    Great. Thank you. You are the only person I found discussing the lever at the back of the switch.

    This was an outstanding video. To the point. No BS. Great explanation. It’s exactly how the repair manual said to do it. But it helped having the visual. I then went and put one in my 02 in about 45 seconds. Fixed my brake lights staying on.

    Thanks for sharing this video I hope that this fixes the problem I've replaced the fuse, the bulbs and the left side circuit board the only light that comes on is the rear hazard light. So hopefully this will fix the problem.

    So that little lever adjusts the length of the plunger internally. Its holding a clamp open. When you turn it it closes the clamp around the plunger at the set height and releases the actual spring loaded actuator inside. It can be reset easy. Just don't let the spring fly out. Don't ask why I had to figure that out.

    • @Truthaholic1
      @Truthaholic1 2 года назад

      How do you reset it? Don’t ask why I’m asking this,,,,,🤭

    • @dmc8921
      @dmc8921 2 года назад

      I kind of forgot. But I think you can pop it open with a screw driver and the open that metal clamp and reset the lever again in it's original position easy. BUT Nothing is supporting that spring from flying out with small parts when the cover is off or something so don't let that happen because then it will be annoying to put back together.

      Would that part still be the problem if your brake lights don't actuate when you press them but do when you turn your headlights on?

  • @joshuaingalls5727

    Would that effect adding led taillights to flash when I hit the breaks
    Or my cargo lights to stay on with my high mount breaks

    Hi. I have a question for you. I have a 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 and when I turn on the truck the rear break lights come on and stay on. Do you have an ideal what might cause this? Thanks

    I was curious if the circuit for the rear lights were powered separately. Now I know exactly where to trace the passenger taillight issue too. Thanks!

    having the same problem. Both front and rear turn signal light didn’t work. I replaced the rear circuit board at auto zone like $20 with tax. The rear turn signal works but it hyper flashes now. Front still doesn’t work. But then I put in the ob scanner to see if I have any codes. And just said about my front right turn signal. I just cleared it and now they both work fine. After that my brake lights don’t work. They turn on but when I press the brake nothing happens. I’m very confused

    Ok so to make it clear , the left and right brake light not coming on is due to the front control module ? And quick info all my lights bulbs work just when I press the brakes lights don't illuminate

  • @CentralKyBees
    @CentralKyBees 8 месяцев назад

    Will this cause my ebrake light and abs to both be illuminated? My cruise works, my brake lights work and my speedo works okay. I've already replaced the sensor in the rear diff suggested by another member. Still no fix. Only thing I know to do is the driver side front wheel sensor, brake pedal sensor or the sensor that's in the transmission. It's driving me insane. 06 Ram 1500 4x4

  • @marcushall9998

    I have a 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 that I pulled the dash to repair a leaky AC evaporator behind the dash. I had to disconnect the stop light switch to pull the dash. After installing the new brake switch my ABS and Brake warning lights are on. They weren't on with the old switch, just now are on with the new switch. I followed the installation instructions provided by the manufacturer. My thoughts are a defective brake light switch. Is there something else I should be looking into? Thank You in advance.

    The title should read "The absurd complexity of modern auto engineering and how manufacturers ensure service department profit."
    I just replaced one of these things because the lights wouldn't turn off and it was blazing hot to the touch. Cracked open the old one to see what's inside. Whoever designed it should be chopping rocks in Siberia.

    This is great insight. Thanks. I’m having a slightly different issue it seems.
    My passenger side tail light does not illuminate when the lights are in the on position. When I apply the brake, the brake light does not illuminate.
    When the lights are in the off position, and I apply the brake, the brake light illuminates.
    I changed all the bulbs, I changed the light bulb harness, but to no avail. I’ll track down the fuse and try that next. Any insight would be hella helpful. Thanks!!

      check your ground wire and then check your circut board with a test light another way is to take the board from the other side and switch it to the side that doesn't work. if they work after you do that,you know it's a bad board.

  • @gterry180
    @gterry180 2 года назад +2

    This was helpful when I changed the brake booster I accidentally pulled the brake pedal back slightly and this must have over adjusted the switch causing the switch to not make contact with the brake pedal and thus the brake light would stay on. A temporary fix was to use electrical tape over some cardboard to build up the pedal a tiny bit.

    On my 2003 ram only the left brake light stopped working. I replaced the bulb with the correct bulb and it still doesn't work. I checked the fuse and it's not blown. My first thought was I have a broken wire on the left side. What would be your thoughts on this. Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

      I also have the same issue. Just noticed it the other day. Tail lights are on but when I step on the brake pedal they don't go any brighter. The "third" brake light(the one on the top back of the cab) works when I use the brake pedal. Just the left and right brake lights won't go bright. All the bulbs are in working order... I have not tried changing the brake pedal switch yet. If anyone has any info please respond
