      @tingsG Год назад

      @@redditrecall439 i mean, they were the brand (so they can leech off their brand all they want). then collegehumor ceased to exist, but sam wanted to save it by through dropout, which had barebones employees to cut down on spending (like Mike and Brennan while others are all fired). Collegehumor was also going downhill at that point, their view counts were a lot lower compared to their hey day and it was clear they were fizzling out for some time. And honestly, their first show was a DnD show which was a gamble. Sure Critical Role was pretty well known at that time, but it was likely the only tabletop/ actual play game that was getting high no. of views. So yes, the sudden explosion of tabletop/ actual play games' popularity throughout the covid pandemic was "dumb luck". We were all stuck inside, and had a lot of time for watching new shows or rediscovering our old passion for dnd. No one could've predicted this was gonna happen - so yes, dumb luck.

      @@shreym03 I agree for the ammount of content, but not the style and crew. from what i have seen, and my experience, watcher works because shane and ryan are fun to watch. I do not know if i would care if one or both left. however, dropout already had a team of on camera personalities to do many of the shows. also, dropout does release some of its content on youtube still. they do many shorts for each episode of their shows, and sometimes full episodes. the way watcher presented it was as if there would be nothing on youtube anymore
      also, watcher has a patreon they will still have while from my understanding dropout does not.
      and a lot is luck and timing. I feel like there were not as many streaming services 5 years ago compared to today. to watch the tv shows i like, its at minimum 5 seperate services. 5 years ago, all i needed was cable and netflix and i had access to everything (anime was also easier to pirate so). now dropout is established enough for its own brand. they also were not still using the college humor name for this shift.

    Did not expect Ricky doing the "just use one" bit to make me full cry. Congrats Dtopout. I've been hooked since Josh's Mindhouse, and you've been making me smile since. Like for real added up together, add it together and that's like a month worth of my life just fucking happy and that's on you.

    Ayy they put the captions up!. I've been a Dropout fan since the inception, and a College Humor fan since forever. I am so glad, that Dropout is officially a tried and true company. I'm proud to be a subscriber and I will REMAIN one. Thanks guys!

    There is genuinely no other company with as much heart and soul behind it than this one. Anyone I meet who is tired of all the same old boring Hollywood and corporate shit out there, I always tell them about Dropout. It's gotten me introduced to DND, made me laugh harder than any comedy movie out there, and is a service I legit dropped (out) Netflix for. Not to mention that you guys have given us some of the best queer representation and overall diversity I've ever seen. Gay, straight, bi, black, asian, pacific islander, Hispanic, you name it! I could not be happier to be a Dropout subscriber, and I truly hope you all go so much further no matter what the world may look like, because in the darkest of times is when we need the widest of smiles and the heartiest of laughs! ❤

    Ok, so we got Very Important People and now Smarty Pants. We got a preview of Nobody Asked. As far as new shows, Thousandaires is still a mystery, and caught wind of a cooking show in the works (I assume inspired by my Comment on Dimension 20 about needing some Food content on Dropout... You're welcome :D) I'm curious what Dimension 20: Never Stop Blowing Up will be about. I'm so excited for Dropout!

    I have a bit of sadness at seeing Collegehumor gone. The name, the logo, even the "HUHH" sound, were all a part of my life growing up, but that feeling is overwhelmed by a feeling of pride and joy in Sam and the team of Dropout. Ive been subscribed to dropout since day 1 and watching you all grow is truly revolutionary. Keep on moving forward and do your thing. Youre all true Game Changers!

    So happy for you guys!!! Especially amidst all this 'we can't possibly pay writers' gaslighting from the big streaming companies, it's so nice to see you guys flourishing while taking care of your staff and taking chances on really cool projects. So glad y'all are doing so well, here's to another fabulous 5!

    CollegeHumor had me hooked in 2002 when it was just dumb internet links and memes. But over the years it developed into some of the best comedy around. Thank you Sam for saving it, and everyone who stuck around to keep us laughing despite the long odds. Wishing you another 20+ years of comedy gold as Dropout.

    Not only do they have good content, they as a company and their employees have consistently made ethical choices and been very vocal with their activism. I will probably drop all my other streaming services before I drop Dropout.

    Still a new viewer myself. Found this channel through Matt Mercer doing "Escape from Bloodkeep" on RUclips one day. Binged the whole thing. Then caught Brennan on Critical Role doing the "Calamity" story line and had to find more. Happy to say I picked up my own subscription to Dropout (did the yearly price) about 4 months ago and couldn't be happier. Thank you to the amazing staff, in all facets of the company, for all the hard work and dedication!

    I had no idea that exactly when I came to this channel was when you were struggling. I’m glad I did. Y’all were my reward for myself for sticking through hard times. I lost a lot of friends and family during Covid for various reasons. You kept me laughing. You made my first apartment of my own feel less empty when listening to your podcasts. You were my stress relief when I was learning how to figure out disability insurance. I’m so glad I even got to play a small part in keeping your company alive.
