OMG! 😂😂 watching you guys on another device now, I’m dying 😂 - you two are sooo funny. Nick- you have to appear more often 😮 Such a great couple you are. 🙏🙏🙏☮️☮️🤣🤣🤣🤣❤️❤️
What a load of fun you two had. My favourite is the first one. I agree with lots of your adoring fans that more Becky’N’Nick videos would be fun to watch.
That looked fun! I've never poured but I've watched lots of people do it. I think the troubles you were having were stemming from not enough flotrol. I love the one that you feathered the best. I think your last one would have really looked good using the feathering technique as well.
@@TracieWho Thank you, I should have gotten that comb in it I think! And not enough floetrol for sure, lol. I never put enough in...you'd think I'd learn, but no. 😂
I loved this video, you guys had so much fun and it made me smile. I think the paint needed to be thinner and more paint. Also I have found that breaking the surface tension makes the cells. Thanks for the video great work😊
This was absolutely fantabulously, marvellously, brilliant!!!!! More Nicky'n'Becky, please!!!!!! My order? Top left, top right, bottom. As Melissa has said, I think the paint was too thick for it to pour properly, but I definitely, positively, certainly liked your results! It's spring in Australia, I think? Maybe your recurring colds are allergies to certain pollens? Whatever it is, I hope you're both feeling normal again soon - but yes, more of Becky'n'Nick please!!! I scribbed thoughts to type as a comment for your haul video, but it's still somewhere in the 'to do' pile on the left end of my work table, with lots of other 'notes-to-self'!!! Apologies! Why? Long story! Short version? Christmas project for church!😊 PS! I keep forgetting to ask: when you two are out together, what does Nick do while you paint / take photos? Does he 'do art' himself? From this video, it seems not? My husband was just relieved that I was happy to sit painting / sketching while he wandered off "to see what there was that you might like to see too." (this was a very happy compromise, because of my wobbly energy levels, my longing to see 'what's around the corner' and his need to walk far more than i could / can do 😄.) (... and this was meant to be a short comment cos it's after my intended bedtime! 🛏🛌🛏🛌 🛏
Thank you! I still have yet to figure out the right proportions of paint to pouring medium to get it to be nice and runny. Maybe one day it'll happen. Or not...lol. This cold has been exacerbated by hay fever for sure! I get it around this time of year, but it was also a virus on top of that, so a double whammy. Ugh, it's so draining! Usually when we go out we do photography together. Sometimes I'll sketch and Nick will wander off taking pictures of birds or, as you say, to see what's around the corner. I prefer to go out alone to sketch though, so I don't have anyone waiting for me. 😆
Well, for someone who was sick, that was a lot of work. I don't wanna even think about the clean up afterwards ... My favourite is the first one, the last one is in second place and the combed one is my least favourite. Hope you're both feeling better now. Cheers from Italy. Dan 🧡
It ended up being so much more complicated than I expected! The clean up after involved piling everything into a box and chucking it into a corner of my studio....days later and it's still there! 😂 We're mostly better now, yay!
Hi Becky, I think a good name for the second one would be Blue Poles. I’m pretty sure you could get it hung in the National Gallery. I don’t think they have any thing like that at the moment.
Becky, it was fun to watch you and Nick pour paint together. You should have him on more often, you two are great together. I like the 2nd painting the best, the combed, psychedelic look.
That was fun 😄 I like the 2nd one the best because it reminds me of the abstract reflections you get when photographing bright colored boats on rippling water. I haven't done that for a while. The first one makes me think of marbleized paper patterns. The 3rd I don't know, I kind of wanted you to comb through it in a spiral with a curved arm at each end or something.
Very entertaining!! I love watching others do paint pouring but I'd losse my mind if I did it I can't abide the mess!! I hope you and Nick feel better soon, this was great fun to watch, I think my fave was the comb one! Well done to you both! :D
😂😂😂 Such fun! 😂 I can’t imagine doing anything like this with my husband. 😂😂 The designs all ended up quite interesting…..maybe 1960’s psychedelic 😊. Hope you both feel better soon. 😀
Well done to both of you and thanks for bringing some fun to art. My favourite is the combed one, I see a sail boat while looking through one of those bubbled glass block windows.
This looked like a really fun project. I’ve tried paint pouring before but quickly realised that it was something that I’d need to practice a lot to get the proper hang of it. The problem I had with it was firstly the sheer amount of waisted paint hurt, especially with my expensive liquitex paints! It was just so expensive as you have to use so much paint and flow medium, which also cost £20 a tub which I used all up so quickly. I did manage to make some nice cells in my paint pours, you create the cells by adding a few drops of the silicon oil to the paint, then using a hair dryer, cells are also created when you do a sweep, I used a paper towel to gently swipe over the top, that creates lovely effects.
That's a super idea with the paper towel; I'll have to try that! I'm in total agreement that it feels like such a waste of paints and money when putting loads on and it all drips off....I can't handle it, lol!
Wonderfully fun video, spontaneous and instructive! Nick is a great guest, hope to see him in future videos! The two of you are so cute creating together!
Awww thank you! I'm glad we finally made a video together; I've been wanting to for a while! Neither of us play D&D but seem to know a ridiculous amount about it, lol. I think I'll have to try that strainer out on a separate pouring session. There's just so much I don't know, and this becomes really apparent when I start filming a paint pouring video! 😂
@@BeckyTregear I have only done it once myself. I was too cheap to buy anything other than the acrylics I already have so I used water. In one I used black and silver. The silver was sooo thick so I had to add a ton of water, and then it became a problem that the pigments in there were huge and wanted to clump together. It looks..... well like something I made to show how sediments flow in water. XD I call it a science projekt, then looks doesn't matter. Only results and observations. :P
Thank you! It was fun making the video with Nick, although the post-editing took forever to put this chaos together, lol! I think you've given some great advice, and I've heard that cells work better without silicone too. I have a smaller "Super Cell" kit, so I'm going to put that to the test soon.
Ha ha love the way you managed to convert a cold into an art project. Such a great couple. My favourite is the second one can see it on a kids bedroom wall among car and motorbike decor. Hope you both finish your game of flu ping pong soon. :)
You two are such a cute and entertaining couple! In like the first one the best. Now I need to look for a paint pouring set to try this out or find a class to take. Fun!
Thank you! There are lots of (actually good) paint pouring channels on YT as well with people who know what they're doing, lol! Though it's also kind of fun to just mess around with paints and see what happens. 😂
Hi Becky, they aren't bad paintings. I would just call them abstract. The second one reminds me of a big mouth on a sea creature or something with that big red tongue in the middle. I think the first one is my favorite followed by the scratching big mouth. You had fun, and you were with someone you love. Albeit you were both sick and not feeling your best. You did great!
Honestly I don't think the silicone works well. I find it just leaves an oilly canvas. I learned pouring a few years ago when I did a workshop and the teacher has tried silicone too and didn't use it. I think it's MMs way if providing a cheap mix, but it doesn't work like Floetrol. I will say you need WAY more paint and can't be worried about wasting it. If you go too little, it won't have enough to move and fill the canvas. The mess is part of the fun. You said you wondered how others make these beautiful pieces and it does come down to using a lot of paint, and also good quality high pigmented paints. Cheaper paints don't work as well. I have tried the Mont Marte pouring paints after doing my course, and I think they're a fun family type paint, but you won't get those gorgeous Insta results you see. Amazingly my cat will always job on my desk and yet has NEVER done it with paint or resin pouring. Probably didn't like the smell and wasn't tempted.
Hi!, a bit late to this. Never did it myself but watched loads of videos. A lot of people put the colours all in one cup in layers and then pour into a central point or over something like that little strainer. That puts a lot of pain in one place that can then be slid across the canvas. The floetrol is usually used as a whole first layer on its own, and the colours on the top as above. You can use what you want as you did anyway to help the paint slither around. If I did it myself I would probably forget most of it and mainly worry about there the paint would get other than the canvas and whether that would be the day my cat discovered art! All the artists I watched had way more paint waste than you and some had major disaster areas sometimes. You don’t need to use silicon for cells, you can get them with the blowtorch. I think you might have to pop any bubbles as they appear. Not an art form for me, I am rather too attached to my paints! You did well though, better next time, you have a lot of paint there.
Making a mess with the one you love, what fun. Thanks for the smiles. It was nice to spend time with you both.
