Loving this tutorial series! By chance maybe after this series (if you hadn’t already made it) you could make tutorials for simple (or advanced) cutscenes for games? Thank you and excited too see what’s next!!

You can actually use the GUI layer to draw this with the scaled up pixel style by using a function to scale up the GUI layer; for this project, you can use display_set_gui_size(640,360) in a game controller sometime after the first room has been loaded... Using a controller in the main setup room for example.

This has been incredibly helpful, but I have a question regarding the fading in of the game over screen. So, in my project, the game over text is delayed by a few seconds, but no matter what I do, it just keeps snapping to full opacity and doesn't fade in due to the amount of time it takes to fade in and the fade in delay are equal. How may I go about delaying the actual fading in of the text itself? Also, I am more than happy to give more context or share code or whatnot if need be.

When my player dies in another room and I trigger the restart, it just restarts the room that I died in but my player is non-existant in that room. It also adds one of the weapon that you start with to the list, adding one to cycle through each restart.

Hey Peyton, the game over works great, but whenever I restart the game the FPS gets slower and slower with each restart. Do you have any idea what could be causing this?
Edit: After further testing,, I've noticed that the games FPS just does that after around 2 minutes regardless of restarts. I think it's because there's too many objects in the room or something.
