    Great lesson. It reminds me of what a Babalawo once told me, "You can get whatever you want from any of the Orishas, but the price you pay will be different." Yemoja will have more patients with you than Sango. Eshu may give you what you want after you have played 21 questions. Ogun might demand you work the forge first. Obatala may require you sit with him in meditation for 8 days. Or like you point out, you may be asking Oya for something that Oshun is better suited for. Adupwe

    Baba, last night was a full moon, I performed a laurel leaf burning. As the leaves burned, my thoughts were: I wonder if this is compatible with Ifa? I'm in the kitchen, right now, preparing a blend with abre camino and saying Psalms for road opening. It is my intention to use the blend (potion) for bathing. Again, I was wondering if this is compatible with Ifa. I am a novice to Ifa; but, versed in the ways of voodoo. I'm so torn about giving up what is familiar to me. Do I have to walk away from my familiar rituals immediately or do I continue until I make a full commitment to Orisa studies?

      @ObafemiO  5 лет назад +6

      beautiful!!! i enjoyed the full moon myself. i think that what you described is completely compatible with ifa. you do not have to give up what you know in order to practice orisa lifestyle... unless ifa says it's damaging you somehow. then, it's wise to fo what will prolong your life.

    Baba, what has happened in the new world and continues to happen is for one reason, price. Initiation fee and travel is very expensive, so as result, these hybrids have formed to fill in but not replace the actual path. Everyone would love to follow the pure path and get sure results, but few can afford it. Babalawo and Iyanifa are the surest way and the highest fees. So mixtures with hoodoo (which is nothing new), lukumi , haitian vodun and palo which mix with spiritism are the result of unaffordability. The cuban route is not pure and expensive as hell. So this needs to be addressed among the priesthood.

      You’re right. But I think the greater problem is that people over prescribe divination, shrines and initiations. Half of our problems stem from the lack of critical thinking, personal discipline and vision. Once we get clear about all the things we can do BEFORE we approach orisa, it will get better.

    Before I committed myself to the study and lifestyle of IFA I use burn ancestors money or burn money. Oh that was completely offensive to Aja who is one of my Orishas who walks with me and I KNOW it. I couldn’t burn money anymore nor disregard a penny every penny I see I pick it up. And started collecting coins. Although it’s common in Chinese tradition to burn ancestral money its completely offensive to Aje. And when I tell people that I don’t burn money because they do and it seems to work for them. I am faithful to Aje to respect her I’m not burning money...

      precisely... we must learn the logic of our own system

      Baba will you be doing a video on intermingling spiritual rituals and practice from different spiritual cultures.

    • @ObafemiO
      @ObafemiO  5 лет назад +3

      no, i would not speak on it because i don't do it and don't recommend it

    • @queenmosessoul
      @queenmosessoul 5 лет назад +1

      ObafemiO oh no baba please excuse me for not being clear. I do apologize I wasn’t saying to speak on how to intermingled because you CANNOT. I was asking for you to speak on the topic altogether. Closely related to your masculine and feminine video and how you explained the differences spiritual philosophies not applying to Orishas. For instance money rituals like throwing out 13 pennies to Esu for him to open the way for one to receive money. Just an example and its more to the ritual, however, throwing away pennies is offensive to Aje. So where one is thinking they are offering to Esu by throwing away pennies is actually offending Aje. I do hope you understand better now.

      ok, ok... got it! that is a good topic... similar to what i am talking about in this video. i will think about it and if there is more i can add to the conversation, i will gladly do so

    Just seem like you hating on Hoodoo… if Hoodoo was borned in the Atlantic slave trade then how couldn’t they practice Hoodoo and still connect with Yoruba

    • @ObafemiO
      @ObafemiO  2 года назад +1

      Perhaps you have misunderstood the message. Where did I say that hoodoo practitioners are prohibited from practicing orisa? Please, listen again for clarification.
