I think if you’re in a relationship it’s good to have a balance of who pays. Like if someone pays for the food or drinks have the other person offer to pay next time. Doesn’t have to be constantly splitting the bills but sharing paying otherwise that’s not fair on the other person. So rather than whoever it was saying ‘send me £7’, next time they get a coffee or smthn Evelyn offering to get it. That’s my opinion anyway

@9:25 even if it comes off as bratty due to tone, you’re still right. Whoever asks the other person on the date should be the one paying. If they can’t afford it and want to have dinner dates, they need to work for it. Of course you can be upfront and say you’d prefer to split the bill, which is also fine, but I think it’s common courtesy to pay if you ask.

Her stance on who should pay on dates makes total sense and is a valid opinion. She wasn't saying that ONLY the male party (in a straight relationship ofc) should have to pay for EVERY date... she was talking about the scenario when the guy asks a girl out for the 1st time and then doesn’t pay or even blatantly expecting the girl to pay. I personally find these guys poor mannered. The one who initiated the first couple of dates should be the one to pay for it, and in her specific scenario she brought up that the guy asked HER out.
Also I kinda agree with the "cheap" thing too. I think two adults should be financially and emotionally stable before getting into any sort of a relationship, even if it's just one date. I understand wanting to save money ofc, but then do a less expensive option than eating out. if someone (man or woman - and in HER case, it was a man) isnt in the place to pay for dates, then it's honestly probably not the right time to start dating.

As a 30 year old woman actively dating, I think Evelyn’s comments were a bit harsh. I think the current dating mindset (for heterosexual dating) shouldn’t be “the guy should always pay for everything”. Women are perfectly capable of paying for the dates as well, and I think it’s just a reminder again of how much societal pressure is put on the men to ALWAYS pay for everything. At least from my perspective and experiences while dating, don’t always count on one person to pay for everything. Whoever initiates could choose to pay and if you’re comfortable going dutch, that’s fine. I’m a grown woman and I make enough money, so I’m perfectly fine paying for my meal/date. High maintenance is just an excuse, though, even if it is self-labeled. No hate, just a small opinion from someone who is older and has a bit more experience.😊
