As soon as I go underwater in the sea or the swimming pool (one or two metres deep) and sometimes even immersing my head in my bath, I get a very very very powerful feeling of nostalgia/melancholy that comes over me, and if I'm in the pool/sea, this feeling draws me towards the bottom (as if the bottom were hospitable, and not the surface).
Every time I manage to tear myself away from this feeling, but it still scares me.
    Is it related to that?

Probably not. Nitrogen Narcosis requires higher pressure, way beyond that of putting your head underwater or even diving in the deep end of a pool.

I think I’ve experienced this before. In my case I felt numbness/tingling on my finger tips and lightheadedness. Hasn’t happened again though but haven’t been diving too deep recently either

Can be. What depth were you diving when these symptoms happened?

    hi Sergey, one question
shall i hold the equalization for about 3 sec while descending before pressure happened.

Normally, no, it should happen quickly. If you need to press that long, might be you have some inflammation (check with a doctor) or just need to improve your equalization technique (check my video for it)

Hi Sergey, good video. Keep your eye out for research that is still making its way into the wider community, but heads up, it turns out O2 is in fact not narcotic.
Going back into the 70s/90s/90s it was assumed not to be, but in the 2000s the theory that it was, gained popularity in tech diving circles and you are quite right the term 'nitrogen narcosis' was replaced with 'gas narcosis' to include the believed effects of oxygen contribution. However this was not based on empirical measurement and was largely assumed because of where oxygen plots onto the Meyer-Overton scale of lipid solubility and narcotic effect. (However there are other outliers on this curve, that do not correlate). The other unique difference with O2 is that unlike all other gases (inert) obviously nitrogen but also helium, we do not metabolise them. The argument FOR oxygen narcosis ran "Yeah but just because we metabolise it and its partial pressure drops on the venous side (the oxygen window) doesnt mean it's not narcotic. This whole question was laid to rest last year in a paper presented by Xavier Vrijdag from the University of Auckland. Xavier works with acclaimed hyperbaric guru Dr. Simon Mitchel. This was Xavier's talk at the conference oztek.com.au/Xavier-Vrijdag. You can watch the presentation here vimeo.com/ondemand/oztekall/761805804

It's hard to say. Probably around 100 meters (for freedivers)

Ive heard of divers getting it at 50m. Definitely around 80m and beyond.
