Not just because we all know Brennan would be the first to blow that whistle but also because, yeah, most of us watched in real time as Facebook killed a bunch of content creators then their parent company dropped them and Sam someohow still managed to turn this around into an actually viable streaming service.
@@ragnarockerbunnythat's another thing worthy of note, Dropout is a streaming service that's self sufficiently viable. The service is their main source of revenue, unlike most other services that operate at a loss to be used as advertising for merchandise and other products, dropout actually WORKS!

Dropout has quickly become my girlfriend and mine's go-to entertainment. We cuddle and watch GameChanger, we snuggle and watch Dimension 20: Mentopolis, we get drunk and watch Dirty Laundry. Its basically taken the place Television game shows used to have for our parents' generation, and i love that. More over, Sam seems to truly bring out the best in his already incredibly talented cast and gives these people a place where they can shine with their unique talents and seemingly endless creativity. And you can just feel that. I hope that part of Dropout never changes.
Yep, this year when my bills went up I ditched Netflix, Spotify, AND my tap lessons. But Dropout didn’t even come within touching distance of the culling zone.

@@atomaweaponso you just drop in on their comments because you were in the neighborhood, and definitely not because you’re a troll with literally nothing better to do?
I found Dropout when I came across a fan made highlight reel and I was hooked. The sheer terror in Brennen's eyes: "Hello.... I'm... 50?" I've never openly wept from laughing that hard before.
this video has been out for 7 month, ive had dropout for FAR longer than 7 months, and am JUST NOW realizing the wordplay from collegehumor to dropout and feel like a fool
My main thought during this video was: “Oh, it’s a CEO sketch, but good news!” Massive thanks to everyone from Dropout. Discovered y’all ~2 years ago and you’ve been my highlights ever since. Can’t wait for more!
I think this is one of the few re-brandings that actually make sense, especially since college humor's comedy has matured a lot especially in the last few years and is no longer the once crass college humor it actually was. I do hope that sketches will come back though.
so sad I missed that! I was even confused, did Dropout make a new channel that I obviously subscribed to without remembering? No! It's the coolest rebrand of the decade!
One of the things ive rlly liked about Dropout so far has been the times when they pause and bring attention to the crew behind-ish the scenes. The d20 sets, just about every prop of Game Changer, and the laughs behind the cameras not just left in but *subtitled* (thank y'all, i have bad ears)- these things don't just happen off the power of the big faces. It's a bigger team effort than that and I appreciate it every time. Y'all have been me and my fiance's favorite since the plauge first struck and I don't see that changing soon. Y'all have a good one! :D
Dropout deserves all of the praise it receives, and more. Ethical, inclusive, irreverent, topical, and timeless comedy. Plus cameos from all over the internet. Kudos to all of the cast and crew. For the rest of my life I will hear the honest question, "Where are you from," out in the wild, and I will laugh inappropriately and pray someone responds "Cambridge, Massachusetts." It gets funnier in callback every year.
I just wish there were more budget for shows like Gods of Food, or even just the old Hardly Working sketches. But I get those take a lot more time and money to produce, and as a rogue streaming service that has barely raised its prices compared to greedy hogs like Netflix and Amazon Prime, they might have neither time nor money to make those bigger shows.
1:57- from as many times as they've been on camera together, I've never realized the height difference between these two Also Aabria's "I hate change" was masterfully delivered!
What I've learned here is not only that Dropout has worked so hard to get where they are today, but also that Brennan can't leave the building until he finishes a whole bag of potato chips, Trapp doesn't need a computer, and Ify and Lily's time MUST be respected. So proud of the progress this channel has made over the years! Here's to five more years!

It’s good to know that I get to watch funny things made by genuinely nice people getting to make fun stuff with their friends. Here’s to another 5 years!
loving the vibes of literally any other company making a big bullshit announcement on a five year anniversary, while actually announcing almost nothing except for the death of trapp's computer interspersed with jokes about how brennan isn't allowed to leave. very Comedy. 5/5
I loved CollegeHumor, especially right towards the end. It was saddening when it went under but it was equally so cool seeing Dropout rise from its ashes like the phoenix. Congratulations to you all! What you've accomplished is truly special!
I remember watching CollegeHumour in my mid teens. I had no idea it would grow into this. This is possibly the business I am most proud to support. You guys are transparent, creative, entertaining, and it's clear everybody involved is in love with what you're doing. I love how it's never felt like it's about the money, I love how everybody is totally open with their identities and supportive of one another (and it's not treated like a big thing), and I just can't get over how this feels like one of the most successful creative labours of love I've ever had the joy of supporting. You're all wonderful people, and I hope to still be supporting you guys in another 5 years' time.
That actually makes things a lot easier. Occasionally we'll have to say Dropout (formerly CollegeHumor), but that's an inevitable minor inconvenience whenever anything changes its name. 95% of my favourite content from you all has been during the Dropout era. Arguably I'm a much bigger fan of Dropout than I ever was of CollegeHumor. (Edit was to correct a typo. I originally wrote "bent" instead of "name".)
I will say, the original Troopers sketches were the main reason why I payed attention in the first place. They're what I think of when I see CollegeHumor.
My life hasn’t been great lately. A lot of bad luck and financial woes. Despite all of this, I’ve never once considered cancelling my Dropout subscription because I believe in supporting artists and God knows that shows like D20, Um, Actually, Game Changer and all of the other great shows on Dropout have helped me get through such turbulent times. Long live Dropout 💛
I was not okay with this until I heard Ricky say "just use one." Now all is right with the world. Thanks Dropout, keep going, we'll keep supporting you.
Not only do they have good content, they as a company and their employees have consistently made ethical choices and been very vocal with their activism. I will probably drop all my other streaming services before I drop Dropout.
Dropout shows like Dirty Laundry, Game Changer and Make Some Noise have been a staple of my comfort shows. So glad that you guys are still around and making good content.
I have a bit of sadness at seeing Collegehumor gone. The name, the logo, even the "HUHH" sound, were all a part of my life growing up, but that feeling is overwhelmed by a feeling of pride and joy in Sam and the team of Dropout. Ive been subscribed to dropout since day 1 and watching you all grow is truly revolutionary. Keep on moving forward and do your thing. Youre all true Game Changers!
Definitely! Endlessly creative, pushing the barriers of what entertainment should be, and a beacon of positivity to us, and his fellow workers! On an unrelated note, I am interested in what his childhood theater was called
We fell in love with Adam Ruins Everything waaay back when and later Game Changer and Um, Actually. Recently began digging into Dimension 20 and we can't wait to watch more. Ya'll are truly our favorite creators in the industry not only for your incredible humor, but your integrity as well.
I still can hardly believe that there's a company that I'm gladly paying money just to watch stuff online. Honestly, it feels like a patreon to make sure Dim20 keeps going for as long as there's a will
I don't think I've ever respected an organisation and the people that work for it more, you guys are doing oh such a good job, can't wait for what's next
Dropout is so good because you can feel the passion of the cast and crew. They’re doing things they like to do, in a world where that’s rare. I’ve never regretted a single penny I’ve spent on dropout.
Did not expect Ricky doing the "just use one" bit to make me full cry. Congrats Dtopout. I've been hooked since Josh's Mindhouse, and you've been making me smile since. Like for real added up together, add it together and that's like a month worth of my life just fucking happy and that's on you.
Hey, Sam, gang here. Every show on Dropout has a spark of passion behind it and driving it. I don't think I've watched a single show where I thought any of the cast didn't want to be part of the shoot. Don't be afraid to stick with what you love, and don't be afraid to try new things. Follow the passion and joy, and keep things genuine, and I'll write another comment on the 10 year anniversary video.
Congratulations guys! You passed the statistical threshold! A sizeable chunk of businesses end within their first 5 years, and thus making it to this point is a huge milestone. Here's to more content in the years to come!
So happy for you guys!!! So glad y'all are doing so well, here's to another fabulous 5!
There is genuinely no other company with as much heart and soul behind it than this one. Anyone I meet who is tired of all the same old boring Hollywood and corporate shit out there, I always tell them about Dropout. It's gotten me introduced to DND, made me laugh harder than any comedy movie out there, and is a service I legit dropped (out) Netflix for. Love the enthusiasm and the honesty. You could always turn the company into a co-op, especially if you fear that the company might not survive the next recession or big economic catastrophe. Co-ops are known for being much more resilient both in economic downturns and in general. And you would put the worker's rights (and sustaining the company and therefore the quality content) at the first priority because they then have a guaranteed a say in how the company is being run.

God damn, I missed all their old stuff. Can't believe they've been around for nearly 25 years? It's always so inspiring to see how far Sam has come, despite the fact that his parents died in a plane crash
What's the original context of the line?
If you compare this to the lifeless promos that Netflix and other media companies do, the difference is that Sam is sincere and I actually believe him when he says his company doesn't suck. I'm very happy for Dropout. Wish you all the success in the future. Here's to having more companies like this.
It also helps that Dropout was very openly in support of the writers and actors strikes this year. But yeah no it genuinely feels sincere from these guys.
Yeah also the fact that they stopped production for the writers strike, only to find out that they were in compliance and could continue filming with their union employees.
@@MommyOfZoeAndLiam Legitimately, what a power move to look at the writers' strike punching Hollywood in the nards and go "oh, we were already doing what they're asking for anyways because we're not douchebags" and then keep cranking out some of the best content on the internet
i did find it weird it was still called College Humor, love the rebrand. Also love the acknowledgement that Lily's outfits are the highlight of the platform. Congrats on 5 years!
😮
Is that a new haircut she's rocking too? It looks fab.
Lily's outfits are fire! She's a style icon, for sure!
I was watching the latest dirty laundry today and all I could think while watching it was how great she looked.
Back when I started watching it my mom wouldn't let me because she thought "college" humor would be too mature
Sorry, no points awarded! You did not say "Umm Actually!" at the beginning of the video! But our family will always support Drop Out! We love you all!
Um actually it’s “Dropout” not “Drop Out” 😛
Nor did he once utter the words "Sam says" so we don't have to do anything he said
Ricky's "if you're going to use two, just use one" bit at the end is a great goodbye to all the long time CollegeHumor fans like myself who still love to go back and watch the old videos. Happy to see the company grow back up and here's to 5 more years!
that was amazing
I read your comment before watching this and SQUEEEEEEEEEE'd anyway.
What a great callback!
I laughed out loud!!!
It brought a tear to my eye... a tear of soy...
"Dropout has quickly become my girlfriend" -@JoshIdstein
God thats adorable
"Dropout has quickly become my girlfriend" - You could have stopped there 😀
Dropout is truly the only entertainment service I am willing to pay for because you can tell everyone really enjoys making their shows
Seriously my only subscription where I don't occasionally wonder if I should cancel it.
Yep, this year when my bills went up I ditched Netflix, Spotify, AND my tap lessons. But Dropout didn’t even come within touching distance of the culling zone.
Agreed. It's only service I actively choose to let run while it's in its off period (I go through cycles of which platform I watch at any given time)
exactly!! the cast and crew seem genuinely invested and the environment seems to be healthy and focused on delivering good shows, while also appreciating the team as a whole. as it stands, even if i cancelled everything else, i would keep dropout.
drop out and Worlds beyond number for me.
CollegeHumorNowDropout has been a hugely important part of the internet culture for so long. Congrats to Sam and everyone else for making it through these last 5 years!
The Dropout Formerly Known As CollegeHumor (aka unpronounceable pretention) 😁
My favorite part of dropout is that they don't edit out the crew laughs. It's fun to see everyone having a good time.
or, in Brennan's case most of the time on game changer, just lose it and hold an hour long monologue about literally anything...
I was a little sad when college humor spiraled. Seeing dropout emerge and be this strong is fantastic. Great job to the whole team.
Well, if you're in college for over 20 years and never managed to graduate, it might be time to *_drop out._*

I'm sorry, I'll leave now.

My main thought during this video was: “Oh, it’s a CEO sketch, but good news!”
Massive thanks to everyone from Dropout. Discovered y’all ~2 years ago and you’ve been my highlights ever since. Can’t wait for more!
I always love the wacky names they come up with for the CEOs in these skits.
"Sam Reich" LMAO what will they think of next?

It must be weird having a boss like Sam who seems to have so much joy in his work at a media company.

What's the context? It went over my head lol
Best part of the video for me, gave me a giant smile!
Ricky giving his blessing through that line made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside, and made me totally on board with Sam's decision
I think this is one of the few re-brandings that actually make sense, especially since college humor's comedy has matured a lot especially in the last few years and is no longer the once crass college humor it actually was. I do hope that sketches will come back though.
the amount of happiness I felt when I saw Ricky and Josh is indescribable

I know right. The CH still sometimes shows for me, but it's mostly settled down to the Dropout branding now.
literally did the same thing
so sad I missed that! I was even confused, did Dropout make a new channel that I obviously subscribed to without remembering? No! It's the coolest rebrand of the decade!
I was a few minutes late and tried going to the CH channel to be told it doesn't exist ha! (I was on a shitty tablet)
woah crossover hehe! 2 of my favourite creators (I mean Dropout is a bunch of creators but y'know)
One of the things ive rlly liked about Dropout so far has been the times when they pause and bring attention to the crew behind-ish the scenes.
It feel oddly right to bid CollegeHumor farewell. It was, and continues to be, an incredible journey. Thank you CollegeHumor, and goodbye old friend.
1:57- from as many times as they've been on camera together, I've never realized the height difference between these two
Also Aabria's "I hate change" was masterfully delivered!
What would we do without Ify and Lily ❤
Dropout is the only subscription I’m ever truly happy to see come out of my bank account. I’m so glad to be able to support the great work of good people.
This is so damn true. I hate subscriptions but this is the wonderful exception that I don’t mind even a bit paying for
SHOW IDEA... can you do an interview with each of your non-on camera talent staff? their backround, examples of their input, their story. That would be super cool.
The shot of Sam walking through The Dome lit up with pics of the staff and crew... I got some feel-good chills. I love Sam's enthusiastic support for the people he works with

Saaaaaame
I will say, the original Troopers sketches were the main reason why I payed attention in the first place. They're what I think of when I see CollegeHumor.
I *still* don’t know the difference.
To be fair, that's literally what Lou called the company when he revealed their opinions on the OJ Simpson case...
Same here.
My life hasn’t been great lately. A lot of bad luck and financial woes.

This is so sweet. Sam should see this. :D
How does a co-op structure provide resiliency? /genuine
