all three versions (original by Joan Armtrading, covers by Melissa Etheridge and Keisha White) are all great because the song is great...but having never HEARD it before tonight and listening to all three versions, I have to admit this is the one that gets the most reaction from me. The husky voice adds the extra oomph.
I don't think I've heard either of the other versions, but I can't imagine either making me feel what this version does. I love Melissa's voice, and it's so raw and emotional in this song. Gorgeous!
