The VPN story is an ad. I'm not saying Scrubby did an ad read I'm saying that companies have started to post things like that story to help sell their products. That's not how VPNs work. They don't prevent networks from throttling your bandwidth or protect your private data; VPNs actually use bandwidth. A virtual private network is only truly effective if you've not connected to the Internet from whatever device you want to use the VPN with because they mask your ISP, that's it. So if you've been using that connection with your ISP and telling the Internet that you're connecting from your device from wherever you are, it's going to see that ISP whether or not you use a VPN. tl;dr story doesn't make sense and I'd bet money it's an ad.
