- The front struts are part of the suspension system of the vehicle. It supports the weight of the vehicle and also absorb the impact from the road to ensure a smooth ride.
The struts of the vehicle should last about 7 to 8 years for the average driver.
Symptoms of bad struts:
Vehicle move up and down at highway speeds
Vehicle lean to one side on turns
The front end drives more than expected during hard braking
Rear-end squat during acceleration
Rough idling
Tires bouncing excessively
Wavy tire wear
Leaking Fluid on the exterior of the struts
Torque Spec
Knuckle to bottom strut connection: 123 ± 7 ft-lb (167 ± 9 N⋅m)
Vehicle frame to top strut nuts: 33 ± 3 ft-lb (44 ± 5 N·m)
Self-Locking Nut on top of the strut: 45 ± 7 ft-lb (60 ± 10 N·m)
Wheel Lug Nut: 73 ± 7 ft-lb (98 ± 10 N·m)
These torque specs are a huge help. Thank you for these detailed videos on my favorite daily driver
Very interesting to see in detail every component in the strut assembly and the correct tools use.

Thank you for detailed video ! Keep up the great work
Thank you sir, amazing stuff. can you please tell me the part number for the strut mount removal tool set?
Love ur videos
This is great, a very clear tutorial. I'm wondering if the same sequence of events would work for a MITSUBISHI LANCER GLXi, GLI Auto CE (right hand drive) 1999 model as well? I'm planning on replacing my front struts, brake pads and rotors since it seems relatively simple, even for me... saves me like $600 by not getting a mechanic to do it. That's money I don't have, so any info you can provide me with would be greatly appreciated.
Gracias por la explicación

Hey guys i have a question do struts come in different sizes? What is the size for lancer ?
Just did mine a couple of months ago.
where can i buy that special tool
Hey, KC, I have an unrelated question. When you turn your key to the "On" position, can you hear the fuel pump priming? I was wondering if it's normal NOT to hear it on this model. I'm trying to diagnose a "Crank, no start" condition on mine.
i have the same exact issue so if anyones out there i would still like to hear what you have to say
Will this strut fit a mirage ES 2001 ?
Hi kong, can you do a tutorial on a fuel filter replacement too? :D
I'll take a look into it.
Can you do servicing injectors
Agreed, that'd be great.
