  • I recorded my first solo!! I admit, I was a little nervous, and therefore mixed up communication phrases. Overall, it was an amazing flight, and I owe it all to my CFI!!!

    Great job. I used to live a 5 minute drive from that airport. Flew there once with an instructor in a Skyhawk around 2003. I think I had the same tower controller. He talks fast! It looked like you had a windy day. I didn't have to make nearly so many corrections to keep the plane straight on final. Congrats on your solo. I've only got about 35 minutes total flight time and a bunch of simulator hours. Maybe someday I'll solo too.

      @gdsimmons1 7 лет назад +1

      I hear ya and advice taken. I'be been simming for years so this is a dream come true. My instructor said simming is great with the exception that most simmers turned pilots have to train themselves to look more out the window than at the instruments. My first lesson was amazing and I did really well. I have my FAR/AIM and started on the POH for the 172. This will be the most "fun" studying I've ever done. Good luch on your check ride, that's amazing! Stay in touch . . .

      Thanks Corey! I used a flow system during this flight. As a matter of fact, I'm reading off checklist items and combining a flow together throughout the entire flight as I talk to myself. You can't see it in this video, but there were a few "mini" checklist items taped to the instrument panel. As you said, this is 3 years ago, and I've now adapted to just using the big checklist on the front side pocket.

      Hey Jonathan, someone previously asked the same question slightly below in the comments but I'll just copy and past my response: I used an Nflightcam audio wire. It connects to my headset, the plane's pannel, and any other recording device with a 3.5mm jack. I used my phone and the voice recording app that came stock with the phone to record the audio.

      I used an Nflightcam audio wire. It connects to my headset, the plane's pannel, and any other recording device with a 3.5mm jack. I used my phone and the voice recording app that came stock with the phone to record the audio. The only negative side about this, is when editing your videos you'll need to line up the voice recording to the video - which could sometimes be a tedious task. That's why I said "radio check" 3 times so I could have an easy place holder when editing. Hope this helps! :)
