    I really liked the idea of having the dog carry an item. Not only do you provide the dog with a job, but by having him carry something as innocuous as shopping bags you tone down the anxiety that many people seem to have about so called "bully breeds".

    I've been around large breed dogs all my life as well as small dogs...never have I been bit by a dog that was an "attack breed". The dogs I got bit by? 2 chihuahuas and 1 miniature pincher. Don't worry about a dog that's a obviously trained.

    • @TomoyoTatar
      @TomoyoTatar 10 лет назад +19

      chihuahuas are crazy viscous creatures man. I'm scared of them. Yet somehow I'm not scared of doberman lol. I think it stems back to when I was a little girl I was chased for almost a mile by a psychotic chihuahua.

      I have 2 dogs right. And everyone is scared of them. Pitbull and a Alaskan malamute. I'm just like, for real the only dogs I've been bitten by was a yorkie and star frickin hurt. I gave also had a German sheperd and a Doberman. My dad bred dogs for fun and extra cash. I did not get bit and only the malamute was trained. Which I thought was horrible. I really don't want to ramble any longer even though I can.

      Same here, I've had a Giant Schnauzer and I've read they can be trained to be quite vicious, but their normal demeanour is a 'friendly giant' (my dog never attacked anything other than squirrels or rabbits lol) as is with most large breeds. The natural state of small dogs is confrontational to make up for their size.

    i was walking my Italian greyhound and did not have his harness on when we encountered another man who had his two dogs off leash. They had never bit anyone and in his mind were trained. From well over two hundred feet away they ran from his side to me and attacked my italian greyhound who was able to pull out of his collar and chased into the street to be hit by a truck. Don't tell me your dog or any dog is trained. It is irresponsible to NOTt have your pet on a leash.

      Benjamin Kikenberg *"No worries....if your fucking dog ever comes close to me Ill make sure to shoot it dead."*
      You had better be prepared to shoot me dead as well in that case.
      I've never had a dog that would threaten a person, but a person that threatens my dog I will be forced to take action against. I have never had to do this, but I also know I wouldn't hesitate if I were forced into that position.
      I don't want you to interpret this as a threat but there's lots of people like me. I cannot allow sociopathic assholes to get away with killing something I consider part of my family.

    • @fuzzywzhe
      @fuzzywzhe 8 лет назад +1

      Benjamin Kikenberg *"I don't give a shit about your anecdotes and how your dog never attacked anyone. Ill shoot it without any hesitation if it gets close to me or my property"*
      Again. I'm stating that if you were to kill my pet, you'd better be prepared to kill me as well.
      *"You come at me and Ill shoot you too in self-defense."*
      That's what you would have to do.

    • @fuzzywzhe
      @fuzzywzhe 8 лет назад +1

      Benjamin Kikenberg Well here's the point.
      You're all talk, I'm not.
      I've been active in dog rescue for about 20 years. My job is rehabilitation. I try to avoid confrontation but I have been involved with it.
      I've been threatened before but it's a rarity that people follow through.
      Based on your name alone, I can be fairly certain that you're simply trolling. Research indicates that makes you mentally unstable:
      www.psychologytoday.com/blog/your-online-secrets/201409/internet-trolls-are-narcissists-psychopaths-and-sadists
      I'm being very direct with you. I would do what I need to do protect my pets, and I've never had to break the law to do this.

    • @fuzzywzhe
      @fuzzywzhe 8 лет назад +1

      Benjamin Kikenberg *"It's ironic that you are shamelessly calling me a psychopath because I want to self-preserve and protect my person"*
      No. You're a troll. It's pretty obvious when you are using a caricature of a Jew that might be used by the Nazi party and based on your chosen name - especially given the history of the cartoon.
      Based on the fact alone that you enjoy creating needless arguments means you likely exhibit narcissism, Machiavellianism and psychopathy.
      The content of what you write is absolutely irrelevant, since as a troll you have no desire to actually communicate an opinion. Your only desire is to provoke a reaction in whatever way you can. In short, nothing you say can be trusted as being a valid opinion you actually hold.
      However, such behavior has been studied and the conclusion of the study is you exhibit the dark triad of behavior. Essentially, you probably need psychiatric help.

Some people feel uncomfortable or afraid when they encounter an off leash dog, especially this type of dog. Anyone that isn't aware of that or simply doesn't care about it shouldn't be allowed to have a dog.

      ***** What about if you were to go camping, etc? While I agree there is a leash law for protection and control, we shouldn't rely solely on them. Your dog CAN learn to stay with you thru pretty much everything, it just depends on the training, temperament and bond.

We never had him on leash, never kept him locked up, never bothered customers. He wouldn't aproach them, but he kept his distance. Never maid friends with anyone other than shop workers and get this, some how he learned the basic commands and would listen from the first time!! He was a machine! He lived till 12

    The dog should be on a leash. Responsible pet ownership means keeping your dog under control at all times and also working to ensure the safety of your dog. Both are compromised when the dog is off leash in an environment like this. The owner cannot quickly react if there's a stimulus that causes the dog to act in a way that puts it or anyone else in danger. Having the dog on a leash keeps the dog by your side so that if something happens, such as another animal becomes a threat, you can quickly get in the way and protect your dog. And even the most obedient of dogs are going to be seriously challenged if their chase/prey drive is engaged. Off-leash work should be done in controlled environments only. This is not that.

    People saying “this isn’t a trained dog” have no idea. First off most dogs would get distracted and go run away or run towards someone they see, second off most dogs wouldn’t want to hold something so you have to train them to hold it and wait until their able to put it down, thirdly he was good enough to ignore everything and stay on task.

There are certain circumstances where a leash just isn't sensible as in this case. The world has [grey] too, not everything is so black and white. Now open your minds just a little more and you'll have a better understanding of this world, it's people and animals.

I do think it's cool that the owner trained him to help with the groceries but it's just not safe for the dog or for people for him to be off leash. Sorry to rant. Not trying to be mean or anything. austin sullivan some people need to keep their opinion out of issues they will never.have first hand knowledge of. What many people are unaware of is that a leash can change everything about a dog's attitude. I had one who would get a terrible case of leash aggression which would get the other one all hopped up in alpha mode. Both of them growling and barking and lunging at any dog that got close. But as soon as I calm them down then release them, they're as friendly as can be. But at a couple of the parks I take them to have strict leash laws in the parking area. So I look like a maniac after all the commotion then I set them free. People still see what they want and I still gotta hear all the outrage and demands by.the other dog owner's who never did anything to keep their dogs away when they were all leashed up and now they overlook the fact that all dogs are playing nicely and expect me to put leashes on my dogs so they can feel safe. My dogs have never attacked anyone else's dogs but they all look like the one in my profile pic. For that reason only, I've had other dog owners call the sheriff or park police on me for enjoying the same park they do.. It sucks. Leashes suck

    Sir, I love your Doberman, and I hope he is well. The training and time you've invested in your best friend really shows. If only some humans could have been trained this well, what a better world we'd be living in.
    I have owned two Min.Dobermans at different times. My first Doberman passed away at 18, actual years, not dog years, he took a large part of my heart ❤️. I never wanted to buy another canine again, it hurt too much. Darn I'm crying again now, time to move on.
    The family kept saying I needed to get another, just make a different bred. After a while, yah maybe. So I went on line to a place, and the first canines picture that showed up was a black and rust Mini. Doberman 8 weeks old and so precious. I snapped him up and the reason I could do this was, I didn't own the first one as a baby, and we'd always wondered what he was like as a baby. So then I felt good about buying the baby one. There wasn't one day of feeling like I was replacing him. This little guy is now about 8 yrs old, full of love and life, and is such a comedian.
    Dobermans get a bad rap and very disrespected. When I see a Doberman no matter if it's German, or which kind, my eyes see a beautiful sleek precision animal. These canines are rated very high in intelligence, their idea of a perfect day is for a family member to take him for a long, or short walk. In hopes he will get to meet a new bunch of humans to visit and be friends with for life. Because he/she will never forget you. ❤️
    There isn't a mean bone in their bodies, They live to please. My puppy at 8 weeks old picked out one kitten out of a litter of outdoors cats. Approximately his same age. She was his first pet friend. I took pictures of them eating together on some mornings in the house. I had a 3 sectional colorful plate child's plate, I had warm milk and kitten food for her, and puppy had his food. They were so cute hanging out in the sun warmed driveway, or on walks with us around the yard🐾❤️

    Even if the dog is on a leash, a lot of things can happen, leash snaps off, collar come of etc. I have seen little / toy breed dogs snap those retractable leashes. Just recently I saw a retriever (14yrs) snap off the retractable leash he was on and his owner, an elderly gent (70+ yrs) fall backwards. Luckily no one got hurt and all was well. Leash or no leash responsible owners=well behaved and calm dogs.

    Got bit by a Doberman when I was a kid. I was standing on shag carpet and as I pet him we shared an electric shock. Had to go to the ER for shots and stitches. Never blamed the dog. He was just reacting. Twenty years later I became a letter carrier. I brought dog treats with me on my route. All the doggies loved seeing me every day.

    I guess I don't get the purpose of the video. 4:44 minutes of your dog trotting around with a plastic bag in his mouth? Why? I kept waiting for something to happen, did I zone out?
    As for the leash laws, just because your dog is well behaved and "worthy" of being off-leash doesn't mean that another owner doesn't think the same thing of their dog. Sadly, the 2 well behaved dogs may not agree that the other should also be off-leash.
    Besides, you had to keep yelling at him to get back on the sidewalk, which meant he wasn't where he belonged and you DIDN'T have complete control over him.

  • @vivcoso
    @vivcoso 11 лет назад

    This dog has more sense then most people. 1- he checked the street for traffic and 2-he went around the woman with the cart. Very well trained dog. You know animals do get tired. It looks as though he was getting tired. As for people asking about a leash, the dog wasn't bothering anyone. What you need to worry about is some of these people walking around. That's the biggest danger.

    Can't stand the smug dog owners like this - yes, your dog is beautiful and well-trained, but many other people don't know that. So just put your dog on a leash - it's a win win. You look like a responsible dog owner, and your dog can show off his/her good manners, and you won't scare others or make other people resent dogs and their owners.

      +Chris T Stop being scared. If someone wants to put their WORKING DOG SUCH AS A DOBERMAN to work in a way like this you can fuck off and stick to your dog parks. Just because you can't train your dogs to be like this and don't put in the time doesn't mean you need to be a dirt bag to the ones who took the time to do so.

    what a gorgeous dog! I was a weimaraner owner in NYC myself, where walking a dog off-leash is illegal unless in a dog park or before 8am and after 8pm in a park. I agree with the leash comment. Of course a Doberman deserves to be off-leash, but not in an urban setting. I would advise the leash, more to protect your dog from delinquent strangers, irresponsible cops, or simply to respect the nerves/peace of your community of the sight of a large muscular and off-leash dog that happens to be a safe mauling distance away from its owner.

    • @MaxPower888
      @MaxPower888 8 лет назад

      +jmar505 They don't just kill your dog, you will be fined. It is illegal to kill a dog unless they pose a threat. In this case, the owner could simply put his dog back on a leash and take the 50-200$ fine. If they killed your dog, you could easily get in some serious legal business with the NYPD. Of course in some cases, your dog may be confiscated from you.
      P.S. - I highly doubt a dog with that training could pose a threat, especially with something in his mouth.

      Max Powell
      im not saying that the dog will get himself into trouble, thus getting killed by the cops, im saying that the nypd will just shoot the dog. ive seen it happen (TO A POODLE), i live here. my point is the police will take drastic measures where it is not needed because it is very much the norm for them. yes you MIGHT get a fine(AS WELL), and yes it might turn out differently, but given their usual behavior, even a well trained dog will probably meet its demise in NYC via nypd.

    What a beautiful red boy. He is so well trained. I cannot believe the stupid comments on "He should be on a leash." I'd been taking my current red boy at strip malls for training and socializing when he was all of 6 months old and ran into the most ignorant people. I gave up because people were calling the cops on me. He is TDI and CGC and currently have him in Agility For Fun Classes. My Dobies of the past 37+ years have always been been better trained than most peoples' obnoxious kids.

    Dobies are the best...one owns me. 12 months old. Very protective, she is well socialized. They just kick ass. In fact, a dog she didn't know jumped up on me in the park this am (German Shepherd) twice her age and she went into attack mode in a flash. Then backed off when the Shepherd stayed away from me. No bites or cuts...but damn she sounds vicious. Was really impressed.

    I used to have a rottweiler that while I was at work would jump the very tall fence and go to the same shop everytime and steal a loaf of bread, then jump back into the yard. I only found out when people saw me walking her. The town loved her and she had a better social life than I did.
