Interesting fact, shared to me by a professional cartoonist (Dave Carpenter). The reason Alfred E. Newman (mad magazine), had the look that he did, was due to one eye being set slightly lower than the other. Nice project John!!
Truly is amazing how much work you can do in one heat under that hammer. That would have taken at least 20 heats. Amazing bud awesome. Gotta love it ....paul
A great piece for Christmas morning in between the gifts breakfast and smiles and hugs 🤗! Merry Christmas John ! Thank you for all the hard work and the effort you do for us!!! Looking forward to the great ideas in the upcoming year ! And I’m still working on the wire toaster ! It’s a really fun project but you must get the wire the right length or it looks horrid lol ! Once I can sit down and spend some time on it I’ll upload to your Facebook!!!!
Merry Christmas to you and yours! I have enjoyed watching these countdown to Christmas projects. Unfortunately between a back injury and the weather, I haven't been able to get out to the shop to try any. But maybe this weekend I can start giving them a shot!
It's awesome how you "shape out" (possibly bad english) various wonderful things of hard iron just with anvil and hammer, John. Can't stop watching your videos. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you, Sir from Berlin, Germany! P.S. I love your dragon heads.
Hay We love the cut 45% ruler you use. Know you cut you angle . I had a ideal and posted my measuring to on your conimuity formun. That I love Lets drills a verity size holes in yours and cut gauge like mine. Make your's even handier .You rock dude.
Merry Xmas and happy holidays to all. Thank you John for a full year of demos and inspiration, it really has been an outstanding gift of giving. --STeve
Merry Christmas to you and your family John! Thanks so much for taking your time to do the count down to Christmas. There were a lot of great idea's for gifts and things to practice on and strive to get better at. example I was forging sleigh bells yesterday. They came in just in time. Enjoy your holiday and I look forward to a new year and whatever comes next.
Merry Christmas John!! Hope you had a good one!!! I just got some quenching oil, not as a Christmas gift that would be an interesting gift haha! Butttt I need a good bucket to put it in, where did you get your red bucket with a lid at?? Thanks John!
hus tomte or tomte nisse hus tomte is a house gnome it would help you around you farm as log as you was nice an the best thing you could do was put out some porridge outside your door as like putting out cookies and milk for santa but was more importen in thos times because superstition says you can get a bad harvest your animal can get sick and die if you do not keep house gnome happy for what i learned about them there whole outfit was grey because the where not like to be seen but one don´t have to be traditional an the red hat comes in later any way so
Great video John. I made a set of 3 of these and a tea candle holder that looks like a campfire for them to sit around. Part of my 5 favorite things gift exchange with my wife's family. Really enjoyed this series. Thanks again and merry Christmas.
Thank you John for the great countdown. I love your videos and you're so great at explaining what you're doing for all of us new to the trade. I hope you have a great year ahead!
Merry Christmas to you and Janet! We, out here in RUclips land, are truly blessed to have your teaching and encouragement in these lively videos. Thank you so much for your dedication to the craft!

Have enjoyed theses videos as well as all the rest . Thank you for all hard work and time . the best gift of all that is of knowledge. God bless you!!!!!!📖⛪
On the twenty-eight day of Christmas the black bear made for me, a Christmas gnome, a fire steel, a troll cross, a forge welded belt buckle, a basket twist Christmas ornament, a corkscrew, a blanket pin, a squirrel cooker, a key fob, a ball and cup toy, a decorative punch, meat scewers, a hot dog fork, jingle bels, a candy dish, a paper towel holder, a menorah, BBQ tongs, a stocking hunger, a Christmas tree ornament, a cabinet pull, a dinner bell, a steak flipper, a hose hanger, a bottle opener, a candle snuffer, a nice wreath hook and a beaitifull coat hook. Great series, thank you! Merry Christmas to you and your family John!

The Christmas series was fantastic and i enjoyed all the videos posted, glad to be part of your channel and will be here for a while to come. Merry Christmas and a happy new year.
Very much enjoyed The Countdown to Christmas 🌲series ... I love gnomes so this one really struck a chord. So cool to end up with a power hammer project. Merry Christmas to you and your family. Looking forward to more awesome smithing projects in 2019!
It would also be polite for you to not jump to conclusions by not paying attention to the information available to you. In the video I comment that I have been making them for as gifts for several years (5 to be exact) yet Torbjörn Åhman's video was published only 2 years ago. It isn't possible for me to have seen his video years before he published it. I have seen versions of these in forged iron from numerous other smiths over the years, so it is hardly an original idea.
@@BlackBearForge I have watched his vids, and yours. Your gnomes are totally different, It is easy to see a general inspiration collectively from all of them. On a personal note on yours, John, a few of your gnomes look like they're either "off their meds" or very very drunk. I think they got into your cupboard where you keep your Christmas Spirits
Just want to say how much I've enjoyed your countdown to Christmas. Lots of great ideas. A MAJOR thumbs up.

Original idea by Torbjörn Åhman
... I think it would be polite to at least mention his video in the description.
