The focus appeared to be more focused on Roger and Brianna in the future. Many side stories exist however as the end of Outlander draws near the focus/story line should be on Jamie and Claire's story as it has been from the beginning.

I have watched all of the episodes in season 7 part 1 several times. I enjoyed watching them immensely. I can quote the dialogue . It pains me to imagine that I have to wait so long for the next episode . I am truly addicted to this series and the lives of the characters. I would love for the episodes to continue. I hope that the previous episodes will continue to be shown during this long break.

The very nature of their return to Scotland was to escort the body of Jamie’s cousin killed in battle …so this could be his funeral they were attending in Scotland so soon after landing .

I'm glad you mentioned about the promised 16 episodes. It felt more like a swindle or gaslighting, which seems to have become a trending experience these days. The interruption reminded me that TV shows are a business but the whole thing broke my dream like enthusiasm & brought me back to earth. Perhaps they can display a "subject to change" disclaimer before the seasons begin, just in case.
The cast can still act, it is the writers part that is the issue. The show is filmed in Scotland and UK filming isn't affected by the actors strike as they work under the Equity union instead. They are not allowed to strike. Filming of House of the Dragon is still underway as it is being filmed in England and Wales, despite the show being on HBO. So if the scripts are ready for S8, there is no reason they cannot film it.

My opinion is that "Outlander" is a cash cow for Starz, so they're gong to drag it out as long as they can.

There it is! Holding the continuance of Outlander is but a trap for fans to go and buy the books. Many of us have a problem with the writer's cruelty on Jeamy. Books might be wonderful, but their characters Jamie and Claire have cut the umbilical cord to become larger than the writer. Are the books they still selling as well? I wonder...

It is the senior Fraser that Jamie and Claire escorted back. Also Ian Sr, passes in the books. From something like tuberculosis I think. Can't remember. I know what happens but will not spoil it all for the series watchers.

I’m not sure when they’ll release part 2 but I’m hoping in early winter. I know the scenes for the Revolutionary War in Philadelphia were filmed in Liverpool in early November 2022 so I’m guessing they’ve completed filming for the entire season although they may still be editing the remaining episodes.
The funeral is probably Ian senior since Jenny is supposed to go to America after his death. I don’t know that Jamie’s cousin’s funeral will be shown beyond getting shipped to Scotland.

I agree with you there is no way that Rob Cameron took Jemmy back in time because he isn't a time traveler. He has no connection to the past nor does he have a gem stone for he and Jemmy to travel with.
I am wondering if the funeral that Claire, Jamie and Ian attend could be the funeral of Ian Murray Sr. Because I believe someone mentioned before that his health was not good and he was having difficulties managing Lollybroch.

They completed all the filming in January 2023. The post-production is underway by those who aren't on strike. I hope it will be ready in early 2023. The actors will be unable to do any press for the second half of season 7(If the strike continues)because the majority are SAG.

I agree. We were promised an extended season and then we were lied to as it was broken up into 2 seasons. One way to maintain Starz subscriptions as I wouldn’t have it if it weren’t for Outlander.

I think it's pretty petty of Starz to hold the release of the rest of Season 7
They know exactly what they are doing. People are not ending their Stars app to watch the whole thing all over while waiting for part 2 of the last season. Exactly what Stars wants! To me this whole thing is BS!

Distance affects the connection. If they are far enough away from each other it doesn't work, even if they are in the same time & location.

Ian senior dies, and Jenny gies back to America hiwever jamie is thought to be lost at sea so ends up marrying Lord John Grey, but Jamie returns. Bree eventually goes through the stones with the 2 children to escape Rob and find Rodger.
As they did not know there wqs gking to be a season 8 when 7 finished filming i reckon 7 ends with Bree, Rodger and kids all returning to Frasers ridge. Season 8 will be about how Jamies ghost was in future

The funeral is for James Alexander Mackenzie Frazier. Lord John Grey is in his military outfit even though he resigned his commission years earlier because it is Clair and John Grey’s wedding day (my assumption). Jamie did not actually die though. Basically, Clair had full intention of just going back to Frazier’s Ridge when John Grey finds out Clair is going to get arrested by the British and John says it would be his last duty to Jamie to marry Clair to protect her from being arrested. I wonder if the letter the Ian is holding is because they are receiving news of Jamie’s supposed death.

Yes and from the look of it they’re gonna leave a lot of the book out. Ian’s death in the book is heartbreaking for all. And then there’s Jamie and Leary’s encounter about why he wasn’t enough. I know they don’t have a lot of time for everything but if they took this encounter on they should have planned for all the important event in the books. Guess it doesn’t matter because they’re ending it their way instead of how the books would end it
I think Starz forgets what makes a series a success. The fans! Viewership #s.

Well it's March still no part 2
I am really losing my patience with trying to watch Outlander! First, they change from Netflix to Starz. Then they promise 16 episodes of season 7. Then, they change it to a weekly show and have to wait to watch the episodes. THEN...change it from 15 episodes to 7 episodes. This is getting to be to the point where I am losing my interest in the show and am ready to stop and say L'AMOUR! ARIVIDARCHI'! ALSO...GOODBYE!
The show started exclusively on Starz. Netflix picked up the older episodes eventually. They still are only up to season 6.
@annefox926 I do not like how Starz has portrayed the series. Netflix has done a much better, advertiser free, watch all episodes at your own pace, and enjoy it!
I just watch seasons 1-3 over and over. They are the best seasons. And if you watch it about ten times you kinda u d’état and what they are saying and then it makes sense. People that haven’t read the books or watched it repeatedly are lost half the time

I heard and read that season 8 is already done. My theory is: STARZ network has been offering (since, approximately May 2023) a major discount for new subscribers for 6 months. I think STARZ has influenced or decided to wait for the new season until after the majority of the new subscribers need to re-subscribe to see next episodes of Season 7 (at the earliest in January 2024.) I seriously hope I’m wrong. 😢
Season 7 Part 2 is already done filming, maybe they still need to finish editing. But Season 8 hasn't been filmed yet, I'm afraid.

Yes its very disappointing that Outlander Executives and Starz is playing games with the promised 16 episode season. Not cool. They will blame it on the two strikes. Again not cool. We'll be lucky to see a late summer release of the 8 promised and the series finale in 2026. ;(
