The greatest driving pleasure comes when driving a very well balanced car. This version of the Macan seems to be just that. Hopefully, the EV version will be as well balanced.
Porsche is perhaps the most masterful automaker in terms of having really "well-balanced" vehicles across the board.
The recent driving reviews of the EV version suggest it is well balanced

I assume the model tested had the standard 8-way seats hence the fabric inserts, can you please tell me if the passenger seat was electric or manually adjustable?
yes, 8-way seats (visible at 5:26) ... For the passenger-seat question, check the Porsche online configurator for your country; it gives all the specs like this...
what would you Pick Thomas if you had to choose between the macan S with all the sport options such as Air suspension, PTV Plus, sport chrono and some basic options(since macan is pretty much analog) VS Macan T with similar options.
IS Macan S worth paying 10k US Dollar more over Macan T?
a 6-cylinder is still a 6-cylinder ;-) Sport-Tex seats are also available for the Macan S

I noticed there wasn't any oncoming traffic on your way up. Was that just by chance or is only 1 direction allowed on the Col de Turini?

Great review. I test drove an 2020 Macan S here in Australia as I'm in the market to replace my 2 series Beemer. Having a 718 Cayman already my fear was the Macan would be to much like the Cayman? The Macan was super comfy with all the best bits of the Cayman but with none of the craziness (BTW I love the craziness of the Cayman just not all 7 days of the week) and of course better visibility being an SUV. Will be testing an Audi Q5 and Range Rover Evoque in the coming weeks as they are in-stock for immediate delivery and 20 to 30K less than a Macan here. My head said go that way to save some $ and get more safety options as standard, with a better 5 year warranty and servicing pack included. I suspect I will end up ordering a Macan and dreaming of driving it for the current 6-7 months delivery timeframe.

Ooh crap! I got lost in abbreviations. Maybe some on-screen guidance would have made it easier for me to follow up on rapidfire letter shooting.
It sounds suspiciously much like my A5 with the 2.0TFSI. You see the family resemblance too. Porsche has no doubt tuned things very differently (especially steering and chassis/suspension), but it is funny.
It's the same one it appears!
Obviously the Macan 2.0 is nicer than Cupra Ateca/Formentor, but is it twice as nice?
And then it would be super irritating being in the Porsche and being slapped at the light by the Cupras by some margin knowing both cars are from same group using many common components 😂
I would probably save a bit longer and go for 6 cylinders if I was in the market for a Macan.
For $80k, would you take this 2022 Macan S, or would you take a 2022 CX-5 + 2022 Miata?

The hard-coated brakes do appear/look/function perfectly! Also, The Macan S is my preferred mode of transportation! The metallic white option with the hard-coated brakes and those anodized golden/bronze appearance wheels and other bits really makes the Macan quite attractive to my eyes! Once again, outstanding review Thomas and company. As far as the rational for the 2 liter V.the 2.9 liter? With the weight (engine) being the main aspect of delineation as far as this question being considered? The 2.9 would still be my rational 1st choice.

I've driven the 2.0 base and the 2.9S.
The steering on the base was absolutely delightful, better than the S in my opinion, although the S didn't have power steering + fitted, so I'm testing one of those soon. I placed an order for an S in the meantime.

I think it's 19-inch wheels now on the base Macan, and possibly 20-inch wheels on the T (but check your UK online configurator)... I was fortunate enough to get 18-inch wheels on my 2019 base Macan, as they give better ride and are more safe...

comfort seems fine to me! Remember to take fabric or microfibre seats

The 8-way sport seats in the car in the video do not have adjustable lumbar support.

For the Maca model, the chassis has always been the special part of the car not the engine. This is why the T works well.
For me, I would still pick the Alfa Romeo Stelvio.

i was in the same situation and i picked the Macan GTS, can´t really say anything bad about the X3 but the Macan is a Porsche. And another point, in Sweden where i live BMW have big problems with thefts of steeringwheels (airbags) and the navigation units which made my choice even easier
@@laggeg haven't driven the BMW but when I was given a Macan loaner (just the base model) I was surprised how well it handled and felt

It's still a big fat hatchback. I don't understand why folks want a giant hatch that drives "like a sports car". They just dont.
if the interior was not lagging behind the big boys like panamera, cayenne, I would definitely consider buying. but I don't like the idea of getting a brand new car with an outdated interior. and where is my ambient lighting? why don't they do what mercedes, bmw is doing on the inside of their cars? I would LOVE to see porsche make a car to rival e class and 5 series..

The car exterior loves awesome, my only issue is the dashboard & infotainment . It looks outdated, can’t it be updated to mirror what Mercedes is doing? The gear stick is too long and makes touching anything near it cumbersome. Common Porsche you can do better.
I’ve been living with MBUX for the last year. It looks flashy but it’s painful day to day. Steering wheel thumb pads are no where near as good as a good old thumb wheel like on the Macan.
I got a Macan T as a replacement car while my Cayman is in service, and I felt none of that. Steering did not feel precise, feedback was lacking, suspension was too soft even in stiff mode with a lot of travel. I mean, if it's the best driving compact SUV, then SUV is just not my type of car at all. I had a Taycan GTS test drive very recently, and I don't understand at all how people call it the least Porsche car of the lineup. It felt waaay closer to how sports car should feel, even with its 2.5t weight.
9:45: any idea why they don't make all those "piano black" shiny surfaces into matte-black (non-shiny) surfaces? I can't figure that out... Everybody complains about fingerprints and reflections off the "piano black" surfaces; don't engineers and designers have common sense, and don't they listen to complaints of reviewers and owners?

4 cylinders will never be enough no matter how fast it is. It will never be as refined or sound as good as a 6 or 8 cylinder. The whole point of luxury cars were the larger engines with more cylinders making them sound stronger and more refined. Now they don't even have that advantage anymore. Take the new C Class. The entire engine range consists of the same amount of cylinders as compact city cars like a Kia Picanto. No. Just no.
Why Model T with one option 4 cylinders and take from vw group, this engine not developing by Porsche just modified programs

I love using the key fob to lock/unlock and turn the car on/off, and have a place to put my key fob.... So glad that Porsche gives us that option still...

Couple of years. They still have tooling for ICE cars that are too good to toss away. Would be financial suicide.
To battle the Chinese invasion, they need to use a new common platform with the Audi A6 Avant, maybe VW Passat, etc. Slap a Porsche body and interior on, perfect!
Korea has given Porsche and VW/Audi/Skoda/Seat some homework to do where it comes to charging speed and motor efficiency, at their low price point. Silly to have Korean cars just have way better specs than more expensive German ones and be way faster over a 1000 km cross-Europe journey. NIO from China has a 150 kWh battery out that can be swapped in a few minutes. That means, over 2000 km across Europe, you may be faster than tanking for gas, because you can't do that and freshen up at the same time. VW have work to do.

I will have to agree. You pay the premium to get the extra oomph. With 4 cylinders only there are many competitors at half the price.
Hard to justify paying double for same performance and especially sound.
They must have changed the engine tuning because when I had my car serviced I had a loaner base car and the power delivery was terrible and underpowered. Next time I had an S and it was much much better.
The base Macan can be "trained" to have better power delivery; the onboard computer "learns" the driver's driving habits. I've found loaner base Macans to feel sluggish, but my own base Macan is very peppy, and I rarely ever long for more power; zero problems accelerating onto expressways or passing on two-lane roads.
