First heard her single “Come” in 2016 on the radio whilst driving my truck through France. Her music is So refreshing! Only wish she was more popular in The UK. Sidenote. She shares her birthday with my Daughter. Jain being 1 year older
WOW....! saw this girl on BBC at Glastonbury doing this on Sunday, does all her own music/lyrics, Born in France then lived in Africa and Dubai and it comes through in her sound. Love this cool as fuck tune and she can do it live. Can see her being massive.
She is pretty. That sums up everything about her. Song is technically a beginner level composition. Lyrics are dumb. `Makeba, my body dance for you`... (she dances with her body. That's new!) Ooooeeeh! Makeba! France still retains the largest military presence in Africa of any former colonial power. Ooooeeeh! Makeba! I think French should let go everything about Africa. She should leave the Makeba alone.
My god I've thought of this performance for years not knowing who it was. Then I saw a video of her elsewhere and thought "that's her"!! And it absolutely was!! 😊😂❤❤❤
So she is white and French and sings about human rights and the sufferation of thousands (if I heard that correctly) in "Mama Africa" - about as appropriate as the Japanese Takeo Ishi who yodels "Mein Vater ist ein Appenzeller" (my father is an Appenzeller --> Appenzell is both a village and a Kanton in Switzerland)!
wupperelfe yeah, you're right we should stay with the outdated clichés, France is the opressor of Africa, etc, etc... Maybe, you should open your mind a bit, it's 2017.
She wrote the song because her friends in Congo had’t heard about Makeba which amazed her because she was supposed to be famous in Africa (at least South Africa and nearby countries). But yeah lets stay with stereotypes.
Her mother is also Madagascan - she's white passing, just like halsey. And she lived in the congo growing up. So actually...not white, and arguably these sounds are part of not only her genetic heritage, but her culturally heritage also. If Takeo Ishi's father was really Appenzeller and he had lived in Europe for his childhood, then it would be as appropriate. Bad comparison love, but good try.
just awsome ... what a f**king brilliant song and what meaning.

I enjoyed her moves more than the song..
Great performance here with a real band. Shame she doesn't tour with proper musicians rather than using a backing track.

the first time i listened this song i loved it but now after some many remixes of the same i think there is no real talent just she is cutie.
thanks for tickoky and youtube shorts for ruining this tune.
Very good. K T Tunstall did it better.
Prefer the original guitar, this is too stock funk.
Such a hypostar....jain

a tribute to Miriam Makeba should be appreciated anyway...
