  • Christmas markets are the hallmark of German cities' holiday season. Because of the pandemic, the last Christmas market held in Augsburg was in 2019, which increased the expectation and pent-up demand of the population for such an event.
In standard German (Hochdeutsch) they are called Weihnachtsmarkt, however, there are regional variants such as Striezelmarkt (Dresden), Christkindlmarkt (Bavaria and Austria), and Christkindlesmarkt (Schwaben and Franken).
Several stalls sell Christmas decorations, winter clothes, and typical food for this time of the year, like gingerbread hearts and mulled wine.

Thank you for commenting and taking up close shots of some booths so we can see what they are selling! Good job!

It was very crowded that day and the GoPro Hero 8 is not the most suitable camera for night shortages, but we made the best that we could! We're very glad you liked it anyway! Thanks a lot :)

@@ScottiveNatish Great! Were your parents working in any US military base nearby? The greatest audience of our Augsburg videos is US military personnel who used to live in the town.

@twinwalks Yes :-) My father was in the military. We lived nearby in Ulm. I can't wait to visit. I turned 50 this year and would love to see it...hopefully soon. Trying to convince my wife, children, and parents to tag along. Thinking about doing a tour of the Christmas markets next December :-)

@@ScottiveNatish If you need some tips about getting around in Bavaria, write us here, and we can give you some hints. If your focus is on Xmas Markets, right off the bat we recommend: Friedberg (next to Augsburg, not in Hessen), Kufstein (actually in Austria but directly at the German border), and Nürnberg.
