No complaint with that evening light. You got a nice bit of reflected light from the mountains on the right, illuminating the larches on the left shoreline as well. What a location. Thanks for sharing.
O'Hara is one of my favourite locations to hike, just beautiful there. I was definitely glad to finally get a decent image from the overlook. Thanks again, Richard!
The CLIFF bar makes my day. How many cycling rides I've eaten them. Epic shots and journey Adam. Thanks for sharing. Don't know how I missed this one. I've been following you for a long while now.
I really enjoy watching you hike through all these great locations especially since there aren't many videos on them! The final image at the end looked fantastic with that soft pink lighting and it was a nice touch to put yourself in there as well to add some scale. Looking forward to the next one.
Trip turned out pretty great! Fall color was early on the east side but I got some great shots from The Narrows and a couple tree shots in the main canyon. Planning on posting my day one video tomorrow.
Another beautiful area. I often wonder how you prepare for excursions on your own, in regards to safety from animals or accidents. What is your strategy if you cannot get out on your own?
Good question Glen. Perhaps I'll do a vlog about it in the future? Generally, I don't worry about wildlife very much. Having said this I do take the odd precaution such as bear spray, bear bangers, flare, it really depends on where I'm off to. Believe it or not but most of the areas that I have outlined in these vlogs are not as wild as they might seem. In most cases, there have been other people around. If I'm backpacking I'll usually carry a spot www.findmespot.ca/en/ a device that enables me to push a button for help if need be. If I were heading to a very remote area then I might consider bringing a sat phone, although these are not always reliable either. In this video, you may notice that I have a can of bear spray in my pant pocket. No guarantee but not a bad thing to carry now and then.
The place looks indeed impressive and your final shot is a real beauty. I guess you were happy with it despite the first part of the hike on the log route. Really fantastic landscape shot Adam
I am totally hooked and now find myself 'binge-watching' your vlogs... Amazing stuff! I'm sure there are many photographers watching who would love to know your camera model, lens choices, filters and settings for each photo... Any thoughts of incorporating that info somehow? Wonderful work, can't wait to see more, enjoy your journey!
Thanks so much Tyler, I really appreciate the positive feedback. If you click on the "show more" button just below the video description you'll find all of the info for each image. Thanks again!
Haha, I could fool you in saying that I was carrying well over 90lbs but in reality, the pack in tow was empty. I was bringing it along to try it out with camera gear.
So far I love the new pack. My old pack is an F-Stop Tilopa that worked well except it started to fall apart, most of the straps started to break. The Mammut Trion Pro is more or less the same, 50L +, the best part is that it opens from the back. It is a little narrower by 5cm but the F-Stop ICU's from the Tilopa fit fine or you can pick up generic inserts from Amazon at a reasonable cost. The best part is that the Trion Pro is $189.00 Canadian as opposed to $319 US ($407 Cdn) big difference. To be honest I think that F-Stop bags are overpriced for what they are. After all, they are just a pack. I will probably do a bit of a review in the not so distant future. If you're looking for a new camera pack check Mammut out.
great video Adam, and incredible location - perfect to be able to get in with nobody else around. lovely image at the end there - I like images with and without figures; sometimes the figure makes it work beautifully. I am in Sydney and shot a lovely panorama of the harbour with the bridge and the sky was just as I had been wanting - when I got to post production I noticed a woman sitting on a wall gazing at the bridge in apparent wonder. I had not seen her while shooting, but in so many ways, she make the image special. love your work - please keep it up!
Thanks, David! I usually take several with and without people in the images. Most calendars that I send work to prefer scenes without people so I take both.
Hey Adam, maybe you read this: What is the name of the plateau you mentioned in the video? I could not find it while searching on google maps. Just collecting some great locations for a trip to Canada next year or so. Mainly photography-trip 😊
No! If you could the place would get very busy indeed. As it is the 11km hike keeps the numbers down to a reasonable amount. If the parks did open the road to bikes I would imagine that it would quickly get very busy. Thanks!
Fantastic video Adam, really stunning scenery. How long is the hike up to the Opabin Plateau from Lake O'Hara? Visiting in september this year and hoping to get there. Thanks Michael
Hi Adam! I've been watching your vids for several months and subscribed a few months ago. I've shared several with my shooting buddies here in Norcal. I admire your work and enjoy your personality. Two thoughts popped in my head while watching your Lake O'Hara video, published Oct 29 2017. The first is, I wished you'd say the actual date in your dialog. It could help those of us planning trips to your locations and we don't know how much time goes by between your filming and publishing dates. The second thought is, please name/credit the music. The song in the midsection of this Lake O'Hara video is really nice and I haven't been able to find it in Itunes or in a lyrics search. I'll have to ask my sons! :) That said, I'm a big fan and will continue to watch and share your work! Cheers!
Thanks for the suggestions. The music comes from a site called epidemicsound.com, it's a subscription-based site for RUclipsrs or you can just listen away for free. The best time to go in my opinion is the 1st October when the bus stops running. You will have to walk in 11km but there will be very few people in the area.
Thanks for the reply, Adam. Do you happen to remember the name of that particular song? I'd like to know it and the artist/group so I can hear more of their music. Thanks also for the reply on the time of your trip.
WOW! What a location! Art by god for sure! I was impressed with the load you were hauling in the trek in, how heavy was it? Is this location far from where you live? Sorry for all the questions but I would love to know! Finally, when time permits, would you do an up to date “what’s in my bag” type vlog at some point please? Really looking forward to the next instalment Adam, you are so lucky to have access to this sort of landscape. Take care and stay safe please.🍀👌
Haha, thought someone might say something about the load. The pack strapped to the back of my pack is empty. I brought it along as it was a pack that I purchased on my way to Yoho. I really wanted to try it out so strapped it to the back. The reason I brought it along was to test it out for a future "what's in my bag type of video" I'm happy to say that it works like a charm and I'll be talking about it in a later video. The Canadian Rockies are not that close to home. I live just outside of Vancouver, on the west coast. The Rockies is about a ten hour drive, not far ;-) Thanks, Andy! good to hear that you are enjoying the vlogs.
Adam, many thanks for getting back to me. Re the pack, I thought you were some sort of superman, I am a 1964 child and can lug a bit but not two backpacks lol!!! I have followed your channel for a long time now, your being an expat AND a landscape photographer really inspired me from the off. Your work is first class, the cinematography is brilliant.👌 Keep doing what you do so well and your channel can only go from strength to strength.🍀👍
Ah, so you are the same age as me, just turned 53. Yeah two full pack would have been a bit much. Thanks so much for the encouragement, glad to hear that people are finding them inspiring. Sometimes I really don't feel like filming, especially when I just crawled out of my tent. haha. The encouragement keeps me going. Cheers!
Just go when the bus stops running (October 1st) walk in and you'll have the place to yourself. You will still have to book the campsite but there will be no one there or very few.
Great video Adam, that closing shot is awesome but I think I would have preferred it without you in it (no offense) I think wilderness is better without people in the shot. That double backpack hike in looked uncomfortable. Looking forward to the next installment.
What! haha, no offence taken. No worries I have the same shot without me in it as well so all is good. The double pack looked awkward but it was actually an empty bag hanging off the rear. It's a new Mammut pack that I purchased and wanted to try out so I strapped it on. I'll be reviewing the pack at some time because it makes an awesome camera bag at a fraction of the cost.
I liked the final image you showed, the sky and light, obviously, but also the shapes of the lakes and trees in the centre. However, I’d have shopped out that idiot in the red jacket.
Beautiful place . Fantastic photo at the end .
Stunning images and location. Worth the hike up
Most definitely, thanks Paul!
When in that area I missed out on this track up; drat ------ what a location Top Class and a lovely photo.
Wonderful Image! with you in this magnificent nature.
Thank you!
Stunning place, and what a great photo, looking forward to the next episode!
Thanks, Adam! next episode all ready to go.
No complaint with that evening light. You got a nice bit of reflected light from the mountains on the right, illuminating the larches on the left shoreline as well. What a location. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks again, James! the dusk light certainly surprised me, it was a lovely evening.
Wow what a spot... And what a shot!
I've been following you for a long while now.
photo and location ... just brilliant. Thanks for sharing!
My pleasure, thanks for the feedback.
Another fantastic video, Adam!
Thanks so much!
Very nice video. I cannot wait for the next video of Lake O'Hara. Well done, Adam.
Thanks, Ivo! here is the second video from Lake O'Hara if you're interested ruclips.net/video/daqAVCV_QNI/видео.html
Lake O'Hara - one of my very favourite places. I have hiked this road and the other trail in a few times.
Beautiful photo Adam - well done.
Thanks, Peter!
Adam Gibbs a beautiful job, wonderful place, a big hug since the heat of 38 degrees in Brazil
Ouch! too hot. It's really nice here in Vancouver 16 degrees, sunny. Thanks so much Fran!
Awesome Andy thanks for sharing!
Thanks, Steven!
Amazing adventure Adam, and that image, just WOW! Cheers for sharing mate.
Thank you, Henry! Good to hear, cheers!
more great shots as always love your work
Thank, Bill! much appreciated.
One of the more beautiful places I've ever seen! Looked to me like you were alone there. No one else camping nearby?Incredoble solitude...
Thanks, Martin! Just one other tent. In the summer it’s usually full so late fall is an excellent time to go.
Very nice video! Your so lucky to live in such s beautyful country!
Thanks so much Michael! I am indeed lucky.
Adam, you are doing some brilliant work. I wish I could make some the trips that you do. Keep exploring
Thanks, Jeppe! Occasionally I take some keepers, ;-) Thanks, again.
Fantastic content Adam quality images and I like the reverse drone footage in some of your other videos .
Thank you, Paul!
I really enjoy watching you hike through all these great locations especially since there aren't many videos on them! The final image at the end looked fantastic with that soft pink lighting and it was a nice touch to put yourself in there as well to add some scale. Looking forward to the next one.
Thanks, Nick! how was your trip to Zion? looks like you got some great images from what I found on IG?
Trip turned out pretty great! Fall color was early on the east side but I got some great shots from The Narrows and a couple tree shots in the main canyon. Planning on posting my day one video tomorrow.
Great video. Thanks a lot for sharing it and taking your time to make it.
Good to hear, thanks for watching.

Really wonderful Adam, your vlogs keep getting better and better. Stunning location, so different to the landscapes I am use to Ireland.
Thanks for the encouragement Peter! Yeah I guess it is a little different, I'd love to check Ireland out one day.
Wow images and content just gets better and better Adam
Great to hear, thanks Andy!
The place looks indeed impressive and your final shot is a real beauty. I guess you were happy with it despite the first part of the hike on the log route. Really fantastic landscape shot Adam
Thanks, Gregory! As I mentioned the hike isn't really that bad as long as you're not carrying to much camping stuff.
I am totally hooked and now find myself 'binge-watching' your vlogs... Amazing stuff!
I'm sure there are many photographers watching who would love to know your camera model, lens choices, filters and settings for each photo... Any thoughts of incorporating that info somehow?

Many thanks Adam, I should have looked there first before sending my comment:)... thx again for the reply and keep up the great work!
Nice double backpack loadout. ;)
Haha, I could fool you in saying that I was carrying well over 90lbs but in reality, the pack in tow was empty. I was bringing it along to try it out with camera gear.
Ha, now I understand why you seemed to be strolling along quite easily, you were fooling us!
On a more serious note, what are the results of your test? Maybe you could even do a video on your choice of backpacks for the outdoor photographer.
So far I love the new pack. My old pack is an F-Stop Tilopa that worked well except it started to fall apart, most of the straps started to break. The bus stops about the same time this year. Heading in then.
Beautiful
Thanks, Nigel!
Amazing views Adam!
What an absolulty beautiful location ...*grabs passport* of course the red jacket syndrome ;) ..I'll let you away with it :)
Haha, yes out comes the red jacket. Could do a whole portfolio with red jackets and red canoes. Thanks again, Nigel!
This looks wonderful, Adam. Me and a friend are thinking about going early September. Thoroughly enjoy your work keep it up!
Thanks, Have a great trip you'll love it there.
Hey Adam, maybe you read this: What is the name of the plateau you mentioned in the video? I could not find it while searching on google maps. Just collecting some great locations for a trip to Canada next year or so. Mainly photography-trip 😊
Opabin 🤘🏻
Can you bike it? Fat bike with a trailer would be easy, quick and comfy! And awesome selfie, btw!
No! If you could the place would get very busy indeed. As it is the 11km hike keeps the numbers down to a reasonable amount. If the parks did open the road to bikes I would imagine that it would quickly get very busy. Thanks!
You are so... lucky Adam. Likewise, like you, I would want to photograph everywhere ...
Hello Adam, Which lens and what focal length did you apply to the final image? Congratulations, beautiful image !!
For that shot, I used a Nikon 16 - 35mm f4.0, thanks, Paulo!
Q: When you bought your jacket, did you choose the colour to emphasize your photos or was that just luck?
Fantastic video Adam, really stunning scenery. How long is the hike up to the Opabin Plateau from Lake O'Hara? Visiting in september this year and hoping to get there. Thanks Michael
Thanks, Mike! The hike is not far, about 3km. The elevation gain is about 375m so a bit of a climb but not terrible.
Thanks Adam, appreciated, will give it a crack for sure!

I believe it's called Call It A Day by Tommy Ljungberg
Thank you!

Adam, the effort you put in to make your videos are very much appreciated mate, trust me.🍀👌
Yeah, don't stop making these - I shoot primarily desert southwest and I don't make videos but I still find them inspiring.
hello, it seems you took your camping stuff with you. I assume you camped somewhere? where (assuming you had no reservation) and how?
Just go when the bus stops running (October 1st) walk in and you'll have the place to yourself. You will still have to book the campsite but there will be no one there or very few.
@@QuietLightPhoto thx for the answer. Unfortunately I go there end of September
Fantastic location when I win the lottery I will be over 😂
You never know. Thanks, Paul!

I cant just drive up there and park my park before backpacking for 3 nights here?
Isnt this part of Alberta?
No you have to take a bus or walk in, it's 11km from the parking lot. Yoho is in BC, cheers!
@@QuietLightPhoto Oh man, I hope I can grab a bus seat for mid August! Did you ever go again and get some clouds?
I don't think you carried enough packs.
You can ever have too many lol
I liked the final image you showed, the sky and light, obviously, but also the shapes of the lakes and trees in the centre. However, I’d have shopped out that idiot in the red jacket.
