We first finalized the dates when we wanted to go taking reasonable flights into account, and then contacted multiple tour operators to get quotations for Maldives tour on those dates. Apart from taking 2 day tour of resorts from operators, we ourselves planned extra 1.5days to spend time in Male city. Hope this helps.
AFAIK public ferries aren't available on this route. If you're booking transfers through package or resort, then based on your timings, resort will arrange the ferry.
Price varies quite a lot according to season and how many months prior you're booking. Also, we booked for 2 days, 1 day watervilla and 1 day beach villa. Hope this helps.

First day i would suggest to stay at beach villa.
Checkout time would around 12-1pm, irrespective of flight time.

Adapter is not required as such, they have usb port for charging. For other electronic gadgets, you can carry universal adaptor.
