Glad to see you’re using/ possibly enjoying those Alijoz 400. Made a comment last year about them recommending after you tried Ryan’s bumping. Glad you don’t hate them nobody wants to be that guy. Looks like a killer day to be out, why does it always seem the days you are not fishing tournaments you always land some big fish, catch premium bait, and everything lines up. That's how it was for me at least lol.
I think I overthink the tournaments. I need to just go fishing. I'm slowly getting better at that.

He’s a commercial fisherman. Commercial license allows 6 some states more.
Spencer.....have you moved to north Alabama? If so I would like to book a trip. I use to catfish a bunch but dont anymore because of my back. Still would like to book a trip with you. I have mentioned this before but if you ever get the chance please check out the elk river. Back in the late 70's and early 80's i guided out of the elk river and landed some monsters. Elk river dumps into Wheeler lake and it is wood infested. Perfect for big flathead. I always used big live bluegill or live redhorse suckers.

My old ugly sticks are my go to rods from 8'-12'. I love my surf rods, lots of bend with braid.

Starting to move over to baitcasters now. Running a kapstan right now. Gunna have to give those ones a try too. Love your analytical approach to equipment and patterns. Started paying more attention to those things to hopefully get just a little better.

If u haven't fished for salmon or steelhead I recommend. But if u want to fight a giant, go to the Columbia River and fish for sturgeon. I've seen 12-14 foot long fish. Freakin unreal experience. U would prolly enjoy it.

Love this video and channel! Dyed in the wool flathead catfisherman here. Fish the Fox River in Illinois almost exclusively. They can be a bit tricky to find on this river but they’re almost all nice size fish.

Ya, with fishing rods, I caught an 18 inch channel cat last year that broke my old rod since I wasn't trying for catfish. Then I caught a 2 footer about 15 minutes later with that same broken rod.
I have another spare older one and one I caught out of a lake about a month ago that's light.
I figure I'll wait until one of those get snapped in half before I go buying another rod lol.
I primarily fish from the bank what would be in your opinion the best rod reel combo for maximum cast distance. Also what are those reels called I’ve watched the portion of the video where you said it like 6 times I can not get the name. Last question when rigging up your set up do you go heavier or lighter with your leader line. Last question seriously what brand line are you using. I watch your videos faithfully I need to go with you so I can soak in the knowledge
Dropping water is always best for me actually especially when it’s been high water . When water is dropping and beginning to clear but levels are a little above normal still is always the best fishing I’ve noticed in my area actually. But heck that’s for trout smallmouth and channel cats

Everytime I put a bait bucket or string of fish in the water it calls in the turtles. Even had a water snake chase our stringer of fish.

I put my shad in a 5 gal bucket for a few minutes and then put them in the live well I call it a puke bucket
Looks like a hassle to have all those rods out but those are some great fish your a very good fisherman good job

Meat Hunter rods out of Arkansas has some real nice shock absorption. I have them from 6 ft to 16. Love them for cats or spoonbills. I don't get a nickel either lol
