Oh this movie is super entertaining, but not in a good way. It's an absolute laugh of a watch. Super small scale, with an intergalactic empire losing to a damn primitive village of 150 people, I mean Zack Snyder and his writers have got to be joking. Does Tarak have Superpowers? Then why is Tarak running around with 2 damn axes like he has superpowers and is invulnerable to gunfire, Atticus noble dieing and then coming back exactly the same. Noble changing his mind about the wheat. It was an absolute embarrassment.
Would gladly take more seasons of unfortunately cancelled Netflix shows like Mindhunter for the $166m+ that was handed over to Snyder to bore viewers! Should be noted that Leave the World Behind which came out on Netflix 2wks before Rebel Moon P1 blew P1's viewership away to become the 5th most watched movie in Netflix history!
Yeah Nemesis just had these two cool robot arms lying around and thought "I gotta use them" ... and in this future having your arms removed and robot arms attached does not require surgery, a doctor, a clinic, anything. No it's a DIY kit where you just cut your own arms off and attach them. Yeah I am thinking Zack had this idea in 5th grade and used it now.
Thank you Devindra for the "NO. You cannot do that today." 40:59 It was a long time coming for that but the wait was worth it. Dave, drop that rote ending. Take a page from Jeff and his limericks and come up with an original ending for every episode. you can even use AI. Every eps has original opening, now do the ending. At the end off the day "at the end of the day" has run it's course.
They couldn't even do the outro 😂 I'm so glad I haven't wasted any of my time with these movies. Thank you all for taking the fall so those of us who wait to hear if something's actually worthwhile didn't have to. 👏
As bad as this was, I was almost expecting Snyder to appear after the movie to announce these were not "movies," but actually a two-part "pre-release trailer" for the immediate launch of Rebel Moon: The Video Game.... and the special thing is - they will gather the collective play-through data from the fanbase to determine the plot of the next movie! (arms out) Surprise! One of those "you decide" type of things... I can't believe it's this bad on accident, I just can't.
Does that even matter if it's a story ripped from better movies. You can just watch those originals because they are actually good. All Snyder knows these days is "the rule of cool" and that's just not enough.
Note: Not only is the string quartet music meant to be diagetic, and not only does it accompany the action/murders in tone and tempo throughout the intermittent slow motion and closeups, but when Kora runs away the musicians actually play her off like it's a cartoon. Without that music, it's a terrible, stupid scene, but with the music, it's beyond parody. I'm sure ZS & Co. thought they were doing some sort of avant-garde film making that was going to influence the craft for a generation, but it's hands-down the funniest scene in the movie.
Only positive thing about this movie is that Djimon Hounsou is in it but unfortunately he can't even do much with the horrendous dialogue that has been written for him
Re: the back-to-back backstories sequence, I suspect Snyder was watching "The Breakfast Club" and thought, "Hey - the part where they sit in a circle and talk about why they're in detention was the best part - I'll just take that, but make it even better with kick-ass visuals!"
Synder bros shouldnt be surpsied at this. From 300 to even this there was pretension. Man of steel, the 4 hour slog of the justic leaague...pretension and hideous story tellinjg. Yall synder fans need to stop endorsing the production of pretty looking turds.
I really enjoyed this movie. I understand why it's terrible, but there's a level of absurdity that I found hilarious, like the tavern completely going silent and turning to watch Djimon Hounsou as he walks up to the fire pit - well before he bursts into song. It's just one of those things I can't imagine gets through review by mistake.
I didn’t mind part 1 but part 2 went downhill fast. Action could be cool but I didn’t care about anything that was happening. With 4hrs of screen time Snyder still failed to get me attached to these characters. I was just bored. I’m done with this franchise now. Great review!
Just watched this last night. Until listening to this review I just automatically assumed the story wasn't finished and Part 3 would be out in a couple of months. I don't understand how that was meant to be the end of this story.
About the R rating... the R rating has the ability to make cool fight scenes even cooler, and make fun dialogue even more fun. It doesn't have the ability to make a terribly written movie a well written movie. I mean unless it's porn; and you have a 3 minute movie about a plumber coming in to fix the pipe and then your R rated version is a 47 minute version of the movie featuring hard core sex.
😂 You can tell which scenes Zach loved from Star Wars and which he totally missed because he was busy telling his PA how much better he could make the shot 😂.
Was expected ending to the seven samurai story line. Did not believe that love relationship at all. They are suddenly in love? Was watchable and entertaining. Still way way better then any of Zack's superman/justice league movies.
I consider this one film. It shouldn't have been broken in two parts. As of writing this, the R cut isn't out yet, but the PG-13 version of Rebel Moon (1+2) is the most poorly written, poorly plotted, and poorly thought out big budget film I have seen in a long time. Snyder has talent as filmmaker and can stage scenes and work the complicated Hollywood world with producers and finagle deals, but his writing and plotting ability is so diabolically BAD, it ruins any of the actual good attributes he puts on the screen.
I loved the video rant you did about the terrible movie! There was one important point you missed though, the spaceships that were powered by coal. WTF!!l lol
Oddly enough, steam-propelled spaceships are something being considered for long-range exploration. But they'd gather their fuel from water ices (taken from comets, icy moons, etc) rather than use coal, which would be incredibly weight-inefficent.
The Empire is really bad, we all have bad experiences with it and it is now on the backfoot because of dynasty is dead. Oh my god, the princess is alive! Let's unite the empire
See, empires are only a problem when BAD people are in charge! The solution isn't to change to a representative form of government, we just need a better dictator.
Basically when the group are captured by the Scorpion machine after they were betrayed Kai, Atticus Noble calls Kora 'Athur Lias the Scar giver' even before she gave him the Scar but correction!, Gunnar also dies at the end of part 2, so it wasn’t just Nemesis!,
Every frame of this film (and part one) is objectively a work of beautiful art. Pause it on any frame, and it's just stunningly beautiful. But it's in service to absolutely nothing. WHY is the cool robot with a lightsaber and antlers wreaking havok on a battlefield? Zack Snyder makes the best trailers. His director's cuts should be four minutes long, not four hours.
Either the titles of the last many reviews are just baiting (can't listen to the whole review yet), or somehow we diverged so much in taste but only very recently. Anyhow, I found it OK, as engaging as the 1st, and way above average for a straight to streaming release. Y'all have unrealistic expectations from such a film
Liked the divulging back story one at a time. Each story was interesting. They depicted their stories visually. If was super boring wouldn't care for it. This is how you do it in a real world group setting. Like in a AA meeting.
The title evoke the tone that they’re actually going for which is self-effacing self-indulgently insular nerd shit collage, I think the movies achieve that
Civil War tore us apart. Rebel Moon brought us back together.
The reviews for this movie have been way more entertaining than the movie itself.
Ikr 😂

"cookie cutter" + "cardboard cutout" = cookie board cutout
I do enjoy the rare angry sarcastic Devindra on the reviews. He’s usually so positive in his reviews.
"at the end of the day....Davinda: no!...no. was the best part of this!
Yeah Nemesis just had these two cool robot arms lying around and thought "I gotta use them" ... and in this future having your arms removed and robot arms attached does not require surgery, a doctor, a clinic, anything. No it's a DIY kit where you just cut your own arms off and attach them.

Rebel Moon: Part 3 - Time Waster
Rebel Moon: Part 4 - Slow-Moer
I can't believe you put yourselves through this...again...you are all heroes

great show as always. jeff's limerick is always the icing on the cake.
What I find most sad with Rebel Moon is that there is a interesting story buried somewherein that the movie. It's just that it's dreadfully told...
Does that even matter if it's a story ripped from better movies. You can just watch those originals because they are actually good. All Snyder knows these days is "the rule of cool" and that's just not enough.

I’ll get you Scargiver & your little friends too!!!
Holy crap he didn’t say it! He. Didn’t. Say. At the end of the day! This is a monumental day. Thank you for having integrity.
I refuse to believe that anyone who likes this movie has the ability to comprehend how much $160 million is; or what can be done with that much money.

The sister bloodaxe showing at the last second was a Deus Zack's Machina...
Legendary roast

I think that's where the wheat thing comes from. Copy and pasting seven samurai and replacing everything with space stuff except for the wheat.
