just a helpful tip, turn your phone side ways, vertical videos ahould be avoided at almost all costs. you can get an inexpensive cell phone tripod so that you can film horizontal videos.
Hello, I absolutely love your spindles on etsy! I was wondering if these spiral/notched spindles would work equally well for wool. I have never spun flax before and I don't even know where to get it! However, I have about a pound of wool that needs spinning! Would the wool spin alright on a spindle like this? It would certainly be nice to have a spindle that could spin both wool and maybe someday. flax.
+Blacklilly22 sure you can spin whatever you like on them. for example, i'm currently working though some cotton for hand towels and the spiral catches them nicely. i just wouldn't try to spin anything really bulky with it. all spindles i make are tested with wool first, as it's the most common fiber spun.
The spinning is happening as the spindle turns. She is drafting the fibres with her right hand, and moistening them as she does so. Her left hand is twirling the spindle, so that the spinning takes place along the length between the spindle and her drafting hand.
I can see why you'd be confused, since at 3:38 she says "add a little spin," and her left hand is not moving while her right hand is. Then she says "roll it a little with your fingers," referring to her right hand holding the flax. Later you can see her flicking the spindle to spin it.

Does the wet flax damage the spindle?
