    This is heartbreaking. Moms need access to stuff like these. I wish it was taught more at schools. In my country people can get married so early. Or even without that there are many unexpected pregnancies. Lots of shame in single moms, but we need to support them more!

      We do need to support single moms more. They get so much shame, but they’re just parents who are trying their best for their kids.

      My mum told me that her old next door neighbour’s baby had to have an operation on her baby due to having spina bifida.

      In our country all pregnant women have free access to a doctor, almost all of them get at least 2 visits to an obstetrician

      @WhiteHair Rules Your comment is just as horrible as a system which does not care for the health of the poor. If you are not from the US I would be very surprised. Most people in most civilised advanced economies do not think there should a different standard of healthcare for those who do not have money to those who have money.

      Most women get access to affordable healthcare when pregnant in my country also. I won’t say all. It depends on the visa status of women who are not permanent residents or citizens.

      @@brontewcat I'm from Sri Lanka, A poor country with lots of issues, we have a lot to achieve. But our health care is in par with most of the developed countries, its totally free.

      Exactly! Oh, man, if I knew I could not afford a doctor, I would not make a baby durrig that time. But at the same time, if I could be uninsured after I'm a few months pregnant.

    This breaks my heart, I’m Australian and didn’t pay a cent for seeing the midwife, getting ultrasounds or my emergency caesarean.

      In Germany when I was in the British Army I spoke to a pregnant woman who not only access to two child benefits but got a baby bundle as well free of charge, it baby wipes a baby bath clothes towels and new mother got the bundle whether the were rich or poor.

    My mom has spina bifida and it isn’t talked about much so it is nice to have it talked about and represent in the world

    Yet people jump to the celling in horror when they hear universal health care. I know it will be so horrible for poor ppl to be able to see a doctor during pregnancy and so on.

    OK. I get she does not have insurance. But surely in the states there are places woman can go to get free medical advice. I don't live in the states and we get free hospital care in NZ so I don't know, but aren't there woman's clinics in America that can do ultrasounds and give out pre natals for free?

      @@megandurrant4000 You still have to pay for the stuff that is used to treat you, from what I heard. The "advice" is free. I live in a country with free healthcare so I don't fully grasp it.

    and we get called uncultured monkeys down here in this 3rd world country, at least I will NEVER have to worry about needing medical assistance or dying on the streets because I cant afford ride on an ambulance or get a cold treated at a hospital like Americans do.

    Man, i hate to say it, but the american health care system sounds pretty inhumane... imagine going through a pregnancy and never setting foot on a doctor's office because you dont have money for it, and then having to deliver a baby with a preventable health issue...
