Beautiful area for a loop hike. Great memories of past trip there too. i also remember your trip. Super awesome meetup and adventure. Ah but this time you have your drone. Great footage showing the area from above. Lots of questions. Great to hear the responses. Awesome scenery. Well worth the hike and effort. Take care and have a wonderful day.
Not the day I was expecting regarding the weather but it still turned out to be a great days hiking and a Fell I always enjoy hiking around. I also enjoy thinking back to all the times I have hiked before with different friends and groups, great memories from there. Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan
The weather is starting to turn now and next week we are getting Artic weather pulled down over the UK, so ice and snow on the horizon I think. Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan
2:18 That look's amazing ....... 3:05 Time for a quick dip ...... 4:20 WOW !!!!! ...... 5:30 Gorgeous .... 6:50 Still some green on them trees ...... 12:30 What a sky ...... 16:50 Mother nature at her finest ...... 18:30 That drone gets it all ....... 20:30 Lights shining down from the heavens ...... 26:14 Cheers, brother.
I had a great day and so thankful to be back over the lakes again, been far too long. The weather may not have been what I was expecting but I enjoyed the day and managed to keep dry as well, always a bonus lol. Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan
Hi Alan, wow beautiful skies behind you , loved the water fall. The views from high were amazing. Beautiful orange colours of the leaves in the woods. Thank you for sharing a lovely walk , take care. Julie and Tony x
Glad you enjoyed it and although it was not the day I was hoping for I still enjoyed it and kept dry too, which is always a bonus in the lakes lol. Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan
Shame it has been dry all week as the falls there are pretty good but thankfully the rain did not come back when I was there lol. Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan
Was talking to a neighbour the other day and mentioned that she wanted to start hiking but found it hard to afford all the gear. I look at her rather quizzically and she added the pack, the jacket, the other special clothes, and especially the expensive hiking shoes. None of that is needed I said to begin just a walk around the block...and I said to her that Otis certainly doesn't mind company. She didn't take me up on it at that moment, but I have noticed recently she making her way around the block several times during the day. Take it easy to start, use what you have, take an easy route and just enjoy being outside!! Loving those clouds, and even some great pops of colours here and there!! Fantastic!!
Totally agree, no need to go out and spend a fortune at first, take it slow, take it easy and if you like it get something lightweight and good quality, the rest is all down to the weather lol. Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan
Hey Alan 😊 I love the circular loop up there the trail has some of my fav views over ullswater. Great hike lovely drone shots and nice to see the sun and the rays breaking through the clouds still I think towards the end.
Yes the sun was fighting a losing batter all day with those clouds but it was still a fun day out with no rain, which is always a bonus in the lakes :o). Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan
They are and I love real moody clouds in the sky too, always fascinate me, as long as they do not drop rain on me, I love them, Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan
Yes, I was told it was going to be full sun all day but it stayed dry and I had a fun day, so I was happy :o). Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan
Thanks very much for stopping by and not the day I was expecting but still enjoyed it and most importantly kept dry too. We are forecasted snow next week, so see how that pans out, cheers Alan
Good to see you back out again, Alan. A beautiful area any time of the year, but in autumn, it's spectacular! Another cracking video in great conditions. Sorry to hear of your loss. Take care.
Thanks very much for watching Mal and your kind words. Not the weather I was hoping for but still ended up a great day and I kept dry as well - always a bonus in the lakes, cheers Alan
Hi Alan, sorry to hear about your Mum mate, sincere condolences. Great video, Gowbarrow is a cracking little fella. Thanks for taking us along. I’ve given up on forecasts, MWIS have been shocking this year. All the best mate ⛰🥾😀👍
Yep, looking back the weather for the whole year has bee4n pants, so fingers crossed we get the opposite next year. Thanks very much for watching and thank you for the kind words too, cheers Alan
I have always preferred solo hiking. Now that I am older and have medical issues, I wish that I had a hiking partner. What a fantastic view of the lake... I can certainly see why you camped there. Awesome flight as well. Stay well Alan ATB
I am getting like you Max, preferring a hiking partner now, preferably someone as slow as me lol. Take care buddy and thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan
The difference between a hiker and a photographer, I thought the conditions weren't bad there Alan. Plenty of atmosphere in the scene around 20 minutes in, lovely light rays through the clouds. The addition of a couple of waterfalls and I'm in.
There sure was plenty of atmosphere Andy but I was promised plenty of sun, which sadly did not appear, which was a shame. Fingers crossed the murky weather is going to clear away next week. Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan
Another cracking walkabout and nice to see there are some walks most people can tackle and i like the way you dropped in previous video clips , Although you didnt get the weather you were promised the colours of the landscape would be a photographers delight with some stunning sights at every turn , Thanks for taking us along its appreciated .Kev
It was really just nice to get back over the lakes , keep dry and get a few views, full sun would have been a bonus mind but I ended up happy and also managed to beat the Friday afternoon traffic back too :o). Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan
A great video good sir. It got me to thinking. Up until the brain tumor, I had always hiked, canoed, mtn. biked with others. Solo hiking/, camping has been a liberating experience. One that I thoroughly enjoy these days. 👍
So true, I always feel totally free when I am out on the Fells and give thanks very day I am still able to enjoy the delights that nature has provided for us. I hope you are well and thank you so much for watching, take care, cheers Alan
It's definitely a beginner-friendly hike, but it's wonderful for anyone who loves nature. It seems quite a cold day, but this open and so varied landscape is breathtaking. The autumn colors are still present, which is especially nice to see on aerial shots. Sky scenes are awesome with their colors and sun rays and of course, the waterfall.
Couldn't agree more and although it was a cold day, for the time of the year, it is still pretty mind, so no complains on that from me. I was disappointed in the promised full sun not making an appearance but at least it kept dry all day. Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan
We had that the week before, it was grey, wet and miserable for about 7 days solid, so real pleased I got a good day to ship back over to the lakes, not as nice as I was expecting but at least I stopped dry, which is always a bonus. Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan
Thanks Carrie, a real nice little fell and on a real clear day the views are amazing. A walk I always enjoy and always look bac on my previous visits with affection, well, apart from the last one with Mrs Metalman when I nearly broke my knee lol. Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan
Hi Alan This is a splendid hike out onto Gowbarrow & I agree, when your head is full of stuff, the best way to get through it is a day on a familiar fell. Hope you're getting back on track now, it takes a while 🤗 Those mountain forecasts 😞 well I guess they are right quite a lot of the time but we always remember the times they are not haha. Talking of remembering, I was thinking "How nice to think back to your camping trip with Alan 54" but then you mentioned Glenridding Dodd & Sheffield Pike 🤣😃 Wow what a day that was .. bumping into you when I was out for a hike with the HH .. that was brilliant... don't think I've ever hiked on a colder day haha. You've got some fabulous shots on this video with the dramatic cloud formations and changing light. The colours at this time were wonderful with the mixture of evergreens and the golden bracken.Ullswater is beautiful. I love to see the waterfalls & btw agree with Mrs Metalman haha The MacDonalds hotel is Leeming House There's a few big hotels on that stretch so not sure which one that is ...will try to check it out next time I'm over that way. Great to see you back on the fells 😊
Thanks very much for watching Christine and good to be back out hiking in the lakes again and remembering good times on all three Fells with Alan and bumping into you and the Hiking Hermit as well - that was a cold day mind! Not the day I was expecting but it still turned out to be a great day, I kept dry, got some great views of Ullswater and beat all the Friday afternoon traffic back as well :o), cheers Alan
Hi Alan bet it's nice to be back there after 6 weeks. Stunning area and again you captured its beauty so well, the views all around are stunning with the autumn colours. Nice that you got to go. You got gorgeous drone footage where we could see so much, shame about the weather but it was still so lovely and great when the sun came out. Spikes are so handy for ice and snow for sure ... Loved the view of the lake and the Impeccable Inn sounds fantastic 😃 This looked a lovely time 🙂👍~ Anna
So nice to be back and I needed it as well, no hiking but plenty of food reviews, not doing my fitness levels any good or my wallet lol. The weather is set to clear next week, so hopefully I will get a nice sunny hike in then. Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan
It was and the weather sure is on the turn, next week we have the first real blast of the artic winds blowing over us too. Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan
Oooh, seems like a good one fir me to start on! 👍 I have to say, even though you didnt like that murky weather I thought it came out looking rather good ❤ Great video Alan. All the best 🙂
That's good of you marra and it was great to get back over the lakes again, always enjoy it, even though I did not get the weather I was expecting. Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan
Lovely hike this Alan the light is lovely! Always nice comparing to other times in the year you have done the hike. This is very different compared to when you did your wild camp! The views of Ullswater are stunning! Cracking drone shots! We feel you re not getting out hiking much and having too many treats, we need to make room for Christmas 😂! Feels like a lifetime since we have been to the Lakes so enjoyed doing this hike with you and seeing the fabulous falls and stunning views! 👍
Glad you enjoyed it and I always enjoy doing an old favourite and then remembering past good times spent, even when some of them were painful, as my last visit with Mrs Metalman proved to be. I was due back to the lakes today but had to cancel last minute, as real busy this week but fingers crossed I will be back next week. Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan
Great stuff Alan. I know how hard it is to get motivated ages after a loss mate. Enjoyed seeing this. Does make me want to venture up there. We miss Ceri & Kat too. A great couple. That sun tried its hardest to match the forecast. Love your drone shots. Really adds a sense of scale to the vids. A thoroughly enjoyable watch mate.
Thanks very much for watching and yes, I used to really enjoy Ceri and Kat and they did a great Christmas vlog a few years back showing their own individual lead up to the big day, which I thought was a great idea. Maybe one day they will be back, cheers Alan
Hi Alan, Pleasure watching it. Your jacket suggests winter may be approaching the UK? The mountains are dressed up with fall colors and the water fall is elegant. Are the mountains preparing for the cold weather? I am certain so many hikers are on your way. The picturesque views Tranquility Nothing to ask for I thank you for this beautiful loop hike. Bravo! We just got back from NC to FL for antoher evacuation. We were back for the US presidential election. The bad news is not only the contaminated water, but many hiking trails are closed due to the destruction. Some parts of the high ways are still closed. I miss hiking.. FEMA provide, shower, laundromat, water, and emergency food. No restaurants, no Starbucks...I will be in FL for the rest of the year, I reckon. flat and flat land. After 2 weeks of no premiere, I finally produce an adventurous film. Hope you enjoy it at your convenience.
Aw that is a shame about the contaminated water and hiking trails being closed, something I hope chances for you ASAP. Yes, the weather is starting to change now in the UK and the first real cold blast of winter is due next week, so got to get out while I can. Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan
Not one I've done before but I'll add it to the list, nice to see the national trust protecting those fells, it's been 5 weeks since I was last out my legs always start to itch when I haven't been out in a while. Nice video alan love them drone shots
Yep, I need to be out once a week to keep everything lubricated or I am like an old car, needing a lot of choke to get going and then warmed up. Real busy this week, so fingers crossed I can get out again next week. Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan
Those were some really great drone shots you took! I feel like you let your drone fly really far this time. Yes, it is really important to stay on designed the trails so you don't mess up the hillside. That's one of the main reasons why I hiked solo so I can film my RUclips videos without being rushed. That same spot where you once camped with your friend definitely has an amazing view! It was a funny story when you talked about the time you slipped on the rock after your wife told you to be careful, lol 😆.
To far, I lost track of it and panicked, thank goodness for that home button. I enjoyed the hike and also remembering the good times I have previously had on this hike - even the painful ones too lol. Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan
Totally agree but I was so disappointed with the weather as it was forecasted full sun all day, just as well my life never depended on that! Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan
Hi Alan, Fantastic walk this, even in the cloudier weather. We remember doing this walk in the winter, before coming back down to get the boat across Ullswater, we had to laugh when we heard your story of slipping, as that is what happened to Shell, accept she slipped in mud onto her bottom, she had to change into her waterproof over trousers so that they would let us on the boat with the non muddy people 😂🙈. It was still a great day, and we agree, Fantastic for a beginner navigation wise. Ah we miss tea in val too!😢. It certainly was worth getting the drone up, some very atmospheric shots over the fells and down to ullswater👌. Enjoyed that, full watch from us! All the best, Shell and Pete 😊👊👍
Yes, they had such a good channel and it was (rightly) really starting to take off as well but fingers crossed one day they will be back. Oh, I meant to say before I hope that bog shout out I gave your channel a few videos before did some good, it deserved too. Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan
@AlanMETALMAN oh my goodness, i have just checked back on that video, and our comment we put on whilst watching when you gave us that fabulous shout out has disappeared! 😢🙈. So sorry Alan, We really hope you didn't think we hadn't said thank you. We were both delighted when we watched, and it certainly has made a difference to our subscriber base since, onwards and upwards! All the best, and thank you again, Shell and Pete 😊🙏🙌
That looks like a great walk and maybe one me and tig could try sometime, it looks like a lovely first walk of this kind with some amazing views and falls :) It looks amazing there and would be a fantastic break from London :) Nice to look back on your camping adventures on the longest day :) I love all the autumn colours and beautiful views :)
When ever I do an old favourite I always think back to the previous times I have done it and remember the good times and laughs I have had. Good to get back over the lakes again, especially after all the wet and miserable weather we had been having. Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan
Hi Alan, still some wonderful images even though the weather wasnt as kind as you hoped and good call to put the drone up second time, great to get some miles in before the banquet in December, sorry to hear about your loss but LOL about the rocks when you was told to be careful, nice you taken us all back to ullswater cheers nigel
Thanks very much for watching Nigel and I appreciate your kind words. No, not the weather I was expecting but still a great day out and any day you keep dry in the lakes is always a good one lol, cheers Alan
Great video! I take the same snacks as you on hikes ,flapjack , dark chocolate and a banana or apple , I do take more water now than I used to after feeling the negative effects of under hydration a few times , best wishes pal 🦇🦇🖤🖤
Good stuff and I always take a load of fluid, my mate who always walks the fells has a brain aneurysm, which his consultant said was caused by being dehydrated while out hiking, so lesson learned there for us both. Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan
Yess alan gowbarrow is a topper mate i enjoyed seeing this one again loved it when I did it nice one to get a camp in last time you were here too i never thought about a camp where you and alan did class buddy I must admit i liked the sun and the atmospheric lighting here on this vlog obviously sunny is better but to the eye this was perfect here looking over to hallin fell with the fells in dark and the sun glowing mint and them burgers looked great from the earlier vlog there too good stuff mate shame the beginning water wasn't higher like it wasn't really that high when I done it too would have been nice to see in full flow great stuff buddy
Aye those burgers were amazing and just up the road at the pub in Dockray, I would have called in on the way back and done a food review but I was rushing to beat that Friday afternoon traffic lol. Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan
Top little walk, it was defo a struggle with them big bags on though, Can’t believe it has been so long since we’ve out, It might not of been our plan but that pitch has to be one of the best !! Give me a message mate and let’s get a day booked in, I’ve got a fair few annual leave days left so I can book a day off if you want to go mid week, Great vid as always mate 👍👍

One of my fave little fells, i think the views over Ullswater on the return are second to none
Totally agree but I was so disappointed with the weather as it was forecasted full sun all day, just as well my life never depended on that! Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan
Hi Alan,
Fantastic walk this, even in the cloudier weather.
All the best,
Shell and Pete 😊👊👍
All the best, and thank you again,
Shell and Pete 😊🙏🙌
Sorry to hear about your mum Alan, good to get back to clear your head.
Thanks Billy, real good of you and I appreciate your kind words :o)
Top little walk, it was defo a struggle with them big bags on though,
Can’t believe it has been so long since we’ve out,
It might not of been our plan but that pitch has to be one of the best !!
Give me a message mate and let’s get a day booked in, I’ve got a fair few annual leave days left so I can book a day off if you want to go mid week,
Great vid as always mate 👍👍
Cheers marra, I was send you a PM on FB :o)
