Great episode highlighting the work we're doing over on the CSC:CS side for competitive CH 5 fret play! One correction to 30:27 - So long as you submit a qualifier, you're in, so literally anyone of all skill levels will be able to participate so long as you submit at least one qualifier score :)
Tourneys without Star Power still use score as the winning metric, but the charts just don't have SP. Off of the top of my head, that was the CH Olympics, where each chart was a mini-medley focused on one skillset (chording, strum endurance, tech strum, speed tapping, tech tapping, alt tap kamikaze, strum kamikaze), and the Saturday Cup, which was (is?) a weekly sightread tournament on a randomly generated 20 min track made from 3 to 6 random songs stitched together. In my experience, some people are under the impression that they want no-SP tourneys but really they want harder tourney songs, when winning isn't tied that tightly to pathing. They want to be able to win without having to learn the path, even if they miss some phrases. Which is fair enough, after playing in the CSC Invitational 3 I really thought the tier 1 and 2 songs where outrageously easy, which is then good because Invitational 4 really ramped up the difficulty hard as hell and I was a happy camper. If they're gonna complain this much about a very particular thing, I wish someone would get off their ass and actually do something about it if it bothers them so much. As part of the community management team, I tell everyone to come to us with your ideas and we'll do everything to help you, provide help, publicity, infrastructure, everything. The only people who actually contact us to organize things are all familiar with CSC and their tournament format, it's never any of these people who complain and it makes me sad, because I'd love to work with someone from the other side of the community who really *must* have new ideas that I'd love to help make happen. But I don't know how to communicate that to them, we're clearly not doing a good enough job at that somehow. EDIT: on the topic of Hyperkin, they're still working on it and it's a decent way along. I can't say anything else but they're working on it, it's not dead.
For anyone doubting themselves over the skill barrier required to enter the CSC open tournaments, don't hold yourself back. I entered one a few years ago and it was a great experience. You don't have to be the type of player who hits every note. I faced off against players who were comfortably better than me, but also I had a couple of opponents that weren't at my skill level. But it was all in good fun. Now I just play casually for fun, but the competitive scene is surprisingly chill. And you can always learn some skills by testing yourself against better players.
RIP to Rock Band 4's DLC 🙏🙏 At least we've got a new Lore Hero to watch to ease the pain :( EDIT: JASON PLAYED GUITAR HERO WITH TOMMY TALLARICO?? MY MOTHER IS VERY PR-
Hey I been watching your guys channels before the podcast for years it’s beautiful to see you guys come together I got a couple of crazy WR’s on Festival if you see my name it’s MikeXP18 love y’all maybe when duel comes out we can play
I wonder if Epic will attempt to bring FNFest into the competitive scene with that FNCS announcement from a while back, watching Pro Face-Off matches in FNFest would be insane
For scoring in fortnite festival perfect notes score 1.2X the base score and the hit window is 25ms back and front and in the code they can turn overdrive auto hit off
Yo I had a Nyko black memory card and a MadCatz translucent orange one, both for gamecube. They were terrible, the data constantly got corrupted, but damn, did they get a lot of use
Competition would do so much for my excitement to play this game. I'm surprised how much fun the system is to me but it's kinda boring being #1 on my friend's leaderboard for every single song. Since I'm not motivated enough to grind for top 10+ spots, something like ranked matchmaking where you just 1v1 people and get a rank would be perfect. Even without it though, Rock Band levels of DLC would be fucking crazy.

Bring kayfabe to GH 😂
It's funny that you talk about Fortnite x Spotify because Jarvis9999 is on there. So that means another Prevail grind.
