Pass the magic of this song by introducing it to your church choir. Can you imagine having 10 to 20 people singing this every Sunday morning? I remember in my youth, the entire church sang this every Sunday. It was an experience to remember for the entire week. 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Nooooo
I read that Minnie Pearl the queen of country comedy said that Hank Sr. sang this to her once and it was so beautiful it brought tears to her eyes. She asked him 'Why don't you sing like that to everyone?' and he told her that people only wanted to hear what they were used to. Can you imagine it better that this?
Minnie helped a drunken Hank get sober enough to perform on the Grand Ole Opry on more than one occasion.
Grew up hearing this song sung in church. My grandpa was a preacher, so he would sing songs with my grandma. Miss those days with my grandparents 🤗✌️🙏
This is one reason he's the greatest pioneer of county music. My grandfather and father loved this song, as do I. He may have had his demons but was a true believer. Since being born with spina bifida he was in constant pain that drove him to self-medicate with drugs and booze. He passed away at 29 while riding in the back of a car and is buried in Mongomery, AL. Check out "Midnight in Mongomery" by Alan Jackson.
I always heard he was in West Virginia when he passed away in the car.
@@jeffrichards1537It was in Alabama on New Year's Eve night.
@@firedoc5 He had left Montgomery and was on his way to Canton, OH to play a New Year's Day show. He died in the back seat of his Cadillac. Not 100% sure where they were at the time, most think it was West Virginia when he passed, but he was definitely not in Alabama.
@@feltonhall1830 Don't believe I've been told exactly where they were when he died either.
@@firedoc5 it's known pretty close...but it was definitely on the road and close to Ohio. But he was long gone from Alabama.
I met the man who was driving him and got his autograph on a replica Cadillac. It was pretty awesome and glad I didnt miss that.
We have sang this song since I was a child back in the early 70’s and still sing it today but we sing it faster. You gotta have a lotta lung capacity to sing this song quickly. I love the words to this song! Thank you God for Jesus!❤
He sings that hymn so beautifully
Should it was his
Gone way before his time but his kids are living his dream Hank Williams Jr is great
I'm so glad I ran across this. Probably been 50 years since I have heard Ol' Hank sing this. Thank you.
This song should be sung in every church in America.
It's is here on REZ.
I’m southern and didn’t even realize Hank Sr sang this, it’s just a standard church hymn for me. Knew every word
When Hank was getting started he would stop at local fairs and try to get a gig singing. Most venues knew who he was and knew he sang a lot of beer drinking and honkytonk songs and wouldn't allow him in because they wanted a family values atmosphere. So hank wrote this song so he could play the family venues. Little did he know that it would become one of the most recognizable hymns ever.
And when de sang My Bucket's Got a Hole in It, he would shout "MILK!" instead of singing the word beer. LOL
@@slucas60 Yes. He was told once by the Opry that he couldn't sing that song on their stage, because of the word "beer", That was the first time he subbed the word milk for beer. The high ups at the Opry weren't amused.
I looked ar a boxed service DVD's I have, over 120 songs from this wonderful performer and thank God someone like he was born. They say God loves a sinner and he lioved Hank who died at 29 years of age.
"Lone Gone Lonesome Blues" is one of my favorites by him. He does his unique and signature "moan," yodel, or whatever the technique is called. I think it's fun to sing, if you can imitate it.
He sings it live in an audio recording of one of his concert shows uploaded on RUclips.
Legendary Country Music Pioneer Hank Williams, Sr....Your Cheatin' Heart, Hey Good Lookin', Jambalaya, Move It On Over...the list goes on. 55 singles in the top 10 (5 posthumously), 12 #1 singles, died at only 29 years old...but, not before giving us Hank Williams, Jr., who is also a Country Music Legend with a different sound. Hank III sounds a lot like his grandfather. Personally, I think that's intentional and not just inherited.
Y'all gather 'round the tent, it's revival time! Love it!
Hank Williams Sr is a big icon ... My grandpa met him one time and they talked about the Bible and music that was back in 1949 my grandfather said
Great reaction to the greatest singer AND songwriter in history!!! He wrote this in 5 minutes
Didn't somebody give Hank the First the nickname "The Hillbilly Shakespeare"? My favorite is "I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry"; so much beautiful imagery in the lyrics. Such a loss to the world 70 years ago (January 1, 1953) when Hank Sr died at only 29.
Another great one written and sang by Hank is A House of Gold. Beautiful song!
In one of his two appearances on TV, he and a whole group of old country legends sang this together. He sang the second verse solo in that appearance.
There's an 8½ minute video compilation of all of his TV appearances/performances. The compilation video is labeled "Hank Williams-Kate Smith Shows March & April 1952" uploaded by Earl Martin.
It's the highest quality video I've seen of all his live performances. Those shows were about 8 months before he passed. June Carter, Johnny Cash's future wife can be seen in that compilation when she introduces a duet that's being sung by Hank and her sister.
Wish we had more videos of him.. There's also an audio recording of him doing an all day show in Philadelphia, I think. It's roughly a half hour of recording, but you can hear him interacting with the crowd a little in between songs. I think that was a few months before his death. The only recording of one of his live shows..
That and his raw live performances was surreal for me to watch and listen to, because I grew up on his music, and only saw pictures of him. So in my mind, I perceived him to be almost like a mythical legend. Especially since he almost predates every other legend in the genre.. Those videos made him seem more real to me.. If I had to compare an example of that experience to someone, I'd say it would probably be similar to how someone else would feel if they seen video and audio of Abraham Lincoln. It's difficult to imagine.
We sang this song in my church when I was growing up. I had no idea Hank wrote and recorded it. I just recently found that out not long ago.
Passed away at 29 years old. In that time, wrote around 167 sings.. 12 went number. 55 charted singles..
This was released the year before I was born but I heard alot of gospel music growing up. Every Saturday night at our house was The Red Foley Show and the Grand Old Opry, lol. Little tv, kids laying on the floor, mom and dad on the couch. Miss those simpler times. If you were lucky, and being the only girl and the youngest at that time, I got to sit on my Daddy's lap or between him and Mom.🤗
Thank-you for playing this wonderful song. If you liked this you'd probably like 'I'm So Lonesome I could Cry' - also by Hank Williams.
Old Hank sang a lot of gospel songs, and wrote quite a few of them too including this one, check out some more of Hank’s tunes.
Hank was a hard act to follow!
The Amelas One
He recorded songs with a social consciousness. The record company wouldn't release them because they didn't think they would sell. After fighting with the record company they finally released them under the name Luke The Drifter. Watch a video called men with broken hearts. It a song about homelessness. The video is modern, but the song is very deep and still resonates.
I had this song on repeat driving in a snow storm when I was 24. I'm 46 now. I believe it helped me get home..
God Bless you.
There's an old hymn by Albert E Brumley called "He set me free" that Hank borrowed a lot of the tune for "I saw the Light".
Hank Williams wrote this song, and so glad that so many young people are enjoying old time country music
Calling you.. by Hank is a must...
Sr was one of the greatest singers songwriters in history. Country Music Hall of Fame, rock and roll Hall of Fame, songwriters Hall of Fame. A Pulitzer prize for songwriting. Hank Jr. Is a hack.
Hank 3 is the truth
So many good songs Deck of cards is very good
When music was music, artists were artists & above all Country music was Country music.
Johnny Cash said he always wanted to write a big gospel song like Hank did by writing this.
This was my wife's favorite song by Hank Williams.
The GOAT of Country. Known as the Shakespeare of country
I know you're loving it. Doing the chair dance again.
Amen sang it in church everyone should
Poor Hank died only 29 years old.
What a wonderful young man ridden with addiction he couldn't beat. The pain killed him. God Bless Him.
Want real Williams magic! Watch the music video "There's a Tear in my Beer" preformed by Hank Williams jr. And a very VERY surprise guest.!
Love this song grew up on old country makes me think of my mother. Wish we could have a tradional country channel on tv Gay used to play music that I liked now I watch reaction on RUclips thank you
One of the first artist I ever heard. Dad played it on the record player.
He only lived until age 29. Still, nobody surpassed him in his genre. Johnny Cash came close. But Hank is still above them all.
Hank Williams Sr. was one of the greatest songwriters who ever lived. I would love to see you react to "Cold, Cold Heart", "Lovesick Blues", and "Move It On Over." But you truly can't go wrong with any of his music.
I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry. Who doesn’t shed a tear when Hank Williams Sr sings that?
This song has been a standard in many churches all over for my entire 50 years plus I'm sure!
One of my dads favourite songs. Whenever anyone asks him his testimony he always refers to this song. I’ve known the lyrics to this song since I was 5 and I’m 42 now.
My ABSOLUTE favorite country/hymn!!!!
This song makes me want to get up and sing Hallelujah! Thank you for your extended reaction! It was clear to me that it touched you as well.
You might like Stuart Hamblin's upbeat 'This Old House,' or Red Foley's 'Peace In The Valley' if you're looking for more classic country gospel.
Love Hank
Grew up with this song in my Baptist church. Great song, Great artist.
Hank sang under the pseudonym Luke The Drifter for all of his gospel songs. Back in the 40's and 50's record companies would install jukeboxes in honky tonks & bars. The requirement of having them was that they had to use their artists records when they came out with a new 45. Can you imagine, you're sitting in a bar & all of a sudden this song comes on, would kind of kill you buzz huh? The albums were released with his name on them after his death.
The country song that really shocked me was Josh Turner Long Black Train. I couldn't believe his voice was so amazing and he was so young.
I’m late to this vid but love the channel man if you enjoyed this you gotta react to Jambalaya by Sr. It’s a creole folk song he covered and is a great song
Didn’t even notice until the end of the video that my foot was stompin along to this historic best and song. Badass reaction. Keep it up!!
You love this song.
I highly suggest another great song by Mr. Hank Sr called, Lost Highway. I believe it's just as powerful and important as this one.
Hank wrote this song along with all of his others.
Yes he could sing. He gives me hope... if God can use him to reach people... then maybe I can be used too. He had talent and we all have some talent of some sort... maybe we can all be used for God's glory.
I believe this is one of the songs he himsel fwrote listen to be careful of the stones that you throw
Hank sr wrote his song kowliga at wind creek state park in alexander city in alabama on the side of a building about a wooden indian totem pole at the park but the park attendant not knowing who he was he painted over it
Love this song
Makes you want to sing along doesn’t it.
The Hillbilly Shakespeare
This one deserves so many more views and thumbs up! 👍🏻

Tonight big night in music history Hank williams sr died 70 years ago Tonight at age 29 he passed January 1 1953
Hank Williams died by a roadside in a car near my home in WV. I believe it was in 51 or 52.
Love your reaction to this! Now you should watch the movie by the same name, which tells his story. Starring Tom Hiddleston.
He was traveling with a lady named Minnie Pearl she was a Grande Ole Opry and HEE HAW star they were singing this and he stopped looked at her and said thats just it Minnie there is no light.
Agin the funeral plzzzz you won’t regret it BROTHER ❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥 Same artist
Nope gotta go back that songs to fire hahaha 🤣🤣
I know you focus mostly on K-pop and country these days but you are missing out on a Dimash vocal and visual masterpiece that was just released last weekend. Check out The Story of One Sky and prepare to be stunned. This is Dimash at his peak (so far). Composed and sung by Dimash himself and was 3 years in the making. He also shows us his sublime acting skills in this one as well. Very powerful anti-war message. Just remember to blur the video to protect against copyright strike. You won’t regret it.
Not bad for a song 76 years old.🙂
I’m 69 and this song has been a National Hymn for a long time and probably for years to come. Please react to BTS butter at the Grammys

One night while traveling with Minnie Pear and others they were singing this and he stopped and said thats just it Minnie there is no light sad life even being famous

I can't believe someone hasn't heard that gospel hymnal
Hank sr, Hank jr, try Hank 3 Your Cheating Heart. Looks, sounds like grandpa.
You should listen to The Ride by David Allan Coe.
pretty much any song by Hank Williams Sr was a greatest hit, the only person that could come close to matching Hank's style of singing or do any sort of justice to his songs was his son Hank Jr, except for Charley Pride doing Kaw-Liga.
Please do a reaction of the great Buddy Holly
Hey bro. Please do Mark Broussard lonely night in Georgia
