On October 14th, 2017, Canadian Brass trumpeter, Chris Coletti, performed the Haydn Trumpet Concerto with conductor Paul Haas conducting the Symphony of Northwest Arkansas.
Original cadenza by Chris Coletti: trumpetchrisbl...
Chris Coletti is principal trumpet with the Huntsville Symphony Orchestra and teaches trumpet at Ithaca College where he is Assistant Professor.
The cadenza is absolutely wonderfull!!
Thanks!
Bravo Chris. I liked how the applause started even before the end of the movement! Superb tone, intonation, technique and musicianship - you have it all my friend.
I like the early applause too :) Thanks for watching!
The trills and pyrotechnics are right on. TY Chris, for a great rendition. Love the cadenza, which is more fan-farish and akin to the Trumpet.
Absolutely stunning. Wow.
Amazing
Bravo!
Bella cadenza
Grazie!
Chris is actually unreal. I’ve never heard a better trumpet tone in my life and everything he plays is LITERALLY perfect I would give anything to sound like him
Thanks for the comment Chris' mom! (-;
No one knows fort sure, but probably only as an ornamentation. As performer it is your decision to play however you want, in this performance I decided to go for excitement over historical accuracy. It's fun to try both!
🐐
A very soft and warm but also confident tune, which you hear although the orchestra is playing also.
Best Greetings from a trumpet player from Germany
Thanks Julius!
It was the best sound I've ever heard.
So I'm curious about the sound equipment used in this video.

Outstanding, outstanding, outstanding...I love the cadenza. One question if I may. I have played this and have heard it many times and some performers approach the trills from above while others approach from the note being trilled. What is your take on this? My recollection of my college days was that the Baroque approached from above and the Classic from the note being trilled. Again outstanding performance.
I am convinced that the upper note is generally the way to go. I am not an expert on the subject, but I do find the following reference rather convincing: www.oldflutes.com/articles/classicaltrill/index.htm
Interesting...thank you.
I've never heard such a beautifull sounds
Thanks!
Loving the cadenza!
That was insane
Thank you!
I am absolutely in love with your tone
Thanks Matt!
Una gran interpretación. Te llevo siguiendo desde hace algunos años. A ver si pronto agendas algo en Chile.
Yo he tomado algunas clases de trompeta, y me gustaría retomarlas
Making it sound easy, with confidence and a generous spirit vis a vis the audience.
Thanks!
I love the original Coletti Cadenza!! Just when you think it can’t get any better, there it is! So tasty!
Just plain smoother than glass. Simply inspirational.
Wow i know this is late but i am a high school trumpet player and actually you are probably my favorite Professional. Thanks for being awesome!
my gosh, you have such control over the instrument to such a high degree where youre not even playing trumpet anymore, your literally singing the haydn with so much passion and such a clear idea. really looking forward to listen more of your playing!
Thanks for the kind words!
Wonderful piece performed beautifully. Thank you Chris.
Super ;)
Most of kids start to practise Hayden with B Flat Trumpet, while most of the video or recordings are played by E Flat trumpet. The sound difference caused me a lot confuse when I was very young, cause there is no way for me to use big trumpet to mimic a small trumpet sound. Very happy to see this version of Hayden played by B Flat Trumpet, which can be a very good reference.
Thanks for the comment! I am using an Eb trumpet in this recording, however-a Schilke E3L.
Chris Coletti is one of the all time greatest trumpeter. You have to be to be a member of the Canadian Brass😎❤🎺
Thanks Daniel!
Better than any version I have ever listened to. Amazing! The tone of your upper register is really clear and crisp. 5:30 and on is just amazing.
Thanks!
@@trumpeterchris I was wondering what mouth piece you use now, it looks like a Prana mouthpiece.
@@micah_wong It's a prototype Canadian Brass mouthpiece actually--should be publicly available soon!
@@trumpeterchris Thanks for replying, I will stay updated about that.
Outstanding performance.
Thanks!
Beautiful warm tone Chris, and just love the audience reaction to your wonderful cadenza. Would love to pen an arrangement for the Canadian Brass!
Thanks Keith!
