I agree. I also think Base-lit sabers are better for collecting multiple sabers in general. I currently own only 2 Neopixel sabers and a half dozen Base-lit sabers. They are cheaper so it's easier to collect several

Thanx! I really do think both have merit. I have more Base-lit sabers mostly because I like to spin and they are much cheaper and lighter. But I also have a couple Neopixel because they are so cool
Your absolutely right about the price. I have a second sister lightsaber that is a neopixel and I just recently bought the grand inquisitor lightsaber. The Second Sister Neopixel is definitely brighter, but I wanted something I could duel with
So I’ve been wanting a lightsaber for a while to have as a decoration in my room. I know that I will be getting my first lightsaber as a base lit from crimson dawn but I’d it ok to hang that on a wall and have it on quite a bit? If not is there a better brand to do that with? This might be a bit late but keep this in mind for any lightsaber. Red green and blue are all going to last longer in terms of battery because they are primary colors in light. While colors like violet, yellow, orange, white especially and so on need to mix two or more colors thus using more energy. I would research specific brands as there are so many I don’t even know myself. To me base lit seems to last longer but it also depends on if you use stable or unstable or rainbow if it’s neopixel. @@galefs_minis_n_sabers hey I just wanted to ask if u use a neopixel blade with a xenopixel soundboard, does it effect the brightness at all? Cause you are using one with a proffie soundboard.
I'm more concerned about how bright the base-lit saber is compared to one that is a dedicated color. I had a saber some years ago with an RGBA LED and while I could alter the colors incrementally and mix them in basically infinite ways, the overall result was significantly dimmer than the saber that just had two red LEDs and a white for flash on clash. I'm not really interested in the saber doing all sorts of tricks like neopixel, but I'd rather not have one that just looks limp unless I turn every color diode up to max and just get a weird purplish white.

Thank you so much for this video! I was looking to buy one on their website, and this overall swayed me more towards buying a base-lit saber. On that note, are you able to change the color of a base lit saber, or does it have a randomized color given to you? Is there also a sound on clash for a base lit? Tysm again :)
At this point, just about every LGT Base-lit saber includes RGB color changing, flash on clash, and several different sound fonts. And that's true for Crimson Dawn as well
Thanks for posting. Might invest in a dueling version of my ARTSABERS Anakin skywalker ep3 neopixel lightsaber because the one I have is the v3.0 neopixel blade and the lightsaber itself already is falling apart....the ignition switch is loose and one of the rubber handgrips has fell off the bottom of the hilt. So I’m not happy especially after paying $500 USD for the damn thing and it’s only a week old. Not to mention they do not sell spare separate batteries for their lightsabers. Might not even buy from ARTSABERS again to be honest
The LED is the standard RGB that LGT sabers come with and it's fairly bright. But I've seen Tri-cree single colors from other vendors are noticeably brighter. I don't have any experience with wired stuff myself, so I can't recommend anything other than standard prebuilt stuff you can buy "off the shelf"
Wanting to buy a lightsaber. I will mostly be using it just for display, however I really want a good quality lightsaber thaf actually ignites like in the movie. I'd probably use it occasionally just to feel like a badass. You recon I just got for the neopixel one?
how much brighter is the neopixel compared to the bottom of the rgb? in camera they look exactly the same brightness, but im assuming IRL they look different
The Neopixel is noticeably brighter if you look at them side by side IRL. But the Base-lit is still quite bright on it's own. The only downside is the brightest fades as it gets to the tip. But generally this isn't noticable on blades 32" or shorter

For dueling, get a Base-lit saber. Any from Crimson Dawn, Darkwolf sabers, Rebel sabers or any LGT reseller will have color changing and can duel. Most are compatible with the coupler pommel that can be used to attach another saber as a staff
While a Base-lit has lots of features, it still limited by just being a single light shown through a hollow tube. Neopixel has strips of LEDs which can be localized for way more effects
Base-lit sabers are still great. The VAST majority of sabers I've ever owned (bought and sold dozens since I started collecting) have been Base-lit. I've only ever owned 2 Neopixel sabers.
Crimson Dawn and the majority of other saber companies include a blade when you buy a lightsaber. The only time I've ever not seen this is if you specifically buy an "empty hilt" or piecemeal the parts and electronics for a saber.
@@galefs_minis_n_sabers alright thanks, looks like a cool Christmas present! I'm thinking of a mystery box tier 2, doesnt matter a lot how it looks to me, and the price is really good too. Thing is, the shipping would cost me more than the lightsaber itself (105€)...
In direct sunlight a Neopixel blade is almost indistinguishable from a Base-lit. I mean, you can't compete with the Sun. But there is a slight difference in the shade. That's the whole purpose of dayblades; to show a color during the day
I do not know the specific differences, but functionally it is the same, just with a custom suit of styles and fonts that Crimson Dawn selected. It's only more expensive because it's exclusive to CD
Anything can break if you beat the Sith out of it. There is no way to guarantee a blade will not break, but Base-lit blades and definitely a safer option and cheaper to replace
Not really. There's really not a lot of cheap Neopixel sabers under $200. If you aren't too concerned about the hilt appearance, you could order a Tier 2 Mystery box from Crimson Dawn for $225. If you want to pick your hilt, they have a few styles around $250. If this is your first ever saber, I recommend getting a Base-lit first, then save up for a Neopixel.
Brighter? Not really. The camera gets over exposed and creates the white core, but in person Base-lit or even Neopixel are solidly the color they are set to. No white core. But they are still quite bright
No, Neopixel blades need a Neopixel core to work. A Base-lit core just has an LED in the hilt that shines through a hollow blade. A Neopixel needs to plug into a connector pad to draw the power and signal instructions needed to function
Honestly that's a loaded question. They are constantly updating configurations AND they now sell multiple boards that function with Neopixel blades such as Proffie, Golden Harvest and their own Crimson Proffie board. You'll almost always get fonts from major characters like Obiwan, Vader, Luke, Dooku, the Darksaber, Kylo Ren, etc. but some of the boards come preloaded with 20-30 different fonts
Crimson Dawn charged me 50 bucks to ship an extension piece that was not even bigger than my hand. Absolutely ridiculous I’ll never buy from them again.
I'm sorry to hear that. CD sells LGT parts and I've found them to be fairly competitively priced compared to other LGT vendors. And shipping is wildly inconsistent for lots of carriers these days. So it's probably not all CDs fault. You are just as likely to have had a similar experience from any other company right now
Kinda. Some Base-lit sabers can be quite bright, but usually Neopixel is brighter. The real difference is in effects. By having multiple LEDs in the blade, Neopixel can do more
I got these from: www.crimsondawn.com But I also get sabers from Vire sabers. Both companies are great and sell compatible parts. Crimson Dawn has great deals on some hilts and even free shipping within the US. Vire sabers has a great selection of parts and completes/ships orders super fast
No. For dueling I would recommend a base lit. The neopixle has LEDS in the blade that could be damaged from dueling while the base light would only be damaged if the base was damaged.
Yes. You can technically duel with either Neopixel or Base-lit, but Neopixel has electronics in the blade and is much more expensive. So I never recommend dueling with those. Base-lit seems more ideal for dueling in my opinion
Not if you want it to light up. Neopixel blades require the pins and matching electrons to work. Just putting the Neopixel in a Base-lit hilt would be like trying to charge your phone by shining a flashlight on it. Vire sabers has an adapter that can turn a Neopixel hilt work with a Base-lit blade, but there's no way to go the other way round
Can you not have a duel with the proffie 2.2 neopixel i have watched on youtube people battle with em but people say not too idk but i want a realistic one i can duel with
You can duel with either, however since the Neopixel blade has the electrons in the blade, it cost 4-5 times as much to replace if it breaks. Since anything can break if you beat the Sith out of it, you have to decide which you are more comfortable replacing: a hollow $20 Base-lit blade, or an $80-100 Neopixel? Since you can get a Base-lit LIGHTSABER (hilt, blade and all), for around the cost of a Neopixel blade alone, it just doesn't make sense to me to ever duel with a Neopixel. Get BOTH. The Base-lit to duel with and a Neopixel for the realism
All of these are claiming "infinite colors", when in reality it's like 16 colors. And possible are only up to about 130-150 colors. Anything more than that and most people aren't able to distinguish between the hues, and on top of that, lightsabers can only ever use half of even the famed 16 million colors, because half of them are going down on the brightness-spectrum, which isn't actually giving you a new color, it's just giving you less light.
Yeah but most people aren't going to need 16 colors or be able to distinguish which of them are the 16 colors as it scrolls through them. So it's easy to say you get any color in the visible spectrum. You just gotta be quick enough to stop the scroll at the right moment
Yes and no. Xenopixel is a specific board the operates a Neopixel blade. A Neopixel or just Pixel blade has light strips in the blade itself instead of a single bright LED in the hilt (basically a flashlight) There are several electronic boards that operate Pixel blades. Proffie, CFX, Golden Harvest, and Xenopixel are just a few

@@galefs_minis_n_sabers thanks
Does a baselit look brighter in person than it does in videos?
Brighter? Not really. The camera gets over exposed and creates the white core, but in person Base-lit or even Neopixel are solidly the color they are set to. No white core. But they are still quite bright
how can someone potencialize the led light in the base lit saber?
You'd have to know how to rewire it and I've never tried anything like that
If I get the base-lit from CD, can I plug a neopixel blade into it?
No, Neopixel blades need a Neopixel core to work. A Base-lit core just has an LED in the hilt that shines through a hollow blade. A Neopixel needs to plug into a connector pad to draw the power and signal instructions needed to function
So if you get the neo-pixel on their site what fonts come with it?
Honestly that's a loaded question. They are constantly updating configurations AND they now sell multiple boards that function with Neopixel blades such as Proffie, Golden Harvest and their own Crimson Proffie board.
You'll almost always get fonts from major characters like Obiwan, Vader, Luke, Dooku, the Darksaber, Kylo Ren, etc. but some of the boards come preloaded with 20-30 different fonts
@@galefs_minis_n_sabers So could I get Vader and Anakin or is it like- idk I’ve never ordered one before lol
I am hopefully getting a base-lit T-Flex soon
Edit: I got it for my birthday 👍
Hey I ordered the neo core mystery box, Does that still have smooth swing or only proffie? Thanks!
If it's from Crimson Dawn it should be smooth swing. That's all they offer
What is the name of the neosaber you have I want that design
That is a modified Crimson Dawn Antares. I added the extension with T-grips myself
You are just as likely to have had a similar experience from any other company right now
I bought a Base lit Phantom, mainly because I didn't have much money
Well done 👏
so basically the difference is just the brightness?
Kinda. Some Base-lit sabers can be quite bright, but usually Neopixel is brighter.
The real difference is in effects. By having multiple LEDs in the blade, Neopixel can do more
Where did u get it
I got these from:
www.crimsondawn.com
But I also get sabers from Vire sabers. Both companies are great and sell compatible parts.
Crimson Dawn has great deals on some hilts and even free shipping within the US. Vire sabers has a great selection of parts and completes/ships orders super fast
@@galefs_minis_n_sabers thanks
General Kenobi!
Is the neopixle good for dueling?
No. For dueling I would recommend a base lit. The neopixle has LEDS in the blade that could be damaged from dueling while the base light would only be damaged if the base was damaged.
Talia has the right answer. Neopixel blades are expensive to replace and NOTHING in this hobby is unbreakable. Base-lit is the way to go for dueling
Thanks for the video
Can i duel with baselit lightsaber?
Yes. You can technically duel with either Neopixel or Base-lit, but Neopixel has electronics in the blade and is much more expensive. So I never recommend dueling with those. Base-lit seems more ideal for dueling in my opinion
Nice vid
Can I put a neopixel on a base lit hilt?
@Galef's Lightsabers & more Thank You Very Much I appreciate the time you took to help me I will definitely do that thank you
Sick
Does it have that white core look in person?
No saber on the market does. That's just an affect of the camera being over exposed. You'll always going to see the saturated color in person.
@@galefs_minis_n_sabers so if I got a neopixel blade would it have that white core on camera
@@SwoogyBoogy you should. That's why all my sabers look that way, both Neopixel and Base-lit
@@galefs_minis_n_sabers i was thinking of buying from es sabers
I'm getting a baselit saber as it my first time getting one I'll get a neo pixel when I save up money to get one
Guys does the proffie board come pre programed
The one I bought did.
by neopixel did you mean xeno pixel?
Yes and no. Xenopixel is a specific board the operates a Neopixel blade. A Neopixel or just Pixel blade has light strips in the blade itself instead of a single bright LED in the hilt (basically a flashlight)
There are several electronic boards that operate Pixel blades. Proffie, CFX, Golden Harvest, and Xenopixel are just a few
I think ima get baselit
Great choice!
