Steve is a amazing guitarist, probably of the top five ever. I'm 68 and been a fan since the 70s. I hope you continue with your music. All the best my friend!
Steve Lukather ...dude you crack me up!I'm 55 years old and have followed you and TOTO since 1977!So grateful you still do things in music OLD SCHOOL!!!
Old School .... practicing 10 hrs a day .... 👍🏻👍🏻 These guys are the real deal, i’ve grown to really appreciate their musicianship especially their live recordings and shows. Great stuff!!
Steve , I am still learning . And at 71 years old, that is beautiful. One thing I've learned from living a guitar life is ,practice and study out of your comfort zone.I discovered how much more I had to learn. And also , when my wife needs my attention,I give it to her. We have been married for 48 + years. You are a good example of how to survive as a rock guitarist. Not perfect, but real. Take care of your family and yourself.
Luke, you are such a warm, honest, loving human. I am loving hearing about your spiritual journey, when you feel safe you'll have to visit Sedona. You'd dig the spiritual community here.
Always a pleasure hearing from Steve. And amazing guy and a good friend to have. The interviewer is so amateur at his job that he doesn’t know when to jump in, and when not to, he rarely lets the story completely play out, but instead he’s mangled in his own mental thoughts rather than listen to what’s being spoken and actually going on. 😢 Such good opportunities missed to do it in a more refined way.
It is so good to hear he still records the old school way. There is a distinct difference in the way things sound. "The old guy on the hill"!! Reminds me of the Twilight Zone episode "the Old Man in the Cave"! Love listening to Steve.
Jeff was one of my influences back from the Toto debut album. I can only imagine Luke’s devastation to lose not only the band’s original member, but a cherished friend. And the Mike dies. That will shape your soul. I miss them terribly as well. Thanks for the raw honesty Luke, it’s great to feel your heart.
I think Steve Lukather is a wonderful person and, for me, the best guitarist ever. I follow and listen to him and Toto for decades. Keep healthy and I hope we can enjoy your person and music for years to come!
Glad to see Luke taking credit for quitting drinking instead of giving credit to a rehab group or higher power. I had a similar experience with the morning vodka blues. It's hard to quit, and nobody can do it for you. If you manage to stop, give yourself some credit.
Luke makes the interview great. I miss an actual band that records like he says. I lived it back in the day. Now it is easy to make songs. However, getting great musician's to record and having great lyrics and the structure is a great starting point. Doing it remotely is a different environment and not as fun or tight with room to breathe but at same time it's still making music with real musicians.
"They don't have the balls for it." 100% correct. It's really sad what's happened... musically, societally, and spiritually (i.e. enthusiastically). To put it eloquently,... most shit fuckin' sucks these days.
Message to Steve: 37:48 "I'm in my 50's but on behalf of all the 'fn punkass kids who dont have the chops for that', your comment was extremely disappointing and arrogant given so many young people look up to you. True, you are extremely talented but studio tools are available to everyone nowadays and why not make use of them rather than going to a studio, we've also just been through a pandemic and times have changed and people do good work at home. There are very talented young people out there and its not true that everyone can write a song, not a good song anyway. It takes years of passion and hard work. I dont appreciate arrogance from you or anyone and you're very lucky to have gone through trying times in the studio where u just had to play 'the fn thing'. Not everyone is as fortunate as you Steve/Luke or whatever your name is. After listening to this, you've come down from a very high place in my list of heroes, absolutely disgusting." Don't want his book anymore.
Steve is the real deal, and one of the greatest musicians of all time... not to mention, a great soul!

Never thought Luke would bring me to tears during an interview. Love you, Man, and so does God.

I do remain those old school ToTo-long playing records... Luke is the one who made me face the real music. Tnx mate
What a beautiful human. He gets it. Luke is so honest. I can feel his spirituality. His new album is great 👍 Keep it up Luke 🙏💜🎵
Beware of a Luke troll asking people who comment to DM them etc. yeez can’t even comment without trolls 👎

This dude is so talented!! I wish that I had just a small piece of his talent! And for his childhood dream to come true!!!! How awesome is that???
I think Steve Lukather is a wonderful person and, for me, the best guitarist ever. I follow and listen to him and Toto for decades. Keep healthy and I hope we can enjoy your person and music for years to come!
This guy is a great man even without his guitar
Just a good man.
Luke is my idol. I absolutely love him, he’s such a real person. What a great musician.
Love you Steve....hang in there.
That’s what I love the most about Steve,,,at around 37:50 he just tells like it is!!!!
Steve is the epitome of humility..... with all that he has accomplished, I rarely hear him bring up his bronze medals from the Special Olympics.
Congrats to Steve on living sober!!! It’s not so bad!! Lol
Loved the 70s vibe in the work. Real and fun, like you! Thanks for sharing music like that just when our lonely, isolated souls needed it.🤩
Glad to see Luke taking credit for quitting drinking instead of giving credit to a rehab group or higher power. I had a similar experience with the morning vodka blues. It's hard to quit, and nobody can do it for you. If you manage to stop, give yourself some credit.
Steve my Love🎼🎵🎶🎤🎸💜💜💜😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘
Lukather is the greatest!! He just demoted Ringo from “AA” to simply “A” without skipping a beat!! 🤣🤣🤣
Love Luke’s awesome self deprecating humour..a mega star without the asshole ego ...refreshing 👍
The Best!
Steve and “Magic” are synonymous words. If you need a gig please come north!
You can totally tell Covid was making this guy insane in the moment and rightfully so. Love this guy.

The part about Weezer being stuck to play Africa for the rest of their career is hilarious. The joke is on them. Lol.

Back when you had to know how to play instruments and have a talented voice.
Anybody else think the interviewer kind of looks like Beethoven?
Luke! 🤘😡🎸
Weezer version of Africa sucks
Toto version of Hashpipe beats the original by a mile
Steve needs pair of rubber gloves.
