Me, a soapmaker, knowing you can't eat the soap... still kinda wants to take a bite out of the unscented one. LOL I'm a summer hater, so I love completely skipping summer by working on autumn soaps and scrubs in summer. 😅 These are so lovely, Holly! ❤ BRING ON AUTUMN!
Thank you! I hate summer as it usually goes in Missouri...humid and miserable. It's not been bad in Montana this summer at all. We had a couple of weeks of hot and smokey in July. That's when I was filming this video. Haha! It's been amazing here since then!
Very beautiful Ms. Holly!!!!!!! The 2nd batch reminds me of a cream sickle pop that I had. It makes me want to go get me another one!!!!!!! GOD bless you!!!!!!!!!!
Oh, Holly, your videos are always so soothing to watch! Your tips and tricks along the way are so helpful and so appreciated. What gorgeous, yummy fall soaps!
Hi Holly! Great video, as usual. Don’t you just love Simi’s book, she has a lot of great tips, and soap recipes. I hear ya with the heat, Im from Indiana along with an abundance of humidity too, so I’m not quite ready for Fall either, but making my Fall line too. I love Hobby Lobby too, I can spend hours in there just looking at things!😁 Love your apron. Take care and hope you have a wonderful day.
Thank you! The heat here actually hasn't been too bad. We had the worst of it while I was filming this video. The last 5-6 weeks have been amazing! No humidity...I love breathing! 😂 I hadn't been in Hobby Lobby for many years...I got stuck in there for a while!
Love love love this soap! I was shocked when you added the goat milk to the oils. Everything I have seen they add it to the lye solution. It’s inspiring to see a different method so you don’t have to freeze the milk and allow the lye solution to cool overnight. Genius!!! ❤
Thank you! I use milks at a small percentage so into the oils they go like other additives. If I was doing a full milk soap, I would need to freeze the milk and slowly incorporate the lye into it.
Hi Holly, I love your videos!!! I just bought that exact book. I love Muddy Mint so much!!! I’m inspired to make this soap too. My bakery is fall theme year round and I want to make this soap as gifts for my customers. 🎃
Already done my Halloween soaps now working on a big Christmas Teacher order. Any extra batter I have left I make cupcake soaps and hand them out to my neighbors.
Such beautiful soaps! I also love no added scent soaps! I usually add additives at around 2% of my oils weight, Is that also a good ratio for a puree as an additive? Or would suggest a bit more? And yes! Simi's book is awesome!
Thank you! It varies for every batch that I do. I am more cautious and used less than 2% for pumpkin here. The milk and syrup were in addition. I am still very cautious but milks and sugar isn't as concerning to me as purees.
Thanks for the video! Do you find that adding pumpkin makes a difference in the soap? Bigger better lather, bubbles or cleaning quality? I am hesitant to add food to soap... someday I'll take the leap! Maybe applesauce?
Thanks for watching! I don't really notice much difference for the pumpkin itself. The maple syrup and the goat milk really add a lot to these batches.
Thank you! We aren't able to ship to Europe now that registrations and fees are required. I just don't ship enough to justify the expense. However, I am researching a broker option. Many of my International customers use a forwarding service.
Hi Jobeck. Greetings from Pretoria, South Africa. I add maple syrup to some of my soap depending on what I am making. Sometimes, I add it to the oils, like Holly did and other times I add it after trace. But in both instances, I always mix it with a little water. I do the same with honey. A good rule of thumb is not to use more than 1 tsp of the syrup/honey per pound of oil. Hope that helps. I never had any batch over heat or burn.
Your soaps are beautiful. I love fall colors. I'm new at trying to make goat milk soap. I have a question. I used frozen goat milk with lye every thing went well I thought. The lady I was watching said to freeze it after putting in the mold, well I did for 8 hours and then I took it out of the mold and when I cut it there was an off shade color through the middle. Can you tell me what I did wrong? I'm very discouraged.
Thank you! It sounds like you got a partial gel. I say just go with the gel. You can try to prevent overheating but allowing a soap to gel is ideal in my opinion.
I saw a Lady from Australia, she said when that happened she pre heated the oven to 170 F then shgurn it off and added the soaps in a trail. Can't recall the time but believe for ten minutes @@carolynphillips6690
It is really going to depend on the IFRA on the fragrance you choose to use. It varies a lot! Typically fragrance is added at 3-5% of oil weight max but many fragrances have a much lower rate. The ones with a lower rate are typically very strong. So it all works out.
Just wondering why in the 33:00 minute marker you don't put the bar of soap flush again the edge before cutting? Look s like you end up with 2 small cuttings while if it was flush it might equal to 1 bar.
Typically, the only time milk is used to make a lye solution is when it's a full milk soap. I add milk as an additive. It is still considered part of the 'water' portion so I subtract that amount from the water I mix with the lye. So the water that I use to mix up the lye solution is reduced. As long as it's 50/50, the lye solution will mix properly.
Holly these soaps are gorgeous. Where did you get your apron? That’s a very nice apron. Thank you for sharing.😊 Turmeric also works great for coloring.
Thank you! Does the turmeric work for orange? I am going to have to do some research on that. The apron is off of Amazon. I will add a link to the description box!

That's fun! I have my Halloween soaps all done too!
These look so dreamy ❤
Thank you Patricia!
Beautiful soaps, love your pinny
Thank you!
Beautiful!
Thank you!
Gorgeous as usual!!
Thank you!
Love your videos. Love Simi book. I made that soap too but used buttermilk
That's fun! I usually do pumpkin buttermilk but the goat milk was calling my name this year!
Pretty sure I'm not the only one who wishes soap was edible.
Sometimes! What really gets me is when I make Coffee Scrub!
Do you count the maple syrup as liquid too?
I sure do!
Did you use any presserv for the pumpkin mash?
No, I am not sure what that is. If you mean preservative, it's not necessary in cold process soap when made appropriately.
Such beautiful soaps! I also love no added scent soaps!

@@moriversoap Thanks for the reply! I'll be trying some various puree soaps this week, so this info is very helpful.

Looove Autumn soap videos :))) and can't wait for winter soaps😍Holly, do you ship to Europe?

Wonderful soap! I'd be stressed out that the Maple syrup (?) would accelerate or burn. Is there another way to add it?
Hi Jobeck. Greetings from Pretoria, South Africa. I add maple syrup to some of my soap depending on what I am making. I don't really have an issue with it at the amount that I use. The combo of the three did heat my batch up a bit though.
Can you use powdered milk?
I do that sometimes too! I used powdered goat milk in the newest video today.
Can you share making your wax melts? I love your channel!
Thanks! I do have some wax melt videos on the channel.

Hi what could you cover it with so it can still cure properly thanks
It's best to leave cold process soap open to the air to cure.
@@moriversoap ok thanks I was worried about dirt and dust
How is the cabin going?
It's taken a back seat for a while but hopefully we can get back to building soon.
If I wanted it scented how much scent oil?
It is really going to depend on the IFRA on the fragrance you choose to use. It varies a lot! Typically fragrance is added at 3-5% of oil weight max but many fragrances have a much lower rate. The ones with a lower rate are typically very strong. So it all works out.

They don't quite make a full bar. The edges are bumpy and not presentable for a bar that I am selling. I use the end pieces for tests and samples.
@@moriversoap thanks so much for the information! I am new to your channel and soap making. Love your videos 🤗
It doesn’t make you smell like maple syrup, does it?
No, it doesn't. The scent of food products rarely comes through in soap.
? How do you do a water discount when adding cream and milk into oil when you need to mix with the lye solution?
Typically, the only time milk is used to make a lye solution is when it's a full milk soap. I add milk as an additive. It is still considered part of the 'water' portion so I subtract that amount from the water I mix with the lye. So the water that I use to mix up the lye solution is reduced. @@moriversoap the less turmeric used the more yellow it is and the more turmeric you use it will be very orange.
