      Hahah a yeah, the school system has no idea about this sort of learning. I've been fighting this for 35 years. The teachers I had were a joke. They thought if you didn't do what they said you would never have a successful life. And yet now looking back at them. I don't know what they consider a successful life but it wasn't what they were teaching. Today we're still 30th and no in the world and spent 35 years later. The nea and everything to do with the education system is completely outdated antiquated and doesn't understand what it takes to live in this current age. The information age and how to make a living, how to be happy and all the things that really matter not who fought the war of 1812.

    I came to similar thought processes when highly stressed a while back. There was a period where several things had happened (car related, money related, living situation related, family related) in a short amount of time and I remember one night not being able to go to sleep because of how I was going through everything about how many things I was going to have to do/deal with. I was taking on everything all at one time, trying to figure out all situations at the same time. Eventually I got tired of stressing out about all of it so I basically told my self in a very frank way something along the lines of "it is what it is, this is what you are going to have to go through." Once I let the "shi**ness" of the situation wash over me, I was able to 'slow things down' and realize that I had time to resolve these things AND decided to just tackle one thing at a time. In essence, to compartmentalize things. Once I got that concept, my stress levels dropped, and I was able to just focus on what I needed to focus on in front of me rather that worrying about what I needed to get done eventually. Small steps first, get in that habit of knocking down what you can then the rest will eventually follow.

      Frankl's philosophy in that book is not at all about refusing to suffer.
      Frankl actually advocates embracing and accepting suffering in a dignified way.
      How do you think Robbins' 90 second rule would have worked out for the inmates of Auschwitz?
      Suffering is a natural and unavoidable part of all our lives. It certainly outweighs pleasure, that's for sure.
      I think Robbins is smart and all power to him, but anyone who thinks life is too short to suffer is either incredibly lucky, or incredibly naive.

    For anyone who's interested and wanting to learn more, when Tony talks about learning to breathe and watch his thoughts go by instead of being attached to them, that's called mindful observation. Becoming a mindful observer of your thoughts is one of the best skills you can learn, it's kind of like sitting back watching a movie in the theatre as opposed to being in the movie.

      I don't think mindfullness is supposed to be used around trauma. It makes things worse.

    • @lilacscoffee9360
      @lilacscoffee9360 8 дней назад

      @@justbe990I'll do my best to explain it. Oftentimes, when a thought pops into our minds we "grasp onto it" by thinking about the thought we just had, then adding other related thoughts to the original thought. Then those series of thoughts about a particular event, worry or frustration begin eliciting certain emotions from us. This can become a flurry or outright avalanche of negativity that began with one simple thought popping into your mind. Instead of doing this and getting sucked into a downward spiral of negative thoughts and emotions, when a thought pops into your mind that might otherwise cause you anxiety don't attach to the thought. Simply observe it. Just because a thought pops into our minds doesn't mean that we need to add other thoughts or emotions to it that will cause it to snowball. Just see that one thought for what it is- a thought. Nothing more. Your mind will want to tack on other related thoughts because that's how our minds are. Push those other encroaching thoughts away and just peacefully allow the one thought to exist on its own. Just because something pops into our mind doesn't mean we need to entertain that thought. It's like sitting down watching TV and a bunch of ads come on. Just because you're in front of the TV doesn't mean you have to pay attention to the ads. You know the ads are there, but you can look elsewhere in the room, get lost in thought, focus on a project, do a task, etc. and the ads will still play, but with very minimal attention from you. Eventually the commercial will end. It's a similar way with your mind. Don't interact with the thought. You can see that it's there, but remain unattached to it. Eventually the thought will drift away. We have tens of thousands of thoughts a day. Learning to disengage from our thoughts sometimes isn't always easy, but with practice it can be done. Hope this helps!

    This is great advice. So much of whatever I’ve suffered in life has been suffering from my own thoughts, which create realities for me, oftentimes bad ones. Not to say it’s never been caused by other people because I’ve had a lot of trauma in my life but most of it comes down to our decisions how we treat our stress.

    • @JV-kn3yz
      @JV-kn3yz 11 месяцев назад +2

      it makes sense to me that you think like that, but doesn't it feel selfish or at least very oblivious to do so? Because many people are suffering so much right now. It makes me think, is there something I could do about it? You could have an impulsive thought and say "no, if you live miles away and you're no one important or anything, there's nothing you can do about war and human trafficking" but... is that really true?
      I think that something I would really like to do and take as a mission is to spread awareness to people (through art because that's what I love the most, but I like educating arts especially, not oblivious), like helping people calmly learn about the world without jumping to conclusions like "oh those people are the enemy!! evil!!" and see that there are two sides in a war, or like learning how human trafficking works (which even I don't know very well right now), how wrong it is, how to detect it and what we could do to avoid that from happening to us or to others, be it close or far from us. The importance of education, schools, and learning the history of the world and all humans.
      Having knowledge, being aware and not being easily manipulated are, to me, some of the most important things to have in this world. To know what's going on and to have a critical mind. It doesn't mean to be consumed with negativism, because only through working out those things you can make a safer country to live in, and secure more rights to people, things like that. If you're oblivious and happy, you can be easily manipulated by any politician later when it comes the time to vote and determine the route of your country and maybe you'll vote on some ass that will do more harm than good. Positivity doesn't have to be like that. To me, the positivity I aim to have is, yes, gratitude for what we have now, but also the hope for a better future, that needs to be sought after. And to seek after that, you can't be that oblivious.

    It’s called emotional resilience, and that’s what you see in the superhero movies, where they don’t seem to be affected by all of the stress and tragedy they just encountered.
    Somethings you see in people who might’ve encountered wars, and then come to our country, and they seem like the most joyful people.
    It does take practice because most of us haven’t learned to let go of the stress, unless we see it awesome example of someone else, or from the words of a coach.

    I've learned SO much from this fabulous Earth Angel. This concept works for me 95% of the time ~ among my best tools! While I am a peacemonger, Mindfulness is now double-holstered where I unceremoniously 'shoot down' nasty thoughts much like them varmints that irk Yosemite Sam! ;-)
    THANK YOU for all of that and more. I am truly humbled and so appreciative of your teachings, #Tony Robbins

    I totally agree with Tony! I've been using phrases to question myself: Do I really have to feel this way? I'm being pressured to move out of my apt and have nowhere to go, with apartments are 3x what I can afford and I'm in a very bad financial position. But I'm going to hear free music tomorrow with some other people, which is very good for me.

    Oh Tony, I wish I could do this. I just lost my dad. I’ve lived with him for 23 years. He sold his business when he was 91. Faye Phillips broke his hip, and we’ve been codependent ever cents so I have had a pretty easy go of it until now because I don’t know what to do with my life and I’m scared. He left me a big house. I have talents many of them, but I don’t know how to implement them. I want to keep this beautiful home that we grew up in but don’t know if I can keep up the payments and fix it as it used to be when mom was alive! so many questions with no support I really did help badly. I am in dire need! I was a TV producer in DC for 12 years interviewing everybody from Reagan and Nixon etc. when my mom got sick I came home sick care of her and then I stayed afterwards to be with daddy so I haven’t worked since then really except for the philanthropic work. Everyone thinks I should write a book which I want to do and it started but that can’t make me money enough to live on. I just need help to live out the rest of my life Happily. I’ve been engaged, but never married lost a child and my dogs are my babies. Please help me.

    "And watch the thought go by"
    That's the magic right there🙏
    Stillness of awareness in the midst of the movements of samsara 👌👌👌💎💎💎🌈🌈🌈🙏🙏🙏
    Someone who doesn't allow his thoughts to think him 👏
    "and the level of joy surpasses all the money you could have in a million years!"
    This coming from someone who clearly knows what happiness money is capable of delivering as he's got a net worth of 600 million dollars.
    "coz you feel so rich already"
    Bravo 👏
