance on Gourmet is I do think it’s completely broken with how much healing it gives you, but I’ll be honest- I did use it when I was first playing. I ended up dropping it later though because I felt like I had infinite healing. So far you haven’t been using the Swallow potion, which in my opinion is where the true balance of healing comes in, with healing potions. I suppose if you’re not using swallow to heal, Gourmet makes a lot more sense, and you can use potions for other things- that legitimately seems like a very fun play style. But I think when you have healing from both Gourmet and potions, it gets really strong. That’s just my two cents though, and you seem like you enjoy a challenge, so I’m sure that whatever happens in the future you’ll adjust it to be engaging. After all, that’s what I did, taking gourmet at first and then dropping it myself because I enjoyed the game more without it.
