Der Schiedsrichter hatte bereits abgepfiffen und wertete den Torschuss als Ball wegschlagen. Da van Persie davor schon eine gelbe Karte hatte bekam er hier gelb rot.

I remember watching that game…they blew the whistle to stop play (offsides I think?), but Van Persie didn’t hear the whistle due to crowd noise and kept playing before shooting it wide. I think Arsenal was up 1-0 on aggregate (this was second leg) and ref thought he was time wasting and gave him a yellow, which was his second of the game. Of course Barca scores two goals in second half against 10 man arsenal and advanced 2-1. I also remember Bendtner getting a late breakaway chance to make it 2-2 where arsenal would’ve advanced on away goals but he never got a good shot off lol
