Yeah, I dont like the vibe though. Make it look like another "John Wick" kind of movie where Man on Fire was much deeper. Maybe its the trailer though, we;ll see.
@happzyI feel like when D.W did the movie it's more later in the career of the character he was portraying. Maybe this is like a time before all of that went down
@AmanojakuXyes, but the Denzel version is significantly better than the original. Many movies are taken from books, that's where the good stories are.
For anyone confused, this is not a remake of the Denzel Washington movie, it's a TV show adaptation of the books that the film was based on. It's specifically based on the first book in the series and it's sequel, so this show will have a different ending from the movie. Edit: No, Denzel's version is not a remake, it is the second adaptation of the first book. The 1987 movie was not well-received and was never the inspiration for the 2004 film.
@douglaskelley4486 who says they wouldn't? They wanted their version of John Creasy to be closer to Denzel's version. That doesn’t mean it's not an original interpretation.
@douglaskelley4486 You really don't understand how logic works do you? One might come to the conclusion that it is actual a remake of Disney's The Little Mermaid for the exact same reason.
@jasonhouck5641 Nah, I've only seen half of the first episode. I heard he was a great character in Watchmen, but I totally forgot. Thanks, that's at the top of my list now.
i am aware. i was just alluding to the scene where he (simon not yahya) met with his agency regarding the next steps of his career after getting cast as wonderman by von kovak.
Callback to the 2004 film. Along with the voice on the phone. A little Toooo on the nose if you ask me. I like my callbacks subtle. Like a wink to the fans. Not a blatantly obvious "Member this?!"
@FlyingSpaghettiMonsterZealotUsa I feel that way also, casting directors need to get busy with more actors. He did well in wonder man but his action doesn’t sell me.
I can see from the comments A LOT of people don’t know that the Denzel film was a remake itself or that Man on Fire is apart of an entire book series. I just found out that Man on Fire was book one there are 5 books. I think Denzel at the time didn’t believe in sequels neither did Scott Glenn but hopefully this iteration since it is a series will adapt all the books if successful.
@doublep1980 My guy, I guarantee you that I have seen more action films than most people can name. Did you know that the original Man on Fire film came out in 1987? I saw that version many years before the Denzel's version got made. 🤨
The doublep1980 guy said this looks like a Temu version of Extraction and I completely disagree. I couldn't even finish that poorly made movie. This looks good in my opinion. I might be biased though because I loved the Denzel movie so damn much.
There are two Man on Fire Movies. One from the 70s/80s and one from early 2000s. Both are brilliant! Hoping this series will be top class too. Strongly recommend watching the first movie to see a different Creasy
@BeDangerousGroupThe book or the first movie version? The Scott Glen movie was set in Italy and it was directed by a French director and joe pesci was one of the co-stars. Another little fact that very few people don't know is the author was English and he died in 2005.
The version with Denzel is absolutely cinematic, but hopefully this new version in Brazil will be just as good, although if they could make a sequel, that would be even cooler.
The movie is one of my all time favorites. Denzel was amazing. To watch his character grow from just lost and given up on life to happiness and love for Pita. Then his turn to rage and an unstoppable force when they took the only person who ever meant anything to him. I hope the show is just as good.
Yahya is low key goated. Man has taken on some iconic roles and either improved upon it or made them his own. Dr. Manhattan. Morpheus. Candy Man. He is truly fearless.
If they ever do make a Spawn movie, this guy should be cast as Al Simmons AKA Spawn. I’ve been saying this for a while now but every time I see him the thought resurfaces. Somebody send this to Todd McFarlane!
"A man can an artist in anything, food, whatever. It all depends on how good he is at it. Creasy's art is death. He's about to paint his masterpiece." Rayburn.
@1995abv and who said so? And who said it needs to be better? And who said it can't be because it would be hindered to your nostalgia..if the 2004 version can exist along side the 1987 original then why not prequel series?
@1995abv Nostradamus, we don't know for sure..stop the gatekeeping and the nostalgia tripping. It doesn't have to be as good as the previous, it just needs to be good enough and enjoyable..again, this is a series so they aren't in the same playing field and if there was one in 87 then one in 04 then they have a right to make another..stop making assumptions and gatekeeping based on your nostalgia and ego. Grow up
"I wish...you had more time." 💥 Denzel and the butt bomb. Seriously I LOVE the 2006 version. Soundtrack. Cinematography. He'll even Marc Anthony did well!
Man on fire is one of my favourite films so I’m glad it’s being made as a series and not a remake movie! That’s a masterpiece that can’t ever be remastered!! And don’t ever attempt it either
I was down on this at first, but after realizing that this would be a series and a more faithful adaptation to the book, I'm definitely gonna watch. I just LOVE that movie So Much!!! Top 2 for me.
Denzel is Denzel, and his chemistry with Dakota made their bond so believable and endearing, but this should be fun too. Yahya's a cool guy, so I'm on board
Glad it's a series and not a movie remake, that's a movie that doesn't need a remake.
Even though it’s based on a novel. There is a 1987 release starring Scott Glenn and Joe Pesci
Yeah, I dont like the vibe though. Make it look like another "John Wick" kind of movie where Man on Fire was much deeper. Maybe its the trailer though, we;ll see.
@happzyI feel like when D.W did the movie it's more later in the career of the character he was portraying. Maybe this is like a time before all of that went down
@rcYT2026 I didn't know that, now I'm going to have to watch that version.
@happzy Yeah it does have a John Wick/The Equalizer feel. The Denzel version was defintely not that.
Wonderman doing side quests now
I'm here for it 😂
The term side quests has antisemitic connotations. Do not use!
@Squadron_Bodroncall the cops 🙄🙄
Wait you go around randomly commenting about the Anti Semetic term on random series😂get a life douche bag.
Hahaha 😂 I literally just said this
Man on Fire the movie was an excellent film.
They are going to trash this story line.
Or the movie was excellent
No need to repeat the sentence with film. You're describing it twice??
One of the Most Prevailing Stories Ever Told by Fr Dan Reehil.
Chilli_Tea BS 🙄🙄
@ZuluHotel1977 No need to assume you have authority to police people on a message board. This isn't a writing class. Relax.
He's about to paint his masterpiece....AGAIN
No hes not it's not Denzel
You sure about that? 😂
This doesn't even have a Christopher Walken vibe
@SteelBattalion07 Christopher walkens isnt even close to denzel Washington and this has a more Denzel feel to it.
“Forgiveness is between them and GOD, my job is to arrange the meeting “
Just not the same without Nine Inch Nails playing.
Thank God it’s a series cause that movie does not need to be remade at all.
The Denzel movie was a remake of a Scott Glenn one from the '80s. And that was adapted from a novel.
@AmanojakuXyes, but the Denzel version is significantly better than the original. Many movies are taken from books, that's where the good stories are.
@cuzndupre2822 Agreed. My point was just that we shouldn't be too precious about remakes when the high bar was itself a remake.
Facts
Word!
Only the OG's will know Denzels Man on Fire was also a remake.
And the people who actually do the research know it’s based on a book…but anyway.
@way@waynewalters7896 Just like most films are based on books
Scott Glenn starred in the first movie version....
And that one remade as Bollywood film! Ek Ajnabee with Amitabh Bachchan no less :)
@waynewalters7896 can you tell us what grain of paper was used in the book?
For anyone confused, this is not a remake of the Denzel Washington movie, it's a TV show adaptation of the books that the film was based on. It's specifically based on the first book in the series and it's sequel, so this show will have a different ending from the movie.
Edit: No, Denzel's version is not a remake, it is the second adaptation of the first book. The 1987 movie was not well-received and was never the inspiration for the 2004 film.
If that were true, they wouldn’t have race swapped the main character.
Right the book was a little more hard-core than the movie. I believe in the book the little girl actually died.
I was wondering about that, loved Denzel movie version.. and i like this Actor who's doing this series. Thanks 👍🏽
Man i hope they do this justice. This was one of my favorite movies
Simon Williams getting the gigs he deserves
Very happy for him, it's about time too. 👍🏽
Hopefully with all this work Simon replaced that island in his momma's kitchen.
😂😂😂
After Wonder man, I'm showing up to see everything Yahya Adbul-Mateen is in.
You didn't get that vibe after Watchmen??
Glad your on board Yahya is a phenomenal actor!
@jasonhouck5641 Nah, I've only seen half of the first episode. I heard he was a great character in Watchmen, but I totally forgot. Thanks, that's at the top of my list now.
@jaymac7349 Damn right!
@jaymac7349mid
I like Yahya! Great actor! Glad to see him in many projects!
I swear I share the exact same sentiment. So happy for him.
Big fan of his!! Glad he’s doing big big things! 🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽
He really is not honestly
@tonycruz5643thanks for your honesty lol
@oldskoolpunk3958you are very welcome
Good to see Simon Williams actually considered that Netflix deal.
This is gonna be fire 🔥 . Can't wait
This actor really is on fire.
ass kissing simp!
Wonder Man on Fire 🔥
🤭🤭
This is the best comment.
Simon Williams landing another role
🇧🇷
All I needed to see was Yahya, I’ll be watching.
The music and those eyes are putting in some work.
The thumbnail looks like Michael Jai White wearing glasses.
Wonder man is on fire and am here for it😂😂😂
Yahya was great as Wonder Man so I'm on board for anything the dude is doing next.
Drugs are bad
No he wasn't great as wonder man hes better as black manta
so simon went for the netflix gig after his major success as wonderman
I mean, Wonderman has been done for 2 years and this has been in the making before Wonderman aired
Define “success”?
i am aware. i was just alluding to the scene where he (simon not yahya) met with his agency regarding the next steps of his career after getting cast as wonderman by von kovak.
major success that didn't even chart?
@drewnes64they could easily reference Man on Fire as Simon first series success
Hopefully this is as good as it looks. Great casting for the lead
If you read the book, then you know that Scott Glenn nailed the character of Creasy in the original 1987 version.
0:17 Tim Robinson
First thing I thought of 😂
You sure about that?!?
@Jiveturkeysryou sure about that that's why?
I'm a simple man i see Yahya is in something i click. He was incredible in Watchmen. Very underrated show IMO
Dr. Manhattan is tripping
Damn Denzel found the fountain of youth...
The Denzel movie was underrated. Hope this lives up to it.
This dude is literally on fire right now 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Man on fire is one of my all time favorite movies, so I was sceptical when I saw the name! But I’m not anymore!! Yahya is perfect for this
Yahya
The Year of Yahya 🔥
0:36 that creasy scream bruh
Callback to the 2004 film. Along with the voice on the phone. A little Toooo on the nose if you ask me. I like my callbacks subtle. Like a wink to the fans. Not a blatantly obvious "Member this?!"
Greaazzzzy scary scream 😅
Yahya is Wonder Man AND Man on Fire?? His agent is doing an amazing job of keeping him booked and busy.
Simon finally has a Mandarin type role now! Congrats to him!
He really should have a higher profile than he does. Always been a great screen presence and he was brilliant in Wonder Man.
These days Yahya Abdul-Mateen II is literally on fire with awesome projects. Looking forward to this.
Literally on fire?
He's the new Pedro Pascal
@FlyingSpaghettiMonsterZealotUsa I feel that way also, casting directors need to get busy with more actors. He did well in wonder man but his action doesn’t sell me.
Yahya is going crazy this year
Second season of Wonder Man
Trevor: Simon let me be the first to congratulate you on your first successful series Man On Fire bloody wonderful
I love how they turned Creasy into John Wick! Looking forward to binging this one on the weekend. 😆
@doublep1980 My guy, I guarantee you that I have seen more action films than most people can name. Did you know that the original Man on Fire film came out in 1987? I saw that version many years before the Denzel's version got made. 🤨
Extraction sucked by the way! The Denzel Man on Fire was literally 🔥
@MMMPIZZA76 Why did you bring Extraction into this conversation? I've never mentioned anything about that movie.
The doublep1980 guy said this looks like a Temu version of Extraction and I completely disagree. I couldn't even finish that poorly made movie. This looks good in my opinion. I might be biased though because I loved the Denzel movie so damn much.
@MMMPIZZA76 Oh okay, I thought you were replying to my original comment.
Yesss my goat wonderman is getting his name up there 🔥
There's only one Man On Fire, ain't this one
This looks like it might be worthy of having that title. The movie was flawless and I hope the series can come close.
There are two Man on Fire Movies. One from the 70s/80s and one from early 2000s. Both are brilliant! Hoping this series will be top class too. Strongly recommend watching the first movie to see a different Creasy
The scott glen version came out in 1987
@angelaholmes8888thanks
Damn dude I didn't know that
False
There's a 1980 book that it's all based on by AJ Quinnell.
Netflix is pulling out all the stops! Let's freaking go!!!!!
What by remaking shi 😂😂
@MikeBlack-s2r I watched the original in theaters. I wanted more. Yahya Abdul-Mateen II will make Denzel Washington proud.
@velvetsky5117ight like denzel give a shi😂😂
@velvetsky5117like denzel give a shi😂😂
The first time man on fire was filmed as a TV movie was in 1987 starring Scott Glen. Then in 2004, with Denzel Washington and now the Netflix series
Yer netfilx are bored and need to just keep repeating the same old
@BeDangerousGroupI know. I have the book at home.
@oluapampa5075Is it much different than the film? I know it's set in Italy...
@BeDangerousGroupThe book or the first movie version? The Scott Glen movie was set in Italy and it was directed by a French director and joe pesci was one of the co-stars. Another little fact that very few people don't know is the author was English and he died in 2005.
Yahya cannot claim the name Man on Fire.
They truly have Ran out of Ideas.
So... This is a prequel of how he became Chrissy Bear?
looks like a bit of both. the 2000s story mixed with flashback maybe?
@button9maybe
Genesis of Creasy bear was in the film.
Now that's a nice surprise release.
This looks awesome !!!
Most people dont know the original didn't have Denzel Washington in it, Scott Glenn played creasy.
The version with Denzel is absolutely cinematic, but hopefully this new version in Brazil will be just as good, although if they could make a sequel, that would be even cooler.
@Pacotaku368you really can't say "new version" because this is a series and not a movie. Can't do a sequel with a series anyway either.
The guy retired from war just to unlock New Game+… xdd
You watch Sally by any chance ???? xdd
Im definitely watching this
i'm definitely not
@streetdhd_v4😂sir, I dont give a f**k
@novascotia2188you can even choke on this if you like jeet
He was awesome in Wonder Man. it looks great. I'm definitely going to be watching.
The movie is one of my all time favorites. Denzel was amazing. To watch his character grow from just lost and given up on life to happiness and love for Pita. Then his turn to rage and an unstoppable force when they took the only person who ever meant anything to him. I hope the show is just as good.
I got all the time in the world....You don't, but I do........ - John Creasy
Netflix We are waiting for this ❤❤
Thanks @Netlix for using our Song "You Ain't Built Like Me" ! Can't wait to watch the show 🙏
Underrated song man I can't expected it will be used here...
🫵🫡
Great music!
One teaser and I’m already hooked.
Seriously...
Yahya is low key goated. Man has taken on some iconic roles and either improved upon it or made them his own. Dr. Manhattan. Morpheus. Candy Man. He is truly fearless.
I hope this is good, my man got some big ass shoes to fill.
If they ever do make a Spawn movie, this guy should be cast as Al Simmons AKA Spawn. I’ve been saying this for a while now but every time I see him the thought resurfaces.
Somebody send this to Todd McFarlane!
He could be spawn , steel, black panther, who knows
What's the name of the song????
It's "You Ain't Built Like Me" by Joznez, DITONE and Kataem
Not to be confused of the 2004 movie starring Denzel Washington.
Yeah I was thinking is this a remake.
I was thinking that
Same source material, I believe. Also there was a cool movie with Scott Glenn based on the same novel.
Thought it was remake
Or the 1987 Scott Glenn version which was also excellent (for its time)
"A man can an artist in anything, food, whatever. It all depends on how good he is at it. Creasy's art is death. He's about to paint his masterpiece."
Rayburn.
My favorite movie is now a tv series , WOW , I am excited and thankful for Netflix in what they produced , Awesome , Yeah 🙏
So glade this Actor is finally getting a lot of shine lately.. i will support this series fosho. 👍🏽
After Wonder Man, I'm very excited to see more Yahya!
Check out Michael Bay’s Ambulance with him and Jake Gyllenhaal
Please note it's a series not a remake of the movie. Also, it's based on two of the books related to Creasy, not just Man on Fire.
Yes but even the 2004 movie is not the book. Man on Fire takes place in Italy and he lives.
@ericconley5499 Exactly. Hence the "based on" part.
I love the art direction they going with reminds me of the 2000s but more vibrant
Thought it was a remake, and was like; please don’t do this, but a series? Hell yeah
Lot of folks never saw the original movie. Denzel’s was very good and this looks interesting. 1:12
Which original? 1987 original or the "original" with Denzel?
@Kail0RGr3ythe original from ‘87. Good movie.
True
That wasn't even the original movie smh. This is a remake of a remake that's probably going to be remade again
Why?
Because and why not
@isimioyekunlemarktaiwo3643 because you cant do it better
@1995abv and who said so? And who said it needs to be better? And who said it can't be because it would be hindered to your nostalgia..if the 2004 version can exist along side the 1987 original then why not prequel series?
@isimioyekunlemarktaiwo3643 because this shit is gonna suck bro denzel did it and buried it
@1995abv Nostradamus, we don't know for sure..stop the gatekeeping and the nostalgia tripping. It doesn't have to be as good as the previous, it just needs to be good enough and enjoyable..again, this is a series so they aren't in the same playing field and if there was one in 87 then one in 04 then they have a right to make another..stop making assumptions and gatekeeping based on your nostalgia and ego. Grow up
If there ever was a person that could match Denzel...it's this guy!!
Definitely adding to my over the Summer shows to watch, after NBA finals and survive till Football season starts.
"I wish...you had more time." 💥 Denzel and the butt bomb.
Seriously I LOVE the 2006 version. Soundtrack. Cinematography. He'll even Marc Anthony did well!
We have come full circle. Man on Fire inspired Max Payne 3 in so many ways (set in Brazil) now the TV show is heading there
Watchmen, Black Mirror, Aquaman, and Wonderman. Hopefully, this series brings Yahya into the mainstream light and gets this man more movies and shows.
Thank god they aren’t re making it as a film. Untouchable.
Crissy!!!!
You people know us very well
That shout
I've never commented on a RUclips video before but this is the best thing and there's no way you can mess this up. So don't mess it up
Denzel Washington is GOAT❤
Denzel's version lives on my rotation til this day. Hoping Yahya can bring something new with this
You have to love the originality that these streaming services have provided us through the years!
One of my favorite movies....glad they didn't try a sequel, but I'll take this!
I put my account on hold and netflix starts releasing bangers! 😮
Yahya Abdul-Mateen has been quietly putting out some good work.
Denzel is Denzel, and his chemistry with Dakota made their bond so believable and endearing, but this should be fun too. Yahya's a cool guy, so I'm on board
It will never out shine Man on Fire. Filmed in the City of Mexico
Especially without Denzel and Marc Anthony
Very confident actor to try and fill Denzel's shoes. I wish him luck, and I will be watching this.
I’m in!!!
Rewatched Man on Fire the other week... it doesnt need a remake. Glad this is a show. You can't outdo Denzel.
Yes YAHYA! I’m here for it, let’s go!!!
0:48 , is that the big fish? That's definitely ippi. So this is what marks been up to.
Absolutely 💯%...YES !!
If they do this right, with him, and her, this could be STUNNING!
