Thank you Ruwini. You may be able to work as a teacher in England for up to 4 years without QTS. Therefore, first you need to get a job from a school which is not graded as inadequate by Ofsted. Once you get a teaching job, and worked there for a while, ask the school to support you in the "assessment only" (AO) route. There are 4 institutes in UK that support international cadidates according to the "Get into teaching" website. Check more details with those providers. Hi Damith, Even a childcare or early childhood diploma would be enough. Crucial thing is to win a job offer with a sponsorship. I know people who came to nurseries in UK with a sponsorship.
I have taught in UK for two years, but I did not like the job, I am a high school teacher in Australia. They do not consider PGDIPED or Dip Ed complpeted in Sri Lanka. Even your experience is considered only after you have completed QTS. so be careful. That is why I left UK.

Hi Kalpani thank you for the comment. You have two options. First is coming to UK as a Bachelor student for Education. But it might take 3+ years to complete. Since you already have the national diploma, your second option is completing your bachelor's in Sri Lanka and applying for a post graduate course in UK. In Sri Lanka you may be able to complete your B.Ed either from NIE or private institutes like "metropolitan college".

You’ll need to do "early years initial teacher training" (EYITT) to achieve "early years teacher status" (EYTS). EYTS is different from ‘qualified teacher status’ (QTS). I cannot conclude exact figures since everything from visa rules to visa fees changes very often. Please refer websites of course providers and government visa related pages to get exact figures. Usually this costs around £18,000 for course fee and visa process by 2023.

Because, you know work hours for teaching jobs may often conflict with your studies. But you may able to find other part time jobs. Hi Anu, You might need to take Academic for academic purposes. The IELTS benchmark will depend on the institute you choose. This will cost you a £12,000 or above as the tuition fee.

Hi Roshini, I'm glad that you like the content. 💖 Unfortunately, it is unlikely to get a teaching offer in the UK from Sri Lanka due to two reasons. The first one is employers might not tend to issue a sponsorship for a teaching job for someone not in the UK. The second one is you need to have the QTS qualification to get sponsored. There are zero chances for your visa to get rejected being your program is a PGDE. A PGDE is treated as same as a Master in the visa process. Because you won't get QTS by doing a Master's. I have no idea what you mean by GSE. If you mean Sri Lankan GCE O/Ls, yes it is quite different from anything in UK. When you make your application for teacher training, some teacher training providers will want to see a statement of comparability(opens in new window) from the UK ENIC. A statement of comparability proves that your school and university qualifications are the same standard as UK GCSEs and a UK undergraduate degree.

You can’t get student visa for PGCE. You might need to find the best matching pathway for QTS. I assume doing a PGDE would be the best choice. See the “Get into teaching” website for more pathways.

It would be the must have qualification to getting sponsored for a work visa as a teacher in UK. As I stated in this video, a PGDE would be a better choice over an M.Ed. if your primary goal is to get the QTS fast. This is more like any degree program conducted at any related education institutes. There would be one or more intakes each year, depending on the institute. Whole the process and the visa application would be same as a postgraduate student. You can take dependants and you'd be eligible for Graduate visa after studies as I mention in the video.
Hi Toy. Unfortunately, doing a PGDE in Sri Lanka wont give you QTS, the British qualification to teach. Try other routes for QTS if you dont wish to follow a PGDE in UK again.

Unfortunately, it is unlikely to get a teaching offer in the UK from Sri Lanka due to two reasons. The first one is employers might not tend to issue a sponsorship for a teaching job for someone not in the UK. The second one is you need to have the QTS qualification to get sponsored. As I explain in the video, this might be the easiest way to get into teaching in the UK. There are a few other routes as well. There are zero chances for your visa to get rejected being your program is a PGDE. A PGDE is treated as same as a Master in the visa process. Because you won't get QTS by doing a Master's. You have to go through a long way to get QTS if you come for a master's.

I have no idea what you mean by GSE. If you mean Sri Lankan GCE O/Ls, yes it is quite different from anything in UK.
When you make your application for teacher training, some teacher training providers will want to see a statement of comparability(opens in new window) from the UK ENIC.
A statement of comparability proves that your school and university qualifications are the same standard as UK GCSEs and a UK undergraduate degree.

Before getting admitted into any program, make sure that you have a clear pathway for QTS. It would be the must have qualification to getting sponsored for a work visa as a teacher in UK.
As I stated in this video, a PGDE would be a better choice over an M.Ed. if your primary goal is to get the QTS fast.

This is more like any degree program conducted at any related education institutes. There would be one or more intakes each year, depending on the institute. Whole the process and the visa application would be same as a postgraduate student. You can take dependants and you'd be eligible for Graduate visa after studies as I mention in the video.
