With the decapods, I'm getting the 1630. I'm from Chicago and at the Illinois Railway Museum we have the 1630... so if you live in Chicago or the area it's kinda a must
I really like the teal E8. Used to be visible from 287 South but I haven’t looked recently. The group that is the custodian of it has open house days and they have many nice pieces. I only have so many dollars so I am going for the Big Boy Set. In the end there is a limit on money and space.
NHO scale you could get the Bowser Big Boy kit which was all metal and you could put it together and it was a reasonably priced as well as a good running detailed locomotive. In the seventies you can get a river Rossi big boy for 30 bucks. But when you are an HO scale and you are modeling a specific railroad you do not have big boys on a New York Central layout or a Santa Fe layout either. K - line came out with an o27 size big boy I ordered it and forgot about it and three years later a box showed up on my doorstep which was the locomotive I forgot about it and I was going to send it back when he was going to cost me $100 of the $400 I paid for it to send it back so I kept it. It is still in its original box if I run it it will be on my 027 layout that is underneath my regular hi-rail layout since my favorite 027 locomotive is the orange Union Pacific 202 the Union Pacific Big Boy will fit in because all of the other locomotives and cars will be 027 it will not be under sized like the turbine was. The layout consists of four ovals surrounding the orange Mike's train house train station. But at $400 with conventional control and basic railsounds it is a bargain compared to a $2,700 big boy that requires 096 curves. My 027 big boy is three-quarters the size but almost 1/10 of the price of the big one. How much of the locomotive price is for the name on The Box if it was being sold by its original manufacturer under its original name would you buy it if it did not have the Lionel name on The Box or would you buy it anyway and enjoy the savings? Because you know Lionel does not do anything except put its name on The Box. You pay the Lionel tax by having its name on the box the same way you pay the Harley tax because it's got the Harley sticker on the gas tank same scenario.
Freight trains on horseshoe curve in esteem days would have to decapods on the front end and two decapods pushing that would be a very expensive train tomorrow even if you had the space
The wire tether on the decoupage is because it is an old Mike's train house engine now that Mike is kaput some of their engines are being fought by Lionel from the factories in China that used to sell them to Mike's train house. The CamelBaks are also X Mike's train house the 0-60 tank switcher when it came out was $100 nice diecast little steam locomotive that you can give to a kid for a present for him to run now it is jammed full of bullshit and electronics as is three times the price. I'll wait and buy one of the nice simple locomotives when I find one at a train show and I'll probably get it for less than $100.
I bought a bunch of trains from the guy who ran the motorcycle shop a guy had died and he said got flooded and unfortunately all his good stuff with Frozen but he did have two rdc's that escaped the water one with a Lionel and one was an AMT
When I was a kid back in the mid 60's, we were in New York City, and I saw those green NYC E units pulling a passenger train. I believe there were 3 painted that way.
Lionel made the Mickey Mouse handcar for a dollar they sold a million of them it's saved the company from bankruptcy. Everybody loved Disney stuff in the 1940s because it was great stuff not like the crap they make now kind of like Lionel they made great stuff in the old days before the war.

I cant consider much of anything from this Catalog. I can't afford anything. The Tax and Shipping on those Big Boys are gonna cost a person another 250 dollars on top of the Price. I'd rather purchase MTH Products new and pick up a bunch of their Cars cheap off of eBay. The only thing I would consider at all is the Willy Wonka Set.

I have some old model railroaders where people took to Lionel Berkshire locomotive and made articulated locomotives out of them because they were not available from Lionel. The resulting locomotive looking detailed and find running as well as being a humongous puller and did not cost more than a car. You realize your stuff is made in China where they make $2 an hour makes me wonder what the real cost of this locomotive is. They keep raising the price until they can't sell them anymore to even the Fanboys. Notice they don't have any version in conventional without all the bells and whistles. Makes me wonder how much the electronic scrap cost in the price of the locomotive totally ridiculous this video might as well be a commercial for Lionel because it is totally slanted. Go buy one or two or three visionline big boys hey honey I dropped $10,000 on toy trains today what are you doing with that gun.

Some shops offer free shipping or “cheap” shipping, some places no tax if shipping to other states. Just have to shop around a little!
