Those counter-melodies by Kevin on the cello are so poignant... that’s the element that establishes the emotional thrust given by Kirstie and Scott! Genius! I wonder what Lady Gaga and Bradley think of this performance!
I have always thought that Kirstie deserves far more praise than she gets. She has an absolutely incredible voice and she really knows how to use it. Having said that, all five of them are amazing. 'Radioactive' is another one with Kevin playing cello, plus a very unexpected surprise. If you really want to hear Kirstie shine, try 'Be My Eyes' which she actually wrote.
Eargasm is a term many reactors use. I love love loved this reaction. I'm sure I will laugh about it all day!!!

Kevin is brilliant. As a student, he played his cello for the world-famous cellist Yo Yo Ma. This is one of their most affecting covers: I still catch my breath every time Mitch comes in for his brief solo supported by Kevin's strong cello, so I just smiled in sympathy when you wanted to go back! And the videography is so handsome with the gold accents on the black and white: it's an homage to the original movie posters. And *yes* - it's too short, but that's all there is of the song

I love how you two express yourselves, it's fun, but it's real. I'm glad you like the cello. PTX is well established as an a cappella group but we've been treated to more of their talents. If you watch "Thank you" they have both piano and cello and it's so lovely. Over the River has cello and violin with Lindsay Stirling. Please do more Pentatonix, I so enjoy your reactions.

Ancient Pentatonix folklore holds while searching for a beat boxer for the new group, it was a RUclips video of Kevin beat boxing while playing cello that got Scott's and co-founder Ben Bram's attention. They reached out to him and there was a bit of drama but Kevin finally said yes and so Pentatonix was born. At least that's kind of how I heard it....Great reactions guys. Take care all.

When you have a world-class cellist (yes, I am looking at Kevin), it is not a bad idea to have him dust off his skills from time to time. He also plays cello in "Radioactive" and a few others.

From 6:00 on you two were so engrossed with the music it was fun to watch you, especially at 6:20 when Dominika swells and almost comes out of her chair. Eargasm is the correct word that describes your experience. That is a word because I declare it to be. Dominika (spelling?)...I love your blouse. Very colorful. IF they use an instrument (usually cello or piano) they show it in the video. No secrets. When Kirstie looked at you...she has musical theater training. She knows how to suck you in...in a good way. Kevin is "cello boxing", or playing cello and beat boxing at the same time. "Eargasms" are not original with you. Others have used this term to describe many PTX videos. Great reaction. I know what you mean. If you listen to other musicians for a while, then come back to PTX, you appreciate them more.

Love their version, and it does look like they're looking right at you as they sing. They have that ability to make you feel the song.
When the "own it" comment is made, I often think that they have brought their personality and style to the music. It's a fresh treatment.

i am a huge fan of Lady Gaga. But this version was musically better. Pentatonix are master arrangers and seem to always find a way to "polish" the originals to perfection. This definitely happened with this song. Thanks for all your reactions. I am always left smiling after watching you two.

I haven't seen the movie either, so I wondered why they shot the video in black-and-white, with pops of color from the gold jewelry and fixtures. It turns out all of the posters for the movie were in black-and-white, and the only color on them was the gold lettering for the title, "A Star Is Born".
I would second the suggestion for Say Something. It's another song with Kirstie in the lead role, and Kevin playing the cello. I believe it was actually the first video they did where Kevin played the cello with them.
