God bless those back rooms/freezers/bathrooms/closets/spaces where we can just hide ourselves and breathe (or cry) for a moment. Those rooms have seen humanity at its realest.
Glad someone else pointed out how fire that patchwork jacket Carmy wears is. I searched endlessly to find it when these episodes first came out. It is the NN07 Gael 8267
This cast is just fantastic. It wouldn't surprise me if they set time aside to hang out as a group and just gel and talk ish. The chemistry is so genuine and fluid.
As someone who’s already watched all eps, your comment @5:42 resonated (as you’ll later see): “Every second of this show, there’s something so valuable and rewarding that is happening”
So glad to see some film analysis on this awesome show. So much has been made of the food scenes and accuracy to the life but it’s been more rare to see someone consistently shout out the editing and film direction. The editing in particular is what makes the show so special in my opinion.
The key for great character development is to have them introduced as simple or someone that could be tossed aside quickly. And then show depth to and expand said character. Sydney is a main example.
man i just wrapped up season 2 man and thought of you. you are in for a treat. probably one of my fav shows ever. the dialogues in s2 is fkn mwaaaah chef's kiss!
I feel like with the way you're vibing with this show you should check out Anthony Bourdain's books and/or shows. He was much less of a "celeb" chef-type and much more like Carmy is. Passionate, anxious, neurotic, a whole mess. And Bourdain was as open and honest about himself as he was the food industry and global food culture in all his works.

Burnt was the movie that reminded me of this. Pls watch Shameless if you have the yet because that’s where I first watched Jeremy. When I saw the trailer for this, I had a feeling it was going to be amazing and I’m so happy a lot more people have discovered this show.
Look up gordon ramseys first documentary about getting his third Michelin star if you want the parrales to the bear, all his over sfuff is more of a parody of himself
There’s a lot of films that deal with food and culinary that are great to watch. Pig Chef Big night Babettes feast Chocolat Always be my maybe Julie and Julia Burnt Tampopo Eat pray love The taste of things (2023)
I’ll be honest, Gordon Ramsay has very very rarely shown an accurate depiction of a restaurant. Sometimes there are moments of truth that seep out through the over produced and highly dramatized cracks.

Nothing quite as real as stepping in to the walk-in to scream at the top of your lungs so you don't flip your shit on someone who doesn't need it.
"YOU BETRAYED ME!" gets me every fkn TIME!!!! LMAOOOO

Since you love The Bear, I say with all confidence, you will love Queen's Gambit. Writing, costumes, lighting. It has it all. Please watch soon.

When I tell you the show gets better with every single episode...we slammed through both seasons in a weekend and have re-watched it twice more.
The woman in the beginning at the meeting is Claire from the Breakfast Club.
Trust me, James. The more you continue with this show, the more Richie will eventually grow on you.
He starts off as such a train wreck and before the end of the second season I just fall in love that man.
Agreed, I *HATED* him and Tina at the beginning.

Molly Ringwald at the first meeting scene btw
Loving these reactions. Very insightful. Can't wait for your view on 'Fishes'.

Cinematography! 👏
Couldn’t stand Richie for a season and a half. The way his character art gets written 😚👌🏾
Bruh when he finally got it, homeboy looked amazing! I'm trying to be vague to not give away spoilers. So hard!
Yesss! Love this journey ✨
Molly Friggin Ringwald!!!
Man, I love this show's cameos!
Never thought how much I would love this show. Some of the side stories made me check my phone but this show is so good and I continue to recommend it
I think this is my fav from the first season 👌🏼
You should definitely watch The Menu for more food related content!
I cannot WAAAAIT for you to get to ep 7!!!

Have a great day y'all!
already excited for you to watch season 2 lol
Next Episode has my favourite little scene between Tina and Sydney, and is the immediate payoff to their interactions here.
You had me at Ratatouille!!! 😂
James, I gotta recommend Chef. It's another great cooking movie. Made me try a grilled cheese for the 1st time 😊

Wait... have you not done The Menu?

Please please please its Carm. Not Bear, lol. All love, but you're killing me!!! Please James 😂
If you want something similar to this show, check out Boiling Point. It's Uncut Gems level of intensity.
Movie first, right, or does the show come first? They’re both on my list to watch, I’m just not sure which one comes first.
You should watch Chef, it’s a Jon Favreau film from 2014, captures the life of a chef very well and is an all around great movie with a STACKED cast
please please please react to the curse!!! the first season just finished and it’s awesome
There’s a lot of films that deal with food and culinary that are great to watch.
Pig
Chef
Big night
Babettes feast
Chocolat
Always be my maybe

The taste of things (2023)
Oh man, Chocolat.
