Black soldier fly larvae are a popular snack for many reptiles and amphibians. They are loaded with protein, making them a great treat for juvenile pets. But their high fat content prevents them from being a staple food source.
This video shows you what it's like to unbox black soldier fly larvae, and how to store them for your pet's consumption.
If your refrigerator is typically running at 50 degrees, your food is going to be spoiling pretty fast... LOL a refrigerators typical temperature should be around 37 degrees.
Subbed for the 5 % discount 😉 great video
Cool video
Got my order today. I ordered 1k and got a box of 1200 1/4 BSF larvae. Lucky they arrived on a pretty warm day and I would say 99% arrived alive. I used a a strainer to shift out the BSF frass before adding them to my compost. I got 3 adult leopard geckos to feed and 1200 will last a long time.
We're happy to hear this, Mr. Chowhua. BSFL are a great feeder option because they are loaded with calcium. And they are pretty hearty in cold transits, and have a much greater chance of surviving cold transits than crickets. Let us know if there's anything else we can do for you.
Nice vid 👍🏽
Hello, I received my order of black soldier fly larvae. Should I close the lid of the bucket? How long they can be alive in the bucket (temperature: 80F)?
can't hear you
I refrigerated my bsfl but theyre not coming out of dormancy; did they die? Its been about 10 minutes under a heat lamp now and no movement.
So you rinse them off before feeding to your reptile?
Would it survive shipping to Sweden?
