    The implication this is a child going insane makes this less of a villain song and more a sad one. She's dreaming right? A dream so intense it breaks her mind.

      See, I don't know. That could be the implication, but I think there's more to it. I think this is more of a Coraline situation; a doppelganger that is in Alice's mind, a shattered version of her warped and corrupted by Wonderland. When she finds the door out, we see the blue hands escape first, which means that this reverse Alice, the one born in Wonderland, claimed her body. The reason I don't think it's so straightforward is the mirror shattering in the real world and her parent's transformation, as well as the corpses the Other Alice left behind, rather than corrupting.
      Taking this literally and not allegorically, this is a story of an invasion of our world by Wonderland, with this evil and twisted Alice at the helm. This is the start of her villain arc. Alice entered Wonderland, and it's madness warped her into two selves. But because Wonderland is a place where whimseys become reality and madness reigns supreme, the Dark Alice became real, still a part of the normal Alice, but also a murderous shade. When she left, she claimed Alice's body in the real world, leaving the other Alice trapped on the wrong side of the looking glass.

    • @OwlQueen375
      @OwlQueen375 Месяц назад +13

      @@inkblooded1058 I think I get what you're saying but then it's still a young girl who essentially had her life taken over the splintered wonderland mad version of herself.

    • @inkblooded1058
      @inkblooded1058 Месяц назад +8

      @@OwlQueen375 Oh, 100%
      It's ultimately how you look at the story. Depending on your angle, it could be one of a few things, but the two I can think of are:
      a.) Wonderland is real, and the Splintered Alice is her own entity. She is a part of Alice, so she is wherever Alice is, and starts dominating Wonderland, before eventually breaking free and stealing Alice's body, to tear a hole through the Looking Glass and bring Wonderland to Reality.
      or
      b.) More the "American McGee's Alice" direction, where Wonderland is more of a state of mind; an imaginary place that Alice goes to in her head. Over time, she becomes unable to separate fantasy from reality, and her mental state decays. She feels as though she's lost in her own fantasy, unable to escape, and her ever-increasing insanity is represented by Splintered Alice, who is really just regular Alice slaughtering her way through Wonderland. She isn't "changing" people, but simply killing them, represented by them being 'infected'. Her escape into Reality is Alice losing her mind once and for all, and Wonderland, the imaginary world, blending with Reality in Alice's mind or maybe an actual physical merging. People become nothing more than figments of her imagination, to be killed and replaced at a whim.
      The reason I lean more towards option A is because we see victims of Splintered Alice who aren't corrupted, but just killed. If corruption is representative of Alice killing them, then wouldn't the Rabbit have just transformed instead of left a corpse? Even the singing flowers, which Alice ripped in half, were never seen as a mutated counterpart. The only exception to this is the Cheshire Cat, who we see as both a corpse AND a corrupted variant coming out of the mirror at the end. But it could be that Alice simply corrupted the cat after holding him by his tail.
      Also, side note: Love the profile. Luz is the best.

    Man the small details in the animatic get me every time.
    At the beginning when she’s walking you can see her eyes actually start to turn the darker color of blue briefly. And then when the rabbit finds her he looks terrified before running, then Alice finds him dead.
    The way Dark Alice only takes over the denizens that Alice is actively in front of, how she never runs anywhere, because why would she? She’s wherever Alice is. She’s already there. With her own Cheshire grin always on her face.
    The way the Queen of Hearts is beheaded and her collar makes what’s left look like a rose.
    She turns her parents into King and Queen chess pieces, which I think is fun (that sounds weird to say but I mean from a narrative perspective).
    And that at the end we also get flashes of how she killed the cat, the flowers, the caterpillar, and - of course - the rabbit.
    And the way the song itself basically ends with Alice begging for help but… it’s too late. She’s cracked.
    Lydia killed this one, I’ve basically been listening on loop.

      It kind of implies that alice already went mad the minute she entered wonderland and she is unaware of that so it feels like her own subconscious is tricking her by creating two separate versions of herself one that represents her madness and her oblivious innocent side and Mad Alice seems to be aware of this so she's just toying with her good side at this point by taking over wonderland

  • @shy2infinity
    @shy2infinity Месяц назад +30

    The story was in the description of the song, but the gist of it was that when she entered Wonderland its madness sank into her, infecting her slowly with Madness. It created this sort of split personality situation. She thought that if she escaped back to her world, she would return back to normal... However, what she didn't know was that from the first moment when she stepped into Wonderland for the first time, it was already too late.

    Also, imagine how terrified her parents were. One minute your daughter's sleeping, the next she's up but something's wrong and she ends up killing you. Terrifying!

    I have a very interesting take on this animatic. I think its a case of hallucinating something entirely different to what is actually happening. Alice sees herself, a mad version of herself distorting all these people, but the only character that didnt end up distorted was the rabbit, who was afraid of Alice and tried to run.
    We see near the end that Alice actually drowned the Cheshire cat in the very same pond in one of the frames that showed up for a split second.
    The rabbit saw Alice drown Cheshire cat and try to flee, but the next thing we know the rabbit is dead and "Mad Alice" is there.
    I think the distortion from Mad Alice is the hallucinations way of covering up the murders. Mad Hatter was stabbed in tbe back, and then the other guy was murdered. Wherever Alice goes, Mad Alice seems to follow.
    The Queen of Hearts is most likely going to execute Alice for her crimes (Although Alice doesnt realise shes the one doing it, she believes its a Mad Version of herself doing all of this) and Alice breaks free and beheads Queen of Hearts, taking her crown and destroying the army.
    Now, while the Wonderland is still in her head at this point, it breaks free, and the innocent Alice is unable to break free. Then Alice "distorts" her parents (she murders them) and the alice before wonderland is forever lost in her own mind.
    She only paints in red now, because red is blood. She paints with the blood of those she comes across. Every single character shes come across shes murdered, and once Alice was forever lost to Wonderland, she started killing in the real world too, starting with her parents.

      At first you see Alice's eyes go blue when she is stressed like 4 times. 0:59 1:11 1:57 2:08
      At 2:22 she kills the rabbit and begins to disassociate, now there are 2 of her. The one in charge, the mad one, doing wicked things, the wild, the impulsiveness invading. And the sane one, her guilty conscious, whose threads of thought are fading.
      At 4:24 "wonderland words coming out of my mouth" as her eyes flash the blue of madness. And then they split into 2 again.
      One thing to notice is the sane Alice has white tiny shoes. The mad Alice has big black shoes. And then in reality they're blended, she has small shoes with black and white striped stockings. When they step out of the mirror world they become one mad little Alice.

    If I’m being honest with you, I feel like this is much more realistic to what would happen if a child got trapped in a world filled with crazy people and literal madness, dream or not. I don’t know about the Disney version, but in the original story she was seven years old. Seven! I feel like a grown up would go crazy if they were trapped in what they believed was an entirely different dimension that is literally a world of madness and didn’t know how to get out, so imagine how much harder keeping your sanity would be in that situation when you’re a small child.

    I have a theory, when her parents appear on part of the scenes like the lake or the mirrors they are all like worried, and I like to think that she was asleep (thats why all of this happened in the first place) but she was sick so thats why her parents where worried, thats kinda why her evil side appeared in her dreams and made her go all mad! It was the moment were Alice was weakened and the perfect moment so she could take control, thats also why her mom was so shocked to see her awake, standing up and with a freaking creepy smile, and then all what happened after.

    What if Wonderland was real, it would be an annoying nightmare. Because it doesn't run on reason, common sense ethics, or morals. If you throw a average person in there will go crazy after a month. Special worse for a child like her and I don't blame her for it. If I was there, I would go crazy after a week of bs like that.

    For example
    "I only paint in red now"
    The queen of hearts liked to paint the white roses with red paint,the way the queen "dies"(behaded) is the sentence she always gives no matter the "crime"
    "Chasing time,it move so fast"
    Alice alwais followed the white rabit,who was alwais watching his clock and saying "im late",alice followed the rabit but the rabit was always faster and she lost sight of him
    And in the movie,alice falls asleep under a tree,and at the end of the movie she is being followed by the citizens of wonderland and the queen that wants to behead her,she runs and then she wakes up after entering a door,the same door alice uses in the video to exit wonderland

    This is my analysis of the song. I view it as a villainous origin story:
    Alice, lost in her headspace “Wonderland,” gradually fell to hysteria only to kill the denizens of her mind-scape into corruption to symbolize killing who she used to be. The sane, fearful part of her tried to run away from what she is becoming, only to be shoved into the back burner of her mind as she looses it.
    She is locked away, stuck as the ignored voice of conscientious in her head now, only to observe in terror of her actions through reflections.
    Now completely lost, crazy and filled with hysteria, madness puppets Alice’s body. To cope with this imbalance, Alice expands Wonderland to her reality. This warps everything perceived outside Alice’s mind and body into distorted hallucinations like a child living in critical delusion, visualized by her now-corrupted denizens breaking out of the glass cage and into reality.
    In mental inbalance, Alice kills her family starting her path of insanity “to paint in red,” hallucinations distorting her family as queen and King chess pieces when she kills them.
