This entire concert has her at her very best and well worth a complete listening. The beautiful venue plus the orchestra plus the choir plus the cinematography plus her angelic voice equal MAGIC!!
I think the oldest song she's ever performed was a cover of Scarborough Fair in the form of a music video that's set in medieval times. It's a cover she made for a Brazilian medieval TV series. I highly recommend it.
That whole concert is well worth viewing. Songs like "Lucky"& Eyes of a Child" are emotionally powerful. The Cathedral is about 700 years old and the acoustics are paramount. "Winter Bird" features a huge pipe organ which adds to the overwhelming sound. Aurora's performance is totally captivating and will cause you to tear up.
Aurora creates and performs from a genuin and timeless abode in her heartm and this hiit the same place in those who have their inner ear open. Love your reaction bro` !
Hey, thanks Einar! I'm really glad you enjoyed it. I'm a pretty small player in the reaction thing, but I do get a lot of joy when someone says that they enjoyed one of my videos. It means the world to me. Thanks!
I _love_ that she covered this. I remember being quite surprised when it started the first time I watched the Nidarosdomen concert in full. I'm American, but I lived in France with my family for several years as a kid. And I remember every Christmas...The Snowman would play on TV all the time. And I fell in love with it...and especially the song. It's beautiful. And her rendition is too. She's so the perfect person to cover this song....
@@ModernLifeForThe70sMind It wasn't big in America. None of my American friends have ever heard of it. Seems like it was just a European thing. It wasn't a show....just a short hand-drawn animated film. It's quite lovely actually....watching it now at 39, makes me feel like a kid again. Very nostalgic. Even if you didn't grow up with it, it's worth checking out next Christmas. It's short....but just gorgeous. And the song is amazing.
You cannot leave Aurora unattended, you need to give her her rightful time She's coming to my city, this month, I'm wired up yo , can't wait. Good to have you back, but specially if you bring Aurora along
It was from a 1982 British Christmas animated tv program that remains a perennial favorite in the UK and Europe. It became a UK hit for a 14 year old Welsh choir singer named Aled Jones in the mid-80's. Aurora's version is wonderful!
It is the definitive version, especially where it comes in the story. As nice as this is, the original in context is sooooòoo (sorry for that) much better
Hey Bob, as others have mentioned , this is a cover of a Howard Blake song. Aurora does a great job, with enough of her own touches to know it's her. Guess who else has covered this song. ..... Nightwish ,with original lead singer ,Tarja Turunen. If you want to check that out, try the live version at the 'From Wishes to Eternity' show in 2000.
It’s from the movie The Snowman. I thought this song sounded familiar so I just searched the title track plus movie here on youtube and it was easy to find 😊
A great reaction as always 😊 I’m sure you are aware of the great Leonard Cohen, for your next Aurora reaction I beg you to check out her cover of “ Famous Blue Rain Coat” it has to be one of her most underrated but classic interpretation of this song. Anyway I enjoy the reactions 👍
I've loved this since the first time I heard it. It is so relaxing and makes me feel so peaceful, calming, and just plain beautiful. The song is from an animated movie called The Snowman based on Raymond Brigg's 1978 children's book. It's about a young boy and a snowman who has come to life and their adventures. This song was written by Howard Blake and is the theme for the boy an snowman's flight to the Northpole. Isn't Google wonderful? 😊
LOL. I know, I know...you're always telling me to check Google. ;) I normally don't over-research the videos. It's too easy to learn more than I want to before actually hearing it.... so THERE...I have an excuse! LOL
@@ModernLifeForThe70sMind Well, if you're going to get sassy, I'll bring out the older sister in me. 'You're Not the Boss of Me! Dad, He's bein' mean to me!' LOL Have a good one, Bobby. (There, did that make you spew coffee all over?) 😄
Nice to see you back with Aurora, Bob! Great reaction. And I like your screen captions as well, can't remember having seen those before? But listen now, my friend. I was looking through all of your reactions to her, and I realized that you haven't reacted to the two performances that are on the top of my list, and they just happen to be from this very concert at NIDAROSDOMEN 🤣😂😁 There is absolutely NO way that you are not going to react to these two, you will understand why, I promise. Here we go: My very favorite is her performance of her song "Through The Eyes Of A Child" : ruclips.net/video/ncG9zTzsisE/видео.html And on close second is her performance of her song "Lucky", which she wrote at age NINE : ruclips.net/video/AmTiqR2_VAw/видео.html Take care, Bob! Much love from Norway ♥♥♥♥♥
It took a while, but you HAD to know that I would eventually get there. My list of recommendations is literally volumes! Ha I'll be reacting to more videos from that concert.
Yea her music, singing and even a covers (like this one - it is from animated movie from 1982 called The Snowman) are just amazing. And I agree her voice has something characteristic for her and has something beautiful in it and you just want to listen to her voice. She is storyteller and also incredible in transmitting emotions and she just lives music. Very cool reaction :).
I saw a video (you too?) of her losing pitch at a concert and the entertaining way she handled it. It shows us that she is a fellow human being and not just a mathematically perfect robot programmed to sing effortlessly. It makes me appreciate her even more knowing she has to fight for perfection and is capable of sometimes(albeit infrequently)getting it wrong.
I don't think I saw this. If I did, I completely missed it. Ha. There are so many of her videos that I haven't seen yet. I'm sure I"ll eventually come across it.
I have stars (and sometimes tears) in the eyes when I listen to Aurora. You are speaking about old-time historical type song... I suggest you to check (if not already done) "Wardruna and Aurora - Helvegen (Live)" will put the link below.
Surprised to see you hadn't done this one yet, but hey, that was a nice surprise in my recommendations! This entire concert is one of the best things I've ever seen. Absolute magic from start to finish. The song is from The Snowman, which I'm not sure if I've seen (it would have been ages ago). Incidentally, I know you're also a Nightwish fan, and they covered it too during the Tarja era. It's on their Oceanborn album, and they've also performed it live. I love Nightwish too, but nothing will ever beat this Aurora version for me. Thanks and take care! 🤟
Aurora has a great performence of this. And I love love her. But her fellow Bergenser (from the same city), Kurt Nilsen, is by far my favourite singer of this tune. You should check him out
Great reaction Bob! You are doing quite good with the Nidarosdomen pronounciation >Nida ross dome n. You don't really need to stop for copyright reasons during the songs from Nidarosdomen concert or from the Haik consert, both shot by NRK, which did a phenomenal job with the sound here, ah, great visually too. And yes, all songs from this concert are just so well sung, played and shot. She has some VERY skilled and professional musicians playing here, plus her band, and a good male choir as well.
If you want to hear how a Norwegian guy says "Nidarosdomen", here is from a radio show from just before this concert, where they also interview Aurora. The guy says "Nidarosdomen" at 7s-8s and again at 7m3s-7m4s: youtu . be / SEOTNb4Jq6I If you want to read the interview press CC for English Subs.
I must be dumb or something because I can't figure out these links. I'll search for it though. Thanks...and thank you so much for checking out the video. I really appreciate it!
Very nice 😊. She loves Norwegian folk Music, and there's a few Tic Toc clips of her singing folk music and lullabies. Not surprising sounds quite nice. I don't think you've reacted to "Churchyard" Live on KEXP or "I Went Too Far" Live on the Honda Stage. Both great performances from two of her best concerts available on RUclips. She's great with an orchestra, but I really enjoy her smaller stripped or acoustic shows. Live from COP26 is highly recommended, with lovely versions of "Infections Of a Different Kind", "The River", "Warrior" and "The Seed". The PNC Live Studio Session is another, with a great version of "Dangerous Thing".
Just a curiosity. I don't know if you've heard the song from the main theme of Frozen II. There's a voice calling Elsa through vocalizing. An ancient Norse spirit. That's Aurora singing.

Maybe you can checkout Chloe Agnew's (former member of Celtic Woman) performed this song. You might also want to give Celtic Woman (You Raise Me Up & O America) most of the singers are Irish a listen. Aurora's performance was very haunting and beautiful; without question she is very expressive in her delivery. BTW, I'm a big fan of AJ and Morissette too!
Hi Ron. I looked it up and found it. I've added it to the list. Now that I know the song, I'm kinda interested in what other singers take on it sounds like. Thanks!
This concert is a masterpiece. There are better performances from this beautiful concert, hard to believe but true. Every song adjusted to the acoustics and the availability of the array of backing musicians. Typical Aurora, she sings in the moment. I think that the accuracy in her pronunciation has to do with Norwegian being her Mother tongue. Every letter is important and the lazyness of spoken English is a huge contrast.
In English, it's Nidaros Cathedral 👍 But you doing good. Just pronounce names as you would in English. That's fine for us Norwegian, but anyway, it's nice of you to try ❤️ Some of her song techniques is a kind of Norwegian trad, but very different in same time. She mix in some scales from Norwegian traditional, or folk music as well, but I'm not sure if it's intentional. I think she just does her art. Because she blends in both modern and traditional techniques and especially scales from all over the world in her music.
Nidarosdomen just mean The Dome of Nidaros Nid-ah-ros. Which in turn mean the the mouth of the river Nid. She does utilize the old Scandinavian herd-calling ruclips.net/video/KvtT3UyhibQ/видео.html
