- After knocking on this door we found out this war veteran really needed our help. He had fallen sick and was dealing with alot of health issues where he couldn't keep up with his lawn. I'm so grateful we randomly knocked on his door.

Always good videos. I been helping an elderly lady who’s husband passed away few years ago. Sometimes she will let me do her whole yard and other times she wants to help. I’ve taught her how to use her riding mower and she does good with it. And I always have to stay for lunch with her. It’s make the day great and we have fun sitting and talking.

Do same. Got one neighbor mows her lawn another takes care of her plants & I take care of all her decorations she's loved to decorate for every holiday

@@TopNotchLawns yes, doing some maintenance on mower. I hope to get another year out of it. Yard is mess from last storm here. Limbs and pine straw and pinecones are everywhere. But things are getting ready to bloom. Birds are busy too. We are going to have some rain here later today and into the morning. It's been nice few days. But the rain is very important.

I used to love to do this kind of lawn work when my hubby and I were younger. We live in a retirement sized house with a tiny yard now, and we have help now that we are older. But I just love to watch your videos. You do such a good job! And the properties look SO much better when you get done with them. Thanks for sharing, and thanks for helping these communities. I’m from Kansas, and I miss “home”.

As always Brian, you choose the really tough ones that most would shy away from. That sidewalk was a definite NIGHTMARE and it was an awful lot of work, but of course you did a TOP NOTCH job. Here in the Pacific N.W., we r having 3 straight days of no rain, so it's all humans on yard duty. 😅 It's amazing how fast they can bust it out, just 4 an opportunity 2 ride their bikes in the sunshine. Your Oregon Viewer.

For a way to cheaply trim bushes and volunteer mini trees and heavy brush buy a set of giant scissors at a hardware store! Also a large bolt cutter will also cut large trees and heavy bushes to remove from around doorways or just to clear out from front of house! Also available is a cheap lightweight battery power chain saw that many landscapers now use!

Lawn care is your outdoor gymnasium. It's a good way for you to keep fit. Be careful not to overdue it. Do just enough to keep healthy. The people you help need you. :-)

That is really cool to help out a war veteran. I noticed a number of volunteer trees on this property, which are hard to eliminate. I live on a piece of property that had quite a few volunteer trees on it when I purchased the property in 2017. The method I came up that worked to best was cutting them back as far as I could with loppers or a hand saw, and then dousing what was left with some charcoal lighter fluid and burning it down to the ground, which very effectively killed off the root system so it didn't try to come back up again. I live in a small town which just requires me to get a seasonal burn permit, although I know some people might not be able to use this method in a bigger city.
I've been subscribed to you for like forever when you first started but I don't remember this one. I must of missed it way back. What a blessing you both are for this Vet.

I have wanted to sees someone edge the entire areas that need edging and then go back and shovel it all up. It is so much faster than edging one foot at a time and then shoveling up in increments. Way to go!

I got out and raked my yard the other day. It wasn't just leaves but it was 2-3 inches deep in acorns. That was a bite to clean up.

My suggestion would be to go back after the weather turns warm/hot and ask him if you can do his backyard. It’s still cool out and he already sounded like he was worn out and struggling. (Although there’s no telling when you actually did this yard).
I never cease to amaze me. The work and effort you put in makes me feel good!! Putting order by gathering leaves, trimming curbs, making those walks see the sun, which they haven't seen in a long time... Yup. It feels good for me to see these videos. I bet that sidewalk hadn't been edged in 2 or more years. I'm sure it made him feel sick looking at that yard but after you finished he felt proud. I'm a Viet Nam Vet and pretty much in the same boat. At our age it really makes you feel sad when you can't do the things you use to, I'm lucky enough where I have Family help.............That was a lot of work in 6 hours, GREAT JOB !!!!!!!!!
