Finally you answered my question. I thought I was going crazy because my needle is in the left position for a straight stitch now after I played around with the many different stitches. I could have sworn it was in the middle position when I first sewed a straight stitch and there is nothing in the manual that explains this. Thank You.
I was taught where I bought my Jazz to thread it wrong. There are three pegs obvious in the process. You must go UNDER the metal plate near the first two. It is not obvious, but the instructions do show broken dotted lines there to mean go underneath.
After inserting the bobbin, pull the thread through the track, keeping the thread above that little metal tooth (which is there for a different purpose). Hope this helps.
There will be a slight sound because things are still moving even though they may not be touching the fabric. But if the knocking noise is significant then you may need to have your machine looked at.
You are a great teacher! I could listen to you all day😍

Glad that my video helped.
Yes! 2 times I jammed my machine not realizing the needle was not completely in the center!
Great teacher! So easy to follow!
Thanks so much!
I'm getting my Jazz II tomorrow; thanks for the walkthrough! ❤️
You're Welcome!
I would like to know more about the pressure foot button on the side. What fabric for number 1, 2. And 3.

Ok the bobbin thread. after the notch do you go straight to the track or go under the little metal tooth

What tension do you use most koften? My machine seems to like about 7.5 - but that seems high to me.
We have found that although unusual, that tension seems to work well for the jazz 2. You aren't alone in being confused by it. It baffled us as well!
Does this machine make a knocking nose when feed dogs are lowered while you are sewing
