Do you know how many km it was from surprise point cg to the glacier in eremite? Very helpful video btw!

Update for summer 2022: Astoria to surprise point is very tough terrain, trail is not maintained at all, lots of trees down and high rivers. Surprise point to maccarib campsite, was great. Maccarib to portal parking was lots of deep snow, we fell about waist high at some points. Boyfriend is 6”5 and he was waist deep. It was very hard. Astoria parking to Astoria campground was nearly perfect trails, just a bit of mud.
Also noticed the signage was off a little bit as we were walking more than what the sign was saying.

Thanks for the update! Things are a bit late this season with the delayed melt

@@SebastianBennett Identical trip to yours. Surprise Pt, Amethyst, Portal and same day trips planned.

@@dgrout it sure that they would have fixed the bridge to the eremite valley. I believe rope would be useful if it’s still broken, it’s definitely slipper and could be sketchy to cross. Going around was a bad idea as you saw from how much bushwhacking we had to do to find the trail again. Have other day hikes planned in case it’s uncrossable. And definitely get an early start on that second day!
