I've heard a few versions. This is the best live, next to the studio version in my opinion. These guys just seem better when they let that rawness fly.

I am looking for a version from Ende Neu tour, when I got to see them at the Metro in Chicago.
The backing was much more minimal, involving a mic on fire and a mic'ed metal slide which they poured buckets of sand onto. Spinechilling.

Eerily intense. When Blixa sings, "Young woman, share your fire with me..." in that flat stentorian yawp of his, you'd be afraid not to, and you'd wonder, nervously, what he might do to you if you didn't. When Lee Hazlewood (who sang the original version of "Sand") sang "Young woman, share your fire with me", it was a request: when Blixa sings it, it's an order.

You fucking nailed it so radically, I could kiss you. As if the song wasn't dreamy enough, your description of it was a boner unto itself, and I so hope not to offend, but it was that good. If I had heard this song out of nowhere, not knowing Blixa - As soon as I hear "Young woman, share your fire with me..." I walk headfirst into a train, I give my first born child to werewolves, I don't ask any questions and I hand over any fire I ever had and collect it from the rest of the women folk until he has fire enough to do whatever he needs it for - Like I care. Lobotomy, sure!

I disagree. 🙂 Doesn't sound like an order to me. Not any more then in Lee Hazlewood's version, for sure. Of course, it's a matter of one's personal interpretation...
