@BadBadBowling101 how would this compare to the Summit Peak? My summit peak reads super hard on the midland with a 2.4 something RG hoping to find something with a little more length for when lanes have carry down and transition.
That’s a great question, and to be honest with I think they read about the same place. Have you tried changing the surface on your summit peak? Maybe take it up to 4 or 5000 grit without polish allowing it to blend the lane.
What I did is put it on the ball spinner.. I hit it with 1000, 2000, 3000 then the true cut p5000D pad. So it will read about 4500, and the goal was to have it blend the lane instead of the violent reaction it had touching the dry boards. It worked 🤷🏽♂️
I ordered my Optimum Idol Pearl and can’t wait to try it! How do you like it? I’m a slower speed and rev player. My pro shop guy told me to get it and that it fits my game. Hopefully, it is as good as advertised.
Polish isn't what makes it pearl. Pearl is in the coverstock itself. Same that you can "shine" up a solid, or have a hybrid shiny or dull. For instance, I have an original zen (og pour, 1500 grit polished before that went away). I mostly keep that at surface. If I'm bowling in an intermediate pattern, mid-volume, I'll throw it at 2k. For league, I keep it around 3k. But my zen gold label I keep shiny The roto grip clone a few years ago was a solid, but came shined up with polish, on the other hand.
@agiraffenamedpenguin Wait!! The polish on a ball has nothing to do with the makeup of the ball nor did I ever insinuated it did. What I did say was the polish on the ball weather it’s power edge, 4k or reacta gloss changes the ball reaction when hitting friction. I also said some people need the polish to get the reaction they’re looking for, however I’m not one of them people. I like my pearls as well as any other ball I throw to blend end of the pattern. If I want my pearl or any other ball to go long I can get length by simply putting higher surface on the ball. Example 5000 grit actually has a shine to it, but blends the end of the pattern. 🤷🏽♂️
Well to be honest with you if I find a surface I like on a ball.. then I will immediately apply surface to it after I’m done using it each time. Remember the lanes change the surface of your ball before the 6th frame of the first game. The reason the ball continues to work so well is that the lanes breakdown with it.
Box surface isn't the end all be all. I know I like more surface than most balls come with today. I like that you will adjust surface to meet what you want to see. I know bowlers who say they only throw box surface. I will ask how many games they have thrown with it. 50. I then ask them when did you last refresh or refinish ball. They then say never. I then tell them you are not at box surface anymore and then look at me with a stupid stare.😂😂
😂😂😂😂 facts.. I always hit all my equipment with surface to be honest. I never leave box finish on anything, but for reviews I tend to let the people see what it looks like before I change it.
Well what I can tell you is I’m throwing pearls in league. I need to see if that will match the lanes a little better. I’m also not using any polish to get the Peals to blend the lane. So what I can tell you is this Motiv max thrill pearl.. Hammer Scorpion Strike… Rhino Green and silver… one solid which will be Ion Max or Magic Gem. Final ball is Phaze AI which I might start with 🤷🏽♂️. I will announce starting ball on the breakpoint.
