Regarding Jim - I ran the F/SF writer's autograph room at Dragoncon for nine years. At a guess he did between fifteen and twenty signings that ran two hours each. He was always friendly and patient with his fans, a very gracious person. Basically the same demeanor he presents in any RUclips interview. He's a good egg. No worries on that front.

      @michaelgray4964 4 месяца назад

@@tronjavolta The best part is that it's completely true. Butcher's lines for autographs were always somewhere between substantial and massive. He'd sign two books and take a quick picture (Which was our standard to move the line. If the line was short you could rejoin the line and get two more signed if you wished.) with every fan in line unless he was under time pressure to be on a panel elsewhere at the end of the time slot he was signing in.
He was unfailingly pleasant and generous with his fans and in general a pleasure to work with.

@@CaffeinatedCovers Nothing to be shy about. Writers show up at cons and do signing sessions because it is a way to thank the people who exchange real world money for their stories. Some can be crabby about it but the vast majority are nice people who are good to their fans. Jim is top tier on the kind/nice list. So is Laurell K. Hamilton, who I have seen signing when her wrist was absolutely screaming because she was GoH and did four massive two hour signings in one weekend. Sherrilyn Kenyon pulled a table outside the autograph room to keep working her remaining line after the autograph room closed because she was unwilling to turn a single fan away.

After the end of Skin Game the lyrics of 45 by Shinedown, the song that Harry and Mab dance to at his Birthday party, are very interesting. The song generally is very fitting for their relationship but the second verse (if planned) is incredible foreshadowing by Jim (and Mab, who knows about it since before Ghost Story).
--> Send a message to the unborn child --> Bonnie??!
And if that was on purpose: What is in the box?
My understanding: Mirror Mirror is the book about another universe, where MirrorHarry draggs "our" Harry through a mirror to use him as a scapegoat. I think he finds Chandler there and collects him for future blampire hunting and time shenanigans. The last book before the BAT (number 22 after the addition of Battle Ground and Twelve Months) is the one where Harry messes with the law about the currents of time (according to WOJ).
You really should read Cold Case. (: Besides info about the Lady Mantle and info why Carlos is behaving weird in Battle Talks I find the insight into Winter Law interesting (I kind of wish The Law would have been about "The (Winter) Law" but I am still hopeful to get that in the future because we got Max. I think the retired law professor is going to regard Winter Law and the implications for the knighthood very carefully in the future.

  • @Strafe862

By far my favourite book in the series thus far. A lot of massive changes occurred. A lot of significant information was shared and not shared. It also showed the humanity of Mab which is ultimately a very important thing. The functionality of magic and the further delving into the heavy hitters of this world. This was the first book for me where we see Harry as a true major player. Not just a curiosity for the big players but an actual threat to a lot of them. Great video! These long form takes are nice to see. Might have to reread a few again now.

One interesting detail of Battle Ground is that Harry's spine has healed. We know he can heal from just about any wound, given enough time. And there were two occasions in which Harry is stripped from the Winter Cloak by cold Iron. I one he remains standing, and another time he feels intense pain in his leg due to cold iron. HOw can a paraplegic feel pain in their leg?
I think he'll renounce his position as Winter Knight (Mab is suuuure to take it graciously), but I wonder about Molly. I think she's starting to get comfortable in that role.
Then again, she's Michael's daughter. That counts for a lot.

This is abit of a nonsequitur, but
The conversation I want to see is between Gharity Carpenter and Mab. Charity has enough residual magical ability to summon her snd Mab would be virtually powerless across the threshold of Castle Carpenter. Mab needs to understand that if Margaret dies needlessly through caprice or if her immortal soul is threatened. She will answer, to her. There's a reason Mab lurked in the bushes lurked on Christmas. She could enter, as she did to give Harry his gift, but it didn't occur to Dresden just how vulnerable it made her. Butcher may never pursue it , but I think it's perfect for a short story or micro fiction. The conversation I want to see is between Gharity Carpenter and Mab. @gerber8915 Margaret is Molly's real name. It's how her mother : Charity, referes to her. Charity, I'm not sure who Caprice is, Caprice was nowhere in my statement. Molly's mother : Charity was a potentially powerful practitioner who, for a myriad of reasons, set her power aside . She is also a formidable martial artist. She and Molly's Father Micael Carpenter are DEVOUT Christians. Margaret/Molly is their daughter and 1st born child. Leah and Mab basically waylaid her into being the Winter Lady. A position that, while not evil pursay, walks a thin line, increasing the danger to her soul. There's no way a woman like CHARITY, would watch that happen and just stand by. They have to meet, woman to woman, mother to mother, devout follower of the ALMIGHTY and human, to .... force of of nature. Is it clear now...

About Susan's resting place. I do not think it is Demonreach.
    from Changes:
“Okay,” I said. “I . . .” I looked back up at the temple. “I can’t just leave her there.”
“Will you take her back to Chicago, child?” my godmother asked. “Allow your police to ask many questions? Perhaps slip her into your own grave at Graceland Boneyard, and cover her with dirt?”
    “I can’t just leave her,” I said.
The Leanansidhe looked at me and shook her head. Her expression was . . . less predatory than it could have been, even if it wasn’t precisely gentle. “Go. I will see to the child’s mother.” She lifted her hand to forestall my skeptical reply. “With all the honor and respect you would wish to bestow yourself, my godson. And I will take you to visit when you desire. You have my word.”

Sure, let's explore both sides of the battle between Bloom and Maeve.
First, here are five reasons why Bloom from Winx Club might win against Maeve:
    1. **Dragon Flame Power**: Bloom wields the Dragon Flame, one of the most powerful magical forces in the Winx universe. This gives her immense offensive and defensive capabilities.
    2. **Versatility in Magic**: Bloom has a wide range of magical abilities, including elemental attacks, shields, healing, and transformation. This versatility can give her an edge in adapting to different combat situations.
    3. **Teamwork Experience**: Bloom often fights alongside her friends in the Winx Club, making her skilled in coordinated attacks and strategic planning.
    4. **Growth and Potential**: Throughout the series, Bloom's powers grow significantly. Her potential for growth could mean she might outpace Maeve in a prolonged battle.
    5. **Resilience and Determination**: Bloom has a strong will and determination. Her resolve to protect her friends and the magical universe drives her to overcome seemingly insurmountable odds.
On the other hand, here are five reasons why Maeve, the Fairy Queen of the Winter Court, might win against Bloom:
    1. **Immense Power and Influence**: As a Queen of the Winter Court, Maeve commands enormous magical power, including control over ice and winter. This elemental control could counter Bloom's fire-based abilities.
    2. **Fae Immortality**: Maeve has the advantage of fae immortality, making her exceptionally hard to kill. Her longevity gives her vast experience and knowledge in magic and combat.
    3. **Manipulative and Cunning**: Maeve is known for her cunning and manipulative nature. She could use psychological tactics and deception to outmaneuver Bloom.
    4. **Control over Minions**: Maeve has the ability to command a variety of magical creatures and minions. This army can serve as additional obstacles and distractions for Bloom.
    5. **Winter's Chill**: Maeve's control over ice and cold could potentially weaken Bloom's fire abilities. Extreme cold could dampen or nullify the Dragon Flame, giving Maeve a significant tactical advantage.
Both characters have unique strengths and weaknesses, making such a battle an intriguing and complex scenario.

This is a complete nonsequitur, but the conversation I want to see is between Charity Carpenter and Mab. Charity has enough residual magical ability to summon her and Mab would be virtually powerless across the threshold of Casa Carpenter. Mab needs to understand that if Margaret dies needlessly through caprice or if her immortal soul is threatened. She will answer, to her. There's a reason Mab lurked in the bushes on Christmas. She could enter, as she did to give Harry his gift, but it didn't occur to Dresden just how vulnerable it made her. Any use of supernatural power there would have gotten her at the least a beat down by the Almighty's bully boys, that would have made Ethinu's kick look like a kiss. Butcher may never pursue it , but I think it's perfect for a short story or micro fiction.

We don't know that the goatee version of Harry was truly evil pursay. He just seemed that way to *young stupid everything is binary, Harry. He represented everything * YSEIB Harry was contemptuous of power, wealth, dispassionate reason. But, remember what Mab says in the castle at the end of Battlegound " reason young wizard is the opposite hate, not love ". Everyone that soul gazes Desden is taken aback. I think they're in awe of what he is. And they all walk away convinced that Harry is righteous.
