In fact these are mine. I never used the NP4V so far. I have the NP4a on Alder/Rosewood basses and the NP4 on Alder/Maple basses. Usually I really love a low mid heavy sound as I am playing with a pick and some drive. Ib these clips I prefer the NP4a which seems to have slightly less mids than the other 2 PUs. Recording wise I prefer the sound of my original 66P. So I think I will try the NP4V in my main P (Squier JV 83). Anyway, huge thanks Oliver Tobin for comparing these three, so I won't have to do the soldering and setup myself :)
Was thinking about doing just that! So far I'm thinking SPB3 vs NP4A, which I feel have more or less the same idea of sound. And NP4 vs GZR. I feel the Model P would overpower all of them.
I put the NP4a in my Spector, I swapped out the Aguilair. Fucking night and day, they sound big and it hits you right in the face. Im pairing it with a seymour duncan quarter pound jazz pick up
Nice job, I like them all, I could see having a base with the v and another with the A’s I gravitate to the higher output, but those vintage sounded good
All these demonstrations on youtube people do are pointless with no narration and verbal input, all the playing being recorded, put into video format, uploaded to youtube, and then played back on peoples computers, tvs... all sounds the same, you lose all the differences and cant tell anything. :( You'd have to use an oscilloscope in order to see any differences. Im sure it sounds way different in person and on isolated tracks.... once its on youtube all that is gone.

im so exited to watch this video. its like your getting new p bass pickups every second.
Very well produced. All aspects of the video are top notch. Keep up the good work bud
Thank you so much!
Would love to see one or all of the Nordstrands up against some old favorites like the SPB3, GZR, and Model P.
Great video as always!

@@OliverTobyn the Model P is a beast! I think it's my favorite of all the P pickups you've demoed so far. Keep up the great work!
@@DevilsFourString thank you so much! I'll try to make a few more in the next days!

Great video. Very helpful, thank you. This seals it for me that I want the "v" variety on my P-bass from which I hope to get a more "vintage" sound.

You sold me on the NP4As. Now I just need to save up and get 2 sets. Thanks!
Thanks for the great comparison!!!

Great job on getting 1000 subscribers too
i noticed the change of the banner and that there is no screws on the pickgaurd.
Thank you so much! It really made my day when it happened!
Get you a P/J set of EMG hz pickups
Where was the tone pot set?
Both 250k for volume and tone
@@OliverTobyn I mean on a 1-10 scale, how far did you turn the tone knob
@@rtclayton86 zero, everything is flat
Nice job on getting your comment in a patrick hunter video.
Haha totally didn't expect that. Maybe he'll notice my channel 😜
np4 i guess can do all
So you sell stuff or do you have a stock pile of pick ups 😀
Hahaha both. I keep the ones I really like. In this case the Nordstrand were lent to me to try out
conclusion, just go for the cheapest set

Oh, Really? Maybe you should go and get your ears checked. I can hear the difference quite fine through my Ipads small speakers.
