You've got a great set-up on the truck! While I don't have a large piece of property to drive around on, I'd love to have all my tools in one place. You gave me a few ideas! Thanks Russ!
If I had to recommend anything it would be a Milwaukee m12 cordless 3/8 die grinder. I got one for my birthday I'm super impressed with it, power of air and good run time. If you have to go up on the combine to cut a bearing collar, up on a bin or anyplace where an air hose isn't convenient it's a lifesaver.
I like the service truck idea I have through the last 21 years been fortunate enough to be able to limp whatever was broke back to the shop where tools were at. Russ thanks for sharing and showing.
Hi Russ, greetings from the county of Devon in England, it has been sunny here as well, really lovely Spring weather, watching you at 2250 hours on Friday 18 March 2022, all the best, love your videos 🏴🇬🇧✌️
We've done the same thing for the air hose. Put a valve to it, because when you couple it, it will leak. We mounted the reel to the handles on the compressor, always with it then. Nothing wrong with Hobo Freight!!! Just be picky on what you buy!! Same as Northern.... I'm tool poor now, dad's truck box is still full, my old truck box is still full... Simply because either one can get set in a pickup.. didn't take anything out of the shop for the new service truck, lots of old odds and ends and new tools... Still don't have enough 🙄 Those cheap wrenches are great for bending or grinding down to get into places. Under bed boxes are great for a lot of things!! Chains, blocks, jacks.. a crane on the back would be handy. If you lived closer, I have one, be just perfect 👍 I'd probably give it to you...
Hey buddy service truck is taking shape...you’ll get her dialed in as time goes along👍you know as well as I do service trucks must be adaptable...keep crushin it Russ 💪🏻and God Bless🇺🇸🙏🏻🇺🇸
I've never broken a Pittsburgh screw driver. I've had every Crapsman replaced at least twice. The Crapsman set is now in grandma's knitting box where they were apparently intended to be. Doc
@@Thomasfarmstn almost 30 years ago I broke 4 in one day. The Sears man said he wouldn't replace anymore, (he claimed I was using them as a pry bar). I brought in the piece of metal and told him to take out the BRASS screw without breaking it. He replaced the screw driver again and called security to have me band from Sioux City Sears store. I'm glad they are out of business.
Looks good Russ can never have enough tools and its allways a fact never enough. Jacks and blocks of wood are a good thing on your mobil unit. Can hear the frogs in the background nice to hear they just started around here. Good video have a good day.
Go to Tractor Supply or Hardbor Freight and get you a couple packs of those rubber twist ties (believe they are 12-16” long) to strap you air hose down to the hose reel
I have the same complaint with the Pittsburgh wrenches that came with my 301 piece kit. I went back to H.F. and bought the much better Chrome Vanadium polished wrenches to augment the cheapies that came with the 301 piece kit.
I’ve used Harbor Freight tools for 40 years. They are what you pay for but still better than broke down and no tools. I wouldn’t buy anything electric or air tools from them. I still go back to my Matco and Craftsmen tools that l had when l was in maintenance for years in my shop tool box.
Russ, I would highly recommend you mount the compressor on rubber isolators. Otherwise, in a period of time, the vibrations of the compressor will result in fatigue cracks on the tanks, cannot be welded. That is why they come with the isolators. Good luck!
It just seems like the companies that design toolboxes have never used toolboxes. I like the Menard's Master Force I got, but the short draws need to be 3/8" taller to be able to use the tool organizers. I would love to see how they would lay out their toolboxes, lol. Thanks for sharing.
Looking good Russ!! With my OCD I dread starting to stock my service truck when the time comes, but liking your ideas you went with!! Hard to beat harbor freight tools for the money, and they are less than 2 miles from the farm!! Looking fwd to seeing you expand the truck as you figure out what is most important out in the field!! Shop looks like it's stocked very well also!! That weld cart is perfect, you did good!! Thank you for the explanation of both the truck and the shop, looking fwd to planting time and updates!! Thank you Russ, for bringing us along!!👍
Harbor freight is 35 minutes from me. Northern is 2 hours. One reason I have so much Gear Wrench is because my local Car Quest carries them. I love Gear Wrench.
@@GosselinFarmsEdGosselin That's what I was kinda kicking around, cause I will have to keep everything towards the front because of the gooseneck 🤦 I was thinking maybe run some supports down to the bed floor too, to help keep from putting so much stress on those boxes🙏 Thank you Ed!
@@Thomasfarmstn I am really lucky they are so close for sure, now northern is about 40 min from me. I like those gear wrench's for sure, need to check at the carquest around here too 🤔🤔👍😁
@@Thomasfarmstn Hobo Freight is 15-20 minutes away. Northern isn't even in the state. But everything is at the door step online.. as long as you know exactly what it is you are buying!! Used to be a few tool stores in the area, but all gone now.. big box stores finished them off😥
Thanks for the service truck & shop tool tour. I think our RUclips buddy Angleside Farm was trying to help his son sale some really nice LUND brand side boxes that would look really nice on the Ol' Dodge service truck. Yep, when it comes to tools like everything else, sometimes you get just what you paid for. That being said, some tool brands are way over priced too. Take care.
Thanks Russ Nice work truck look forward in seeing you as you improve it and nice handiwork making that welders card it looks great take care and God bless
We have Milwaukee sets and they are the best tools so far we can slap that giant box down and have everything you need for each job. I have noticed that nobody puts out a set of tools with everything in it . I don't want small sets I would rather pay for the whole thing and have it in the set. We get little stuff at harbor freight and they do just fine we have lots of various things from there
I know its deere but they have a air compressor welder called a weldeator but there pricey mite be something to look in too . Also a service truck needs a good vice
Thanks for the truck and shop tool tour. Hopefully you will not need most of those tools during planting and harvesting. I have 5 separate tool boxes in the back of my truck. Pretty much everything I need to do repairs and quick fixes at the farm.
Be careful pulling a gooseneck with that compressor. If the trailer doesnt have a high rise neck you'll hang the compressor turning. Dont ask me how I know.
@@Thomasfarmstn that’s even better you could drink while watching your worker lol just don’t forget your lounge chair that’s to funny you got to laugh at that

Our problem is we have too many trucks. I didn’t want all that on that truck when it was a daily driver.

We usually throw a handful of wrenches in the back of a truck. Never have the right one.

Nelson, on your box, you can mount an air compressor on top. Maybe bolt a plate down under it for support and so vibration doesn't crack the box.
