I hit these today at the PGA store with the Wilson rep. They look terrific, felt great, good height, distance and feel. My first set of real clubs were used Wilson Staffs, in 1970. Thankfully, I hit this new Wilson club much better lol!
Legend status with this video !! Would love to know how they compare to the D9 Forged and whether there wouod be any point in upgrading. The D9 Forged are butter
Nice review! This is the first iron that I've seen Wilson do that I may want to upgrade my LP irons to. I may have to go to a local demo day this summer to test them..... Maybe I will get lucky and not have a demo near me this summer. Save me on buying new irons... :)
Great presentation of these new Wilson irons. It appears that Wilson has consciously separated the Staff models from the Dynapower models. I like to see these irons with a weaker loft to better transition from the CB irons. However, Wilson have been on a good path with there golf products in recent years.
Trying to decide between Dynaforged , Dynapower or PXG Black Ops Irons. Need help with distance but need control too, dont wanna be hitting it long but losing it too much away from point of target.
Thank you for this review, Jim. Not sure I care for the offset on these irons. Once Wilson puts them up on their website I'll do a closer dive into them and check out their spec's. As of now, I lean more toward the CB's.
In my youth, I played W/S Fluid Feel irons and loved them! Now at 65 and 13 handicap, I need some help replacing the distance I'm giving up as I age. Still playing steel KBS tour lite shafts, but want to convert to graphite as I have developed a little arthritis in my hands. Any thoughts on a good way to go? Love the videos as they are not always about swinging at tour level speeds!
Well hello from northwest Louisiana where the weather can't make up its mind one day we are in the 70's the next the 40's. Mr. and Mrs. McGolf the doctor gave me the news today the soonest I will get to swing a club is July😢
I found a Wilson fitting today with the AI fitting tool. It fits into the butt of the club much like the Arccos plug, they ask a few questions, take wrist to floor measurements & swing away. Seems more user friendly than the Mizuno shaft gizmo. 3 to 5 swings & it spit out a few shafts. KBS Tour Lite & a few graphite shafts in the Recoil line. The KBS I don't like & have in my Tacomo 101's but I hit them anyway in the Dynapowers - not forged. Ultimately they thought the Recoil "dark" 65's was best for me. I must say I was swinging & hitting the Dynapowers horribly much like whenever I seem to go to a fitting session. Pretty depressing - I just can't hit off mats into a simulator. Anyway, I could not get along with the Dynapowers at all this day & they suggested I return when we can hit them outside. Fitting was free, no pressure at all to purchase & didn't laugh at my ineptitude. Although swinging like crap, I didn't really like the Dynapowers on the very few I did hit well. Will try again & want to test the Cleveland XL2's also.
Hi Jim I am a recent subscriber and happy that I found your vid’s. I am looking for new irons and very interested in the Wilson Dynapower or the Dynaforged. I recently just was fitted for irons at Dicks and I asked about these clubs. My fitter never heard of them😮. Called Golf Galaxy and it was the same. Nobody stocks Wilson! Anyway they fit me for TaylorMade Qi10 HL. Nice but stupid expensive. If I cannot find these clubs to try or get refitted, is it possible to recommend the Dynapower or the Dynaforged, the shaft, etc? I am 68, in good shape and shoot mid 80’s- low 90’s. ( hope to do better with new clubs) Specs on recent fitting: 7 iron- ball speed 98, spin 3682, carry 140 total 160, 70-75 club speed Shaft- graphite speeder NX 50 gram, Regular Length- standard Lie- flat 2 degree Any advice would be appreciated. Still searching my area but might have to purchase online. Prayers to you, your family, and your dad🙏 Thanks!
somewhere I saw mentioned that Wilson has developed some type of shaft fitting system for 2024 that can recommend a shaft in 5 swings? Possibly similar to what Mizuno had/has in their "shaft optimizer gizmo. As a fitter, any info on that? I am also a lefty & very interested in this 2024 product. Lots of pre-release buzz at my local Golf store from the guys in the know
I had a fitting with the Wilson AI fit last week. Hit 5 shots, pro selected best 3 and it gives club and shaft recommendations and a whole lot more info. Was pretty impressive and opened my eyes, shafts recommended were 20/25 grams heavier than I’ve been using! Got a set of Dynapower forged on order now, looking forward to getting back on the course with them in the bag (been a far too long, wet winter in Scotland for my liking!)
I have the wilson D9 forged irons, i do absolutely love them, feel amazing when struck good, but i wouldnt say they are forgiving, well not for front to back dispersion any way, if not hit out the centre u loose a good 10mph ball speed, smash factor drops a fair bit and loose a good 20 yards dostance.
I had been planning on trying to get the D9 for myself but hasnt worked out to find a set with the right shaft in them as the supply of them seems to have dried up. So quite interested in these as the replacement to those in the Wilson offerings. Is there much actual performance difference is the nagging question for me fron D9 forged to this new relaease?
I doubt they would be much of an upgrade. Similar AI face. 8020 carbon steel, and the structure/profile looks near identical. The D9 Forged are also slight thinner on the sole, so a better players iron
@@JDDD33 thanks. I'm probably going to stick with my DO set for at least another season. Now if Wilson could possibly get their new wedges? Even their precious wedges are sold out and my course is opening next week. I can stick with the Wilson wedges I have but they've been played hard and a few good nicks. Someday I guess. Thanks again
They would sell a LOT more of them if they didn't use that (likely plastic cap) thingy on the back of the face like so many do. Aesthetically it looks cheap, and occasionally one of them will fall off like one of my Pings did.
Jim, you skewed your results to show the club performed better than it really did. By taking out your 5 shortest and keeping the 5 longest your average improved from 173 to 178. None of the deleted 5 were poor strikes or duck hooks or slices. If I carried a 6 iron in the high 170’s to low 180’s and purchased these to try the feel of forged clubs based on your review, I would be very disappointed when I averaged 5 to maybe 8 yards less with these clubs.
Those Wilson Dynapower forged irons are just beautiful clubs....functional and beautiful !
That is a beautiful looking club. Well done Wilson!!

Agreed
Wilson made the most money of any manufacturer ever..!!
mostly with the FG series
Those irons sure are gorgeous...

Great review and fabulous looking club will probably get these.
this is the one i've been waiting for.

Getting fit for these on Friday!
I would really like to review and the details. I also like we didn't have to spend time once you hit balls. You've got right to the nuts and bolts.
thanks

sweet , just let me know
the offset is not any more than the D9 dont let the picture deter you

On other types of forged irons, is just the face forged there too?
Was the feel right for forged and do they feel heavier than the other non foged

Just thought ild add that since getting my D9 forged irons I have been playing my best golf so I do rate them.
Do you think these would be much different?
@@MrMatthew262 doubt it, probably the same irons with a different badge
Thoughts on comboing these with the CBs? I’m thinking 5-7 in Dynaforged and 7-GW CB. Based on the lofts there would be a 7 iron from each set. Thanks!
7 is a good breaking point, Keeping mind the CBs are weaker lofted and need to be adjust. which is not problem

There is a minor change to be sure, the D9 is out of stock so, if you dont find it now you probably wont.
I currently have D9 forged irons and playing them we'll. Is there any advantage in switching to Dyna forged?

ZERO
Hi Jim are the soles wider than the D9 forged
I believe the Dynaforged is a bit more narrow in comparison just an observation
When will these irons hit the sale selfs???? Thanks...
I can get them now
How do these compare to the D9 forged?
They ARE the D9 Forged.
I like calling it the DynaForged
Every time I see left-handed golf clubs pictured, I know it's probably McGolf. Thanks for carrying the torch for we underprivileged . 😢
And it comes in lefty
Are they ok for this old fart? As I get older l loose strength and need help keeping some distance.
So...
Its the D9 Forged then?
LMAO
I contacted Wilson to find out when these will be released and they said late January and I’m still waiting 😂
Picking mine up tomorrow.

Not a fan of badges but I like this one
